On January 1, 2011, a law banning certain “ethnic studies” classes went into effect in Arizona. The law makes it illegal for a school district to teach courses which “promote the overthrow of the US government, promote resentment of a particular race or class of people, are designed primarily for students of a particular ethnic group, or advocate ‘ethnic solidarity’ instead of the treatment of pupils as individuals.”
But it was not the ever-compassionate, ethnicity-conscious left which wrote and implemented legislation making it a crime to teach violence and racism. Rather, the law was passed by the Republican-controlled Arizona legislature and signed by the State’s Republican governor.
And the left is fit to be tied over it!
According to one liberal professor, the Arizona legislature has committed “ethnocide,” or more properly “ethnonormativity” by implementing a law which hopes to preserve some semblance of sanity in Arizona schools. As the professor puts it, the law “takes the teachings of one culture—the colonizer’s—and makes it the standard version of history while literally banning other accounts, turning the master narrative into the ‘normal’ one…”
In short, the evil “colonizing white man” has once again trodden mistreated Chicanas and Chicanos underfoot, preventing them learning the true history of their struggles with the white devil slave master by making such studies illegal.
No kidding; that’s really what the professor believes as he calls the Arizona statute “a potent example of legislative bigotry and open persecution of people based on…race and class.”
Nor is he alone in ranting over the purportedly ghastly mistreatment of illegal—that is, undocumented–immigrants who simply want value for their taxpayer funded educations.
Throughout the internet, liberals are outraged that Arizona legislators would even consider putting an end to classes simply because they teach the benefits of revolution against the United States or the justifiable hatred of whites.
And apparently, this is precisely what has been going on in classrooms in Tucson and around the state. For on two occasions the law has been tested in court, once last year and again in January. And in both cases, judges have ruled against the Tucson Unified School District, making it clear that evidence introduced by the state of unlawful classroom antics is true.
Clearly, teachers have been promoting racial resentment, suggesting revolt against the government, and instructing children that hatred of whites is altogether justified. And the American left not only applauds such sparkling lessons plans, they are passionate about them continuing!
Were positions reversed and white students taught to hate and resent blacks or Mexicans, would the left furiously lobby to overturn a law passed to correct the situation?
A federal judge has just taken under advisement a lawsuit filed by two Mexican students seeking to have the law declared unconstitutional. Apparently, the left will continue its process of appeal until it has found a dependable, liberal activist in robes who will be pleased to overturn the work of the legislature. And that won’t be anything new, will it?!

BSA Committee Unanimously Rejects Political Correctness
An important American institution recently bucked continuous calls to take a politically correct stance on homosexuality, opting instead to uphold a moral position it has maintained for more than a century.
A panel of 11 Boy Scouts of America leaders has been discreetly considering a policy change that would allow gays, either scouts or leaders, to become involved in the program. The result of the two-year-long review was a resounding affirmation of the previous position, excluding homosexuals from the Boy Scouts.
BSA Chief Executive Bob Mazzuca stated the majority of those involved in the program support the decision. Of course, there are plenty on the radical left who vehemently disagree.
In its own way, the BSA is engaging in a brand of capitalism on which America has thrived. A private organization made a policy decision which, while not satisfying everyone, was deemed most appropriate for its constituents.
This is the basis for the supply-and-demand model, which works equally well with services as it does with physical products. After carefully considering both sides of the issue, leaders made a unanimous decision, which they felt would best suit the entire organization. The occasional scout kicked out for being gay makes for sensational headlines, but the group’s leaders must make decisions based on the big picture. In my opinion, that’s exactly what they did.
Liberals might have given the BSA kudos initially had the ruling gone otherwise, but a huge segment of its base would have immediately withdrawn their support. In the long run, the praise of leftists would dissipate as well, when another politically incorrect position came under fire. There’s no way to satiate those on the left hungry for blood, especially for members of an unashamedly Christian-based group dedicated to instilling traditional morals and values on the next generation.
These 11 unnamed leaders ruled with wisdom, preserving one of the last remaining all-American organizations. As for those within the organization vocally opposed to the decision, I hope and pray rational minds prevail.
Considering the constant bashing private businesses have taken under the current administration, though, I suppose one cannot rule out a direct decree, under the guise of inclusion, ordering the BSA to allow as many sexual deviants as show an interest. I can imagine the hesitation of parents to send children away with a scout leader who feels the need to identify himself through his sexuality will be of little importance to the left, except for the purpose of labeling them intolerant bigots.
