A Texas megachurch pastor recently claimed that President Barack Obama’s re-election victory would lead to the rise of the Antichrist.

Robert Jeffress, senior pastor at the First Baptist Church in Dallas, made remarks on Sunday before the election that should Obama win, his victory would lead to the reign of the Antichrist.
“I want you to hear me tonight, I am not saying that President Obama is the Antichrist, I am not saying that at all. One reason I know he’s not the Antichrist is the Antichrist is going to have much higher poll numbers when he comes,” said Jeffress.
“President Obama is not the Antichrist. But what I am saying is this: the course he is choosing to lead our nation is paving the way for the future reign of the Antichrist.”
Jeffress would go on to say that “it is time for Christians to stand up and to push back against this evil that is overtaking our nation” and to do so via “the ballot box.”
This is not the first time that Jeffress has garnered controversy for his remarks regarding major political figures. During the Family Research Council’s “Values Voters Summit” in October of last year, Jeffress called Mormonism a cult.

Just one more reason I am so glad that God in His grace drew me out of this Evangelical nonsense and into His Church. Jeffress would do a whole lot better to excoriate his fellow Evangelicals, who stayed home in droves rather than to vote for a Mormon. He might want to ask them what they were afraid of — perhaps Mitt would have put the Golden Tablets of Moron up in the White House and made us all pledge to become Mormons????
No, Mr. Jeffress, what is evil is that when Jesus said He wished that His followers would all be one, your anabaptist forefathers left the Church which Jesus entrusted to St. Peter and the Apostles and started their own little clan. Now there are well over 30,000 denominations worldwide. Is this the UNITY that Christ prayed for? I think not.
If you want blessings on this country, you will head down to the nearest Catholic parish and enroll in RCIA, join the Church on Holy Saturday, and then work like crazy to unify all Christians under the banner of Christ through His one, holy, CATHOLIC, and apostolic Church. Other than that, expect the curses that come upon covenant breakers.

You really shouldn’t be so hard on the Mormons, because, if you are talking about which is the TRUE CHURCH OF GOD, if it isn’t the Catholic church, it most definitely is the Mormon church, and here’s why. The Catholic’s believe that the Apostolic line was never broken through St. Peter and that the true priesthood is STILL on the earth from the time that Jesus Christ ordained and set-apart His Apostles. If the line WAS broken, which we believe it was because the Bible talks about a “falling away” before Christ returns to the earth. If that’s the case,ALL OTHER protestant and evangelical churches are wrong and without Priesthood authority because they are broken off from the “dead tree”. That would leave the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is a RESTORED gospel. The Mormon church IS the restored gospel of Jesus Christ and has the true Priesthood authority at this time. I leave it up to those who are really knowledgable of church doctrine to investigate this. I’m sorry, but you are very wrong.
1. The “falling away” that is being spoken of refers to the falling away of those in the Old Covenant before its final destruction in AD 70 when the Roman armies of Titus destroyed the temple and killed 1 million Jews. This is the description found in Matthew 24. There is only one verse which speaks of this falling away. It is found in 2 Thess 2: 3. But the prior verse gives a time reference to this falling away. Verse two uses the word enistēmi, which means “at hand” or very near. Very near does not mean hundreds or thousands of years away. Or even decades away. It has a sense of very close at hand. It was the Jewish apostasy that took place before the coming of Christ in AD 70. You may read about this parousia in AD 70 by Googling Preterism or Preterist Eschatology and studying what they have to say.
2. Jesus gave the keys of the Kingdom to St. Peter and then promised that the gates of hell would not prevail against the Church. The falling away has nothing to do with the Church. It has to do with those who were in the Church and who apostatized from Her. The Church can never fail, regardless of what Her members do because She has a Great High Priest in the heavenlies praying for Her and offering His spotless Blood for Her and the sins of Her people. The high priest is the head of the covenant between God and His people, thus, the Church can never fail because we see in Hebrews 7-10 that Christ offers an eternal YOM KIPPPUR (Lev. 16) for the Church, thus guaranteeing that She will never be overcome by the gates of hell. If that could happen, then the Blood of Christ could fail to provide a payment for the sins of the Church. Impossible.
3. Jesus said that those who are His and love Him will keep His words (John 14:23). To keep His word means to obey His commandments. One of those commandments is that we receive the Eucharist and believe that it is the very Body and Blood of our Lord shed upon the Cross. All Christians from the very beginning of the New Covenant believed and practiced this. Your assembly does not, and therefore cannot be the Church which our Lord established upon earth.
4. Jesus is NOT the brother of Satan. That is a wicked and damnable doctrine. He is the Son of God, God manifest in the Flesh for our salvation. Your doctrine that teaches that He is a created being was discussed and dismissed by the Church in 425 AD at the Council of Nicea. The heresy is called Arianism and you share it with the Jehovah’s Witnesses. There is a multitude of verses that show that Jesus claimed to be God when on earth. When He did so, the Jews picked up stones to stone Him. “For what good work do you stone me?” He asked them sarcastically. “The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God. (John 10:33) Even if you in your state of spiritual blindness cannot understand this verse, the Jews who hear Jesus understood what He was saying perfectly and considered Him a blasphemer. Thus, since you deny the Trinity, you cannot even be considered Christian. These are not my words. They are the words of the Fathers of the Church for centuries. They said that no person who denies the Trinity is a Christian.
5. Your claim has no merit. You cannot give a time or date of this supposed “apostasy” other than saying that it happened. This is what all who have opposed the Catholic Church have claimed. They all claim that somewhere, sometime, there was an apostasy. I know. I used to be one of them until I actually got my head out of places that God never intended it to be and read some history instead of believing lying Fundamentalist pastors with an agenda. You must prove this “apostasy” and I have so far seen no proof other than Mormons (and others) telling me that it is so. But like I said, if that happened, then Jesus lied. It’s really that simple.

I have respect for the Catholic Congrgation, however, the Catholic Doctrine and Laws state that “You cannot recieve Salvation unless you are inside the 4 walls of the Catholic Church”! As a Messsianic Jew I cannot follow those dictates because God’s Children who are Believers in Jesus the Christ as our Savior can be saved anywhere they stand on the face of the Earth!! I woll pray for the Salvation of your Soul!
Of course, that is not what Jesus Himself said:
Mat 18:17 And if he shall neglect to hear them, tell [it] unto the church: but if he neglect to hear the church, let him be unto thee as an heathen man and a publican.
Get that? If you don’t hear the Church, you are to be considered as a pagan and publican. An unbeliever. You claim you are a believer in Messiah, which is a good start, but you need to “finish strong” and come into the fullness of The Way.
Jesus said:
Jhn 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
This is not up for grabs. The very FIRST Christians in the first century believed that the bread and wine become the very Flesh and Blood that was on the Cross. Not until the heretics Luther and Calvin began preaching differently did there exist any other idea of communion. Your assembly does not teach this, thus it is incomplete.
The four walls of the Catholic Church are very wide indeed. One theologican whom I respect has stated “We know that one must be in the Church to be saved, we just don’t know how large the Church is.” That is to say — anyone who is baptized in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit is a member of the Church Catholic. Baptism was given to the Church as the ritual of covenant making replacing circumcision. It is the way that the New Covenant is cut between God and man.
Thus, whether you wish to acknowledge it or not, you are a member of the Church, which is the Catholic Church and the only Church that Jesus established on earth by giving the Keys of the Kingdom to St. Peter. (Isaiah 22:22). Whether you actually enter the Church on earth in your lifetime is up to you, and your resistance to submission to that Church which our Lord placed on earth will be there at the Judgment Day. May you find His mercy then!

Why the argument? If we worship God, believe that Christ is our Savior, and obey the Biblical rules, including having communion each time you meet, loving your neighbor as yourself, etc., there should be no argument.

What Church? The Church which is the Kingdom of God on earth. The Church which is headed by St. Peter. Jesus gave the Keys to the Kingdom to Peter and no one else. For 16 centuries, there was but one Church. There was no other “church” teaching things that the Apostles never taught. Those who teach the Arian heresy of montheism were roundly condemned by the Fathers of the Early Church. Perhaps you should read what they say about heretics. It isn’t “nice” but it is every bit true.
Jesus said that the Father seeks those who will worship Him in “spirit and in truth”. See the word TRUTH? There is something important about having the truth, so much so that men died rather than bend it one little bit. So much so that councils of bishops, some quite fractious (think of Bishop NIcholas slapping the crap out of the heretic Arias) met for months and years deciding upon the truth.
And yet you take our modern “Christianity” which has THOUSANDS OF ASSEMBLIES, each teaching a different variety of truth, and try to tell me that nothing really matters as long as we all profess to believe in Jesus!!!!!
Well, the devils in hell believe in Jesus also, and they are not going to have a nice eternity.
Why the argument? Because of something called TRUTH!!!
Oh — one other thing. There is a way of uniting. Go down to your local Catholic parish and tell the priest that you wish to enter the RCIA program and join the Church this coming Easter. You will learn the truth about the Christian faith, all the lies that have been told about the Catholic faith will be exploded before your eyes (If you have a good RCIA teacher) and you will be UNITED with the Church and with all Christians in it.
There’s the unity we should have. One Church, one Body of Christ.
The ballot box is no longer a viable way to remove a politician from office. Especially Obama! The corruption and fraud has overwhelmed any chance for Americans to have honest elections. Evil has taken over the souls and minds of both politician and voter. They cannot decern the truth from the lie, good from bad and will increase as we move closer to our Lord’s return. The rule of law has been trashed by our government and they fear the people whose eyes see them for what they are. The line has been drawn and depending what side you’re on will determine your destiny for eternity.
The ballot box only works for men like Obama because it is a reflection of the pagan culture in which we live. In a truly Christian culture, he wouldn’t have a prayer in hell of being elected.
Evangelicalism offers nothing to the culture. Look at the so-called “Mega-churches.” Take out the Cross and put in a bar and you couldn’t tell the difference between it and a nightclub down the street. Same music, same catering to people’s wants, wishes, and desires. The hard work of the Gospel — feed the hungry, care for the poor, attend to the dying — in other words, SELF-SACRIFICE, is a forgotten message in Evangelicalism. It is all about “ME” and what Jesus can do for “ME.” It is a feel good message with no sharing of the Cross. We are called to bear Christ’s Cross upon the earth, but don’t tell that to Evangelicals. You will have them jumping out the windows looking for another church that tickles their itching ears.
Just as bad is the state of the Catholic Church, as evidenced by people like Judas Pelosi and her ilk in government. Many of us converts, upon entering the Church, have found a congregation full of people who know precious little of Catholic teaching. The average Catholic, if called upon to defend the Christian faith in the public square, would make a complete hash of it. Neither do they know good reasons why things like abortion, embryonic stem cell research, cloning, homosexuality, and the like, are morally wrong.
The leftists have accomplished the work that Lenin set out back at the beginning of the 20th century. They have worked diligently to get his 10 point program for the destruction of America enacted and now we are about to pay the price for our silence and our silliness. I am praying for the grace to endure persecution and not betray Christ.

Please stop spewing hate and fear mongering. The Anti Christ isnt going to breach through and destroy our world. There is nothing in the Bible or any historical artifact that says when and who is coming or paving the way for the antichrist. Reread your bibles and quit attacking a man who by his own admission believes and prays to God and please dont go out and show me any misprinting or assumptions about pg 261 the Audacity of Hope because I have seen the excerpt and he is not siding with Muslims nor does he even state it there at all.
For Pete’s sake, look at us, will you? Why are we bickering about what makes us different from each other rather than celebrating what we have in common? It would be better for us if we would just pray for God’s will for us and do that rather than worry about tomorrow. God has given each of us one day- today. We can’t do anything about the past because it is gone- over and done with. We can’t do anything about tomorrow because it isn’t here yet and we don’t even know if we will be here when it does. Let us all do God’s will today and lose our fear about here and hereafter. If we seek God’s will today, we will know what to do when our moment of truth comes.
God knows His children and will provide for them if they are “innocent as doves and wise as serpents”. We have been given solid rules for good living; let’s live up to them. Each man’s theology is his own personal quest, a search for what is true and right. He who truly seeks God will find Him.
The Church has endured for 2000 years and the Jews have endured longer than that. History shows that the Church has endured political upheaval and turmoil through the ages, and will endure as long as we keep seeking God and doing His will. As for the Jews, I believe God has a separate covenant with them. Remember in the Old Testament that God Himself made them a “treasured possession”.
Remember what Jesus said about the Church as the Body of Christ: each part has its proper function and each needs the other. We each know what we need to do as members of the Body of Christ. Stick to that and we will be presented as the Bride of Christ, without spot or blemish, in the end times, which are known only to God the Father, not us.
Jesus Himself warned us about false prophets who claim to be the Christ returning for His redeemed ones. It follows, at least to me, that false prophets will declare the coming of the Antichrist as well. I don’t like President Obama and I don’t trust him, but the Manchurian Candidate he ain’t. He’s too arrogant, incompetent and ignorant for that. I don’t like what he seems to have in mind for our country, but right now, I’m just overcoming the shock of him being reelected and don’t have the will to fight- yet.
As a Messianic Jew I can only say that you have raised many questions about Mankind that you should have the answers to by reviewing Scripture again! All the anwers are there for all of us to see, but there are only those of God’s Children that will fully understand God’s Message 0r Love Letter here on Earth!
