Islamic Cleric In Gaza Rejects Israel’s Existence

Islam symbol SC Islamic cleric in Gaza rejects Israel’s existence

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip — A prominent Islamic scholar making a landmark visit to the Gaza Strip declared Thursday that Israel has no right to exist and voiced his support for rocket fire on Israel, giving a boost of legitimacy to the militant Islamist Hamas rulers of the Palestinian territory.

Yusuf al-Qaradawi is the latest of a few high profile figures visit Gaza, boosting the Hamas effort to break its international isolation. The U.S., EU and Israel brand Hamas a terror group, while the rival Fatah, which rules in the West Bank, enjoys Western backing.

Al-Qaradawi issued the strongest anti-Israel declarations of any of the visitors to date.

“This land has never once been a Jewish land. Palestine is for the Arab Islamic nation,” said al-Qaradawi, a Qatar-based cleric made famous by his popular TV show and widely respected in the Muslim world.

“The rockets made in Gaza are more powerful than the (Israeli) occupation’s rockets,” he added.

Obama’s War Is Coming

General Obama Forward Stand Down SC Obamas War is Coming

Obama’s war is coming. President Putin warned him. Prime Minister Netanyahu told him it was likely to happen. Now it may be here. Over the weekend, the Israeli Air Force launched missiles and jets at Damascus, Syria, the second bombing attack in the last forty eight hours.

First, on Friday, the Israeli Air Force bombed a military convoy inside Syria, which they said was transporting weapons to the Hezbollah group of fighters in Lebanon. This was caused, according to the Israelis, in response to the deal that Hezbollah has struck with the Syrian regime. By the account of the Israelis, Hezbollah is providing fighters to assist the regime against the rebels in Syria’s civil war. In return, Syria provides Hezbollah with rockets to use against Israel. The second strike on Saturday was against a military research site inside Syria on the outskirts of Damascus. This second strike has reportedly killed as many as 400 Syrians and injured an unknown number of others.

I am by no means a supporter of the Socialist Government in Syria. What I am warning of are the implications that are below the surface of this conflict. Syria’s primary ally in the region is Iran. Iran, as everyone knows, is no friend of Israel. The Russians have strategic interests in Syria as they have several sea ports there for resupplying their warships and support ships. The Russians have also had a long-standing relationship with Syria. While they do not support the regime’s actions often, they have always been able to depend upon the regime’s support for their needs in the region.

In order to understand how delicate the situation really is, one only needs to look at the last six weeks of activity in the region. Turkey and Syria recently had a stand-off concerning possible deployment of the Patriot Missile systems in the region. Israel and Turkey also recently (supposedly in conjunction with Obama’s trip to the region) patched up their differences over the deaths of Turkish citizens on the Mavi Marmara aid ship. When Turkey called for the deployment of the missile system to establish a no-fly zone over Syria, Russia responded with unscheduled military exercises in the Black Sea off the coast of Syria and with long range flights from Russia into Syria with its nuclear capable bombers. At the same time, China conducted unscheduled exercises in the China Seas. This was just after the conclusions of the BRICS meeting in South Africa, where they discussed the formation of an alternative to the IMF and committed to forming a new international monetary system of exchange that would not include the IMF. China is also currently in a deal with Iran for the country’s oil export for use in China.

It would not be the first time Israel was used as a surrogate operator for the furthering of the US policies in the region. In 1956, when Egypt annexed the Suez Canal, the UK and France conspired with Israel under the direction of (or at least the acquiescence of) the US. They got Israel to attack Egypt; and then once the war had started, they intervened under the premise of taking control of the canal to keep it safe for international trade.

No one at this stage knows if there is a replay of that method of staging an event to ensure the intervention of international forces to assert control over the region. What is evident though is that the world has changed greatly since the US and its allies through NATO and the UN could operate unrestrained to further their empires. The US and their allies have been warned by the increasingly strong BRICS against further interference in the Syrian Civil war. The stage is set for the conflict to begin at any moment. The future is in the hands of the leaders of the West. Will Obama’s plan to bring about the fall of the USA become a reality?

The US has a nearly crippling national debt; should an international conflict of global proportions come to pass, where would the US government acquire the funds it needs to operate the government on a day to day basis, let alone finance a global conflict? Would confidence in the US Dollar as the world’s reserve currency be sustained? If the US Dollar should lose its position, the consequences could be catastrophic for the western world.

Why America Spends So Much On Foreign Aid

20 Dollar Bills SC Why America Spends So Much on Foreign Aid

When our bank accounts start to get low, we all find ways to cut back, right? We scour our budgets, look closely at our needs, and find a way to tighten our belts.

Well, that may happen in our houses, but it never happens in government. Congress continues spending, and our debt keeps growing. And the reason this happens is very simple.

You see, powerful special interests benefit immensely from the spending. And they pass some of the profits back to members of Congress in the form of campaign contributions. In a neighborhood, this might be called protection money. But in Washington, they call it a fundraiser; and it’s perfectly legal.

The Destructive Cycle

Everybody knows about the power of special interest groups at home. But it may come as a surprise that special interests have a huge stake in our foreign aid programs, too. In fact, the connection runs deeper than almost anyone knows. Let me explain.

American foreign aid is structured into two major programs. The first is food aid, and the second is called military aid.

In the U.S. food aid program, the government buys corn, soy, and other farm commodities from American farmers and then ships the foodstuffs to poor and starving villagers around the globe.

That sounds nice in theory. But the program is very damaging to poor farmers across the globe. You see, free food tends to destroy domestic markets. Why would you pay your local farmer to grow soybeans when Uncle Sam will ship them to you for free?

Because of that, the Obama administration is currently pushing a plan to reform foreign food aid. Obama wants to stop buying food from America’s farmers and start sending cash to the world’s poor instead.

But my sources on Capitol Hill tell me that Congress is going to block the reform.

You see, the sad truth is that Congress only supports food aid because farm group lobbyists occasionally drop by and hand out checks. Without the checks, why risk voting for an unpopular program (like foreign food aid) that’s going to send money away from America’s borders?

Ultimately, the power of special interests will completely stymie any efforts to revise our broken food aid program.

Putting Guns in the Wrong Hands

As I said before, the other part of America’s foreign aid is called military aid. Military aid money helps foreign governments buy weapons from America’s arms manufacturers. The money also sends American troops to teach foreign soldiers to use their new weapons.

Military aid allows the United States to get on both sides of many conflicts. For example, we supply advanced military equipment to both Israel and Egypt. The countries are fundamentally at odds, but we win either way.

Military aid occasionally gets us into a lot of trouble, too. Osama Bin Laden got his start with American guns and money. He received aid as part of a radical Islamic group in Afghanistan. Our common enemy was none other than the USSR.

With that in mind, consider our big aid push right now in Syria. We’re funding radical Islamic groups linked to Al Qaeda. Sound familiar?

Times change, and alliances come and go; but our misguided aid program continues unhindered. And why not – the military aid program works great for Congress. Military contractors are happy to deliver checks to congressmen as long as they can continue shipping guns, tanks, and aircraft abroad.

Unfortunately, we can’t expect foreign aid reform anytime soon. The aid programs are ultimately way too profitable to members of Congress, so the spending will go on unabated.

Should We Intervene In The Syrian Civil War?

Syria SC Should We Intervene in The Syrian Civil War?

No. Intervention in Syria’s civil war would not serve America’s interests. Although the regime of Syrian president Hafez Assad is inherently inimical to the United States and Israel as well as to most of his own people, the other side in the civil war may be even more so.

Today, the issues in Syria are pretty strictly about which Syrians will oppress other Syrians, and to what end. Our good intentions toward the Syrian people do not make up for our lack of knowledge of which faction, if any, would best serve their interests – never mind ours – and for our lack of capacity to ensure any particular outcome. The opposition has coalesced into three major groups, the strongest of which are controlled by the Muslim Brotherhood and the Whahabis.

To the extent that either side in today’s strife secures Syria for itself, American interests will suffer. At this time, humanitarian aid to refugees who make it out of the country is the best we can do for Syria. Nevertheless, Syria’s civil war may give us opportunities to serve US interests in the region.

The Assad regime has harmed and endangered America in countless instances ever since its establishment in 1970. The US government could have moved against the Assads in response to any of these, removing a source of trouble and providing incentives for good behavior to other states in the region. We would have been acting for our own sake, in control of the outcome of our initiatives. These missed opportunities for asserting our own interests shed light on the strategies we might employ to deal with whatever might come from the Syrian civil war.

The Assad regime was the Soviet Union’s main Cold War outpost in the Middle East, armed with the latest Soviet weaponry. At first acting on the Soviets’ behalf, and later on behalf or Iran, the Assad regime became arguably the main host of terrorist organizations, and has waged war on Israel through proxy bands it established as “states within the state” in Lebanon.

On two of many occasions, the trouble it made for America put it in the US government’s line of fire. In 1982 the Assads’ war on Israel through the PLO in Lebanon led to Israel’s alliance with the Lebanese government to eradicate the PLO. After that, the US government sought to help Lebanon re-establish control over its territory. It was then that Syrian agents truck-bombed the US Marine barracks killing 241 of them. Had the US government responded properly to this act of war, the Assads would never have troubled anyone again. Instead, Republican and Democratic Administrations eased Syria’s control of Lebanon.

By 2003 the Assads were exercising that control through the terrorist group Hizbullah, were waging war on Israel’s northern border, and acting as Iran’s main proxy. When the US invaded Iraq, the Assads made Syria into the headquarters of anti US forces and the main funnel through which suicide bombers as well as sophisticated weapons killed Americans. A weapon from Syria accounted for the only US Abrams tank killed in Iraq.

The 150,000 US troops in Iraq in 2003 were more than enough to inspire and support whoever we wished to overthrow the Assads, or simply to overthrow them. Instead, the US government contented itself with impotent requests for good behavior. By 2006 an emboldened Syria had provoked war between Hizbullah and Israel. Had the US government not stopped the Israelis, they would have finished permanently crippling this arm of America’s enemies.

Syria’s civil war creates new opportunities for advancing our interests. For example: Hizbullah is occupied trying to support the Assad regime, while that regime is no longer capable of supporting it. These Iranian proxies’ control of Lebanon is open to challenge. Their loss of control would weaken Iran significantly. Lebanon’s independence from Hizbullah, Syria, and Iran is very much in America’s interest.

The US government should give up its half-hearted, mostly-blind, second-hand, ultimately-impotent involvement with the Syrian opposition in favor of open, wholehearted encouragement and support of Lebanese independence. Weakening our enemies is our business, and the current situation offers us another opportunity to mind that business.

Foreigners are likelier to understand actions that we undertake to advance our own interests or in response to harm done to us – provided they are successful – than they are to accept even slight, well-intentioned interventions in their own affairs.

Kerry Compares Boston Bombing Victims To Terror Flotilla Crew

John Kerry SC Kerry Compares Boston Bombing Victims to Terror Flotilla Crew

Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the man Barack Obama installed as Secretary of State, the former Senator from Massachusetts and onetime Democrat presidential candidate John Kerry:

QUESTION: Hi, Mr. Secretary. Thanks for this opportunity. You talked about the importance of a rapprochement between Turkey and Israel, and I wanted to ask you about the operational benefits of that – when we will see them. And if you could also comment on reports in the Sunday Times that Israel is discussing with Turkey placing a base outside of Ankara to give them the capability to reach Iran if need be, if you could comment or confirm. Thanks.

SECRETARY KERRY: Well, I’m not going to comment on the latter, no. Number one, I don’t know enough about it to comment beyond public accounts; and number two, I don’t think it’s appropriate for me to comment on their as-yet-unannounced or perhaps discussed or not discussed initiatives. So I’m not going to comment on that.

With respect to the importance of these steps and where they’re going – I think that’s your question – Turkey – well, tomorrow there’s a meeting and they have an ability to sort of take the next step or lay the groundwork to take the next step. Prime Minister Erdogan is coming to visit Washington in May, in the middle of May. That will be an important next step in this ongoing dialogue. We would like to see us get to a point where we are moving on improving the situation in Gaza, which was part of the agreement that we’re going to try to make sure the goods are moving and life on the ground can improve, which we would like to see happen – all of us, Israel included – and where we are also completing the task of moving to full diplomatic relations between the countries, which would be beneficial to everybody.

I think Turkey is working in very good faith to get there. I know it’s an emotional issue with some people. I particularly say to the families of people who were lost in the incident we understand these tragedies completely and we sympathize with them. And nobody – I mean, I have just been through the week of Boston and I have deep feelings for what happens when you have violence and something happens and you lose people that are near and dear to you. It affects a community, it affects a country. We’re very sensitive to that.

Is America The Next Israel?

Israel flag SC Is America the next Israel?

With the advent of the Boston Marathon bombing, America is beginning to feel like some parts of the Middle East. Consider the frequency with which you hear about a suicide bomber setting himself off in the middle of a shopping area or at a mosque in Iraq, Iran, Syria, or Israel. It’s almost a weekly event. Since Timothy McVeigh blew up the government building in Oklahoma, there has been a steady increase in the number of domestic bombings here in America. Is the price we must pay for having a free society the terrorizing of our citizens?

America has been a melting pot for the gathering of the nations since her inception, but those who come to her shores these days often bring sentiments with them that are not favorable to the rest of us. Instead of moving here to start life over with all of the opportunities America has to offer, many come here now to spread the poison of their radical religious beliefs, or specifically for the purpose of trying to destroy our nation through covert terrorist activity. Over the years, these newcomers have been able to convince some of our citizens that violence against our own people is a valid way of expressing their disagreement with our politics.

This is not to say that the bombing in Boston will turn out to be the result of a foreign terrorist action, but the point to be made is that we are no longer the land of the free and the home of the brave that so many foreigners sought refuge in in days gone by. Granted, our nation was started with political violence, but it was because of outside powers taking unlawful actions against us. Today’s violence has nothing to do with moral motives. We are one of the last bastions of freedom on the planet; and there are many, both inside our borders and outside of them, who desire to see that liberty destroyed and replaced with a socialist government. What will it take to preserve our freedoms?

It’s not hard to imagine a day in the near future when armed guards will be visible everywhere on our streets. You’ll see them in restaurants, at gas stations, and in shopping centers. For certain, there is an armed presence in our country as of today, but nothing compared to what may become a reality for us as our government seeks to find a way to combat the type of guerrilla warfare that is growing on our streets. Israel protects itself with machine gun-packing police officers covering the streets daily. Is that the future we can expect in America?

Boston Tragedy Points To The Need For A Spiritual Renewal

An appeal to heaven flag Boston Tragedy Points to the Need for a Spiritual Renewal

It seems as if our whole country is falling apart. When crazed individuals kill others as in Sandy Hook, or bombers strike as in Boston, one wonders if we will be forced to live under the specter of violence every day in our lives.

The Boston killing on Monday of three people and injuring of more than 170 during the running of the city’s marathon reveals a hints of troubling cultural problems. For years, we have lived in relative safety from such attacks, while Europeans and those in places such as Israel have suffered from violence in public places. Now it’s happening here.

But why? Are we becoming weak in some way — and thus victimized by enemies within and without?

A recently-published book compares Europe’s cultural and economic slide with America’s similar increasing woes that might cast light on the problem. Titled Becoming Europe: Economic Decline, Culture, and How America Can Avoid a European Future, it is authored by researcher Samuel Gregg, who talks about Europe’s fallout after World War I and II and the tug of war between Christian and socialist ideology since then. Socialist policy is certainly winning there, and now we are seeing similar growing economic problems and violence that we don’t want to see on this side of the Atlantic.

Spiritual Renewal as a Defense

I’d like to suggest that we need a spiritual as well as economic and political renewal to enable our citizens to live in safety and peace.

A culture strong in the values of hard work, honesty, and a fear of God provides the spiritual infrastructure that provides for well-balanced people who don’t go shooting school children or killing others randomly.

I might be wrong, but it looks to me like Boston may have been a lone-wolf Al-Qaida attack. That is, a small operation of the kind that Al-Qaida encourages; but yet there is no communication with the terrorists in the field. It can be done by just a few (or even one person), and thus it is very difficult for the FBI to trace.

If it is Al-Qaida, it helps to understand their mindset. One reason why Muslim extremists hate us is because of our materialism — how we get wrapped up in our SUVs and wide-screen TVs, forgetting about God, and practicing all kinds of sexual license and perversion. This of course doesn’t justify killing innocent people, but it may point to a cause and effect. A moral and religious society, on the other hand, would garner more respect from these people instead of attacks.

“Get Religion Out”

I saw a bumper sticker on a car yesterday in the parking lot of a private, non-religious grammar school near my home; the school’s principal prides himself on the idea of a secular education. The sticker proclaims “Get religion out of politics.” Whoops — that’s dangerous thinking, folks. What would happen to the moral glue in society if we divorced our laws from a respect for Christianity and the Ten Commandments? I’d rather see a bumper sticker that says “Get atheism out of politics.”

Christian preacher and speaker Bradlee Dean has it right. He says in his recent column, “Know Your History”: “When we are no longer rooted in the same principles, corruption seeps in and begins to divide and conquer through outlets such as the media, public schools and colleges.” (Disclosure: Dean and his ministry, You Can Run International, are clients of our PR firm, TreeFrogClick, Inc.)

See Bradlee Dean’s YouTube video, which criticizes the rapture, “End Timers and Our Founding Fathers”:

Dean adds in his straight-talking way: “I can just now hear the media, the teacher, the ‘well-educated’ college professor or the philosopher (using big words with common-sense meanings) decry, ‘We are not a Christian nation’…. In their confusion they blurt out the truth: They would rather listen to man’s 10,000 commandments than to God’s Ten Commandments.”

Proverbs 14:34 says “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” The Boston killings were tragic, and there will be lots of angst and money spent over how to prevent it in the future. But we cannot keep every public trash can bomb-free or put an armed guard at every shopping mall entrance, sports venue, and public gathering. We can’t outlaw pressure cookers, nails, or backpacks. That kind of security must come from a society that anchors its customs and laws on morality, a fear of God, and a respect for the Christian church.

What Happened To “Never Again”?

Never Again SC What Happened to “Never Again”?

Human Rights activist Pamela Geller was scheduled to speak at the Great Neck Synagogue on April 14th until the synagogue’s officials caved to the bully tactics of Islamic bigot Habeeb Ahmed and others who relentlessly threatened and browbeat them should they go through with her speaking engagement.  Ahmed’s kind loath open dialogue and ruthlessly vilify anyone who speaks the truth about the violence and extremism so prevalent in Islam.  They vilified Geller and threatened among other things to march against the synagogue.  The GNS’s officials could have resisted these threats; they could have championed free speech loudly.  They could have weathered that storm and stood courageously and righteously against these present-day Nazis who were trying to deny their First Amendment rights.  Instead, they acquiesced; and now they will never be able to live down their utter spinelessness.  As Steve Goldberg so aptly put it, “They have disgraced their congregation, their families, and the entire Jewish community.”

Here is the Great Neck Synagogue Executive Committee’s statement:

As the notoriety and media exposure of the planned program this Sunday have increased, so has the legal liability and potential security exposure of our institution and it’s [sic] member families. In an era of heightened security concerns it is irresponsible to jeopardize the safety of those who call Great Neck Synagogue home, especially our children, even at the risk of diverting attention from a potentially important voice in the ongoing debate. Accordingly, the Great Neck Synagogue Men’s Club will no longer be sponsoring the appearance of Pamela Geller this coming Sunday, and no event will be taking place in our facility.

The Great Neck Synagogue could have dealt with the harassment and intimidation in any number of ways.  Notably, they could have widely publicized it; but instead, Geller herself was the one to expose it on her website Atlas Shruggs along with Tom Trento of The United West.  In the face of threats to march on the synagogue, they could have rallied the community to band together and stand firmly against the oppression of free speech.  They could have counter-protested.  If they indeed felt their children were threatened, they could have requested police protection and, again, exposed those (illegal) threats publicly.

Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch writes:

[T]he precedent is reinforced that smear campaigns work, and that all the foes of freedom have to do in order to shut down any voices opposed to them is mount a campaign simultaneously vilifying and demonizing their targeted speaker and showing the host the price he will have to pay for featuring the target.

I have lived and worked in Great Neck, and family of mine lived there for nearly their whole lives.  It is a very strong community.  I can’t help but remember on 9-11 the train station parking lots filled with cars that would never be retrieved by those who worked in the Twin Towers.  Great Neck, like many New York City suburbs, was devastated by that terrorist attack.  It is shocking that they would capitulate to the terrorist tactic of threatening violence and protest to stifle free speech.  On second thought, maybe it isn’t so shocking.  Great Neck is also a very liberal community, prone to the fake clichés of diversity, tolerance, and Islam as a religion of peace.  Perhaps it is more surprising that they stood against the threats as long as they did.  But by surrendering, they have betrayed themselves, each other, and Jews the world over.  They have betrayed everyone who has fought to protect and defend their First Amendment rights, and they have paved the way for more such intimidation to take place.

As Hitler was gathering power in 1930’s Germany, the Jews and others kept giving their oppressors the benefit of the doubt.  They let the Nazis take their weapons, close their businesses, and shove them into ghettos.  They told themselves it was just temporary.  So many didn’t fight back and didn’t realize the mortal threat against them until the camp gates slammed home.  Anti-Semitism is more prevalent today than ever.  Muslim extremists all over the world proclaim their hatred of the Jews and all freedom-loving peoples; they call daily for the destruction of Israel and the Jews.  They teach their children to hate, not to live in peace with their neighbors.  They thrash the right to speak freely worldwide; they demand the slaughter of anyone who disagrees with them or speaks out against them.  We know their aim.  Stopping free speech and open dialog is just the beginning of subjugation.  Yielding to their threats while we are still in a free America is reprehensible.  Shame on the officials of the Great Neck Synagogue.
