Malkin: Real Moms Of The GOP Vs. White House SOP

Ann Romney SC 300x199 Malkin: Real Moms of the GOP vs. White House SOP

The authenticity of conservative women has always been under attack by radical orthodox feminists, but perhaps not as brazenly as by someone with such direct and frequent access to the corridors of the White House message machine as Hilary B. Rosen.

The D.C. career lobbyist and Democratic media strategist took to CNN’s airwaves this week to craft a left-wing “War on Women” attack on the real moms of the GOP. Ostensibly aiming at Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his “old-fashioned” views of women, Rosen’s mouth instead shot off in the direction of wife, stay-at-home mother of five, grandmother of 16, and cancer and multiple sclerosis survivor Ann Romney. Mrs. Romney, sneered Rosen, “never worked a day in her life” outside of the home and should have no voice on women’s issues.

President Obama never met a payroll in his life, but that hasn’t stopped him from dictating what business owners across the country should and shouldn’t be doing. But I digress.

This was no accidental rhetorical drive-by. “Progressives” from Gloria Steinem to Patricia Ireland to Naomi Wolf have derided their conservative counterparts as female impersonators, fake women and men with breasts from time immemorial. It’s SOP: standard operating procedure. In 1992, Hillary Clinton mocked women who stayed at home and “baked cookies and had teas.” In 2004, blueblood Teresa Heinz Kerry, wife of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. John Kerry, sniffed that first lady Laura Bush (a former teacher and librarian before becoming a homemaker) never “had a real job — I mean, since she’s been grown up.”

Alas, if you’re a conservative mom, you’re damned if you do stay home and damned if you don’t. In 2008, Howard Gutman, a member of the Obama campaign’s national finance committee, attacked GOP vice presidential candidate and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s ability to be a good parent and have a high-powered public life at the same time. “Your responsibility is to put your family first,” Gutman lectured as he singled out Palin’s Down syndrome baby and then-pregnant teenage daughter. “The proper attack is not that a woman shouldn’t run for vice president with five kids; it’s that a parent, when they have a family in need…” should get out of the public sphere and stay home.

Fox Veers Left, Hires Jesse Jackson’s Daughter

Fox News channel SC 300x225 Fox Veers Left, Hires Jesse Jackson’s Daughter

The Washington Examiner is reporting that the supposed bastion of conservative news, the Fox News Channel, has veered a little further to the left by hiring Jesse Jackson’s eldest daughter, Santita, who is a Chicago talk-radio personality.

Jackson will join a growing legion of left-wingers at Fox that includes Jehmu Greene and Sally Kohn. Greene is the former president of the Women’s Media Center, which was founded by Jane Fonda, Robin Morgan and Gloria Steinem, and Kohn is a former senior strategist for the Soros-funded Center for Community Change.

Fox’s moves to beef up its liberal lineup continue to confound conservatives who see no need for the top-rated cable news network to give liberals even more of a voice than they currently have. They already have MSNBC and CNN, along with the rest of the mainstream media.

Masculinity And The American Male

Man Fishing Old SC Masculinity And The American Male

My six year old first grader is wide-open, 100 mph from dawn until dusk.  He overflows with energy, laughter and excitement.  He also sits in school a good portion of the day.  Kameron, like other rambunctious little boys, has trouble sitting hour after hour while he reads, pushes his pencil and colors his pictures. He has a very patient teacher who loves him dearly, yet refuses to allow him to drop below her level of expectation.  He is familiar with the principal’s office.  He has missed a lot of recess and he has often been deprived of the things he enjoys most in life as a punishment for misbehavior at school.  His mother and I insist that he learn to obey and respect his elders and that he learn to cooperate and share with his peers and that he practice self-control.  It will be a long and tedious journey but we are very confident that Kameron will learn these lessons well and one day he will develop in a fine young man.

We are very satisfied with his educational experience but we are also aware of the difficult dynamic of educating young boys.  Their rambunctious display of energy is often considered detrimental to learning and desperate attempts are made to suppress it.  Little girls seem to thrive in a system that requires they sit still and use cooperative and creative skills.  The little male warriors are expected to do the same.   If little boys fail to sit still and act like little girls they are often ‘diagnosed’ with a ‘psychiatric disorder’ (ADHD) and fed Ritalin tablets to bridle behavior.  Learning and behavioral problems are not cured by Ritalin.  Ritalin simply treats the symptoms, the problem is still there.  Is it not troubling that so many child psychiatrists begin their diagnosis by claiming that they, too, are ADHD?  Our society has become insanely dependent on chemicals to treat the symptoms of their emotional, physical and spiritual problems while ignoring the possibility of discovering and destroying the root cause of their problems.

If a young boy’s raucous behavior can be tempered and controlled it can be a great benefit to the development of the child and to society in general.  These energetic, masculine expressions need to be fostered and developed, not chemically suppressed or destroyed.  The aggressive, independent boy who is ‘too big for his britches’ may one day be the quarterback of the football team or point guard on the basketball team.  He may lead a group of Navy Seals to save innocent lives by capturing or killing of an evil tyrant.  He may help colonize the moon, build an empire or change the world in which he lives by making an astounding discovery or invention.  Should we not control the development of a young boy’s masculinity rather than try to feminize him?

It is likely my son will advance to the 7th or 8th grade before he finally has a male teacher.  By the time he graduates from high school he will have accumulated 14,000 instructional hours in school.  His life will be dominated by female personalities. That’s why, as his father, I am determined to teach and demonstrate for him masculinity.  Wrestling contests, fishing and camping trips, baseball and target practice are activities that will help him distinguish his masculine role. There are multiple life lessons to learn through competition and adventure. Children with no father in the home are disadvantaged but are often taught to blaze their own trail by surrogate male role models such as grandfathers, uncles and coaches.

I’ve taught high school teen-agers for nearly 30 years.  I’ve watched as masculinity has slowly declined and nearly disappeared among a large number of young males.  Some of them are ashamed to act manly.  Some are simply confused about gender roles in society.  Some have been taught that superior male strength should be used to dominate and control women rather than protect them.  Masculine independence is a foreign concept to many.  Many have had females take care of them their whole lives and they expect this to continue throughout their adulthood. This has created a generation of young males who are petrified of a marriage commitment or the prospects of actually having to provide for the children they father.  Too many 30-year- old males are still playing video games at home, complaining because mom hasn’t made supper yet, while their female counterparts have achieved a bachelor’s degree by age 22 and a master’s degree by age 24.

Feminization of the male is a problem among Christians just as it is in the secular world.  Male leadership in the Christian high school where I teach rarely exists outside of the area of athletics.  If you visit some of the Christian ministries on our university campuses you will mostly see women in charge.  We have feminized church ministries.  Men may need a shoulder to lean on but they are often embarrassed when offered a shoulder to cry on.

Hollywood has a much greater impact in teaching worldview to our youth than the church does.  Television entertainment has dedicated a large portion of its programming to the feminization of men.  The American family watches an average of 5 hours of television per day.  Your child may have watched over 142,000 hours of television by his sixteenth birthday. (Nielson Research, Leichtman Research Group, Podcasting News.com)  Everybody loves how Raymond is such a doofus while Debra, his wife, seems to have a solution to every problem.

The feminization of men is not always a passive, subconscious yield to a popular trend in society.  It is also the result of a radical feminist hate movement that was birthed in the 1960’s by women like Betty Friedan (The Feminine Mystique) who compared the suburban home to a concentration camp and encouraged women to seek fulfillment outside of their marriages.  Another radical feminist, Gloria Steinem, attempted to stir hatred for men by exaggerating violence in the home to mythical proportions.  She opposed the ‘patriarchy’ element in society by declaring, “The most dangerous situation for a woman is not an unknown man in the street, or even the enemy in wartime, but a husband or lover in the isolation of their own home.” (Revolution from Within: A Book of Self-Esteem, pp. 259-61)  I would never minimize the problem of physical violence in American homes, but to make a blanket accusation that all men beat their wives is like saying all Eskimos are stupid or all Swedes are ugly.  It demonstrates how one’s feelings of hatred, in this case, hatred for men, can totally eliminate one’s ability to be rational.

Our perfect example of masculinity was Christ himself.  Real masculinity isn’t lording it over those who are weaker.  Rather, it’s about caring for them and protecting them.  Christ was not averse to using violence (Mark 11:15-19) when it came to defending his Father and what belonged to his Father.  He never raised his hand to bring harm to a woman.  He treated women with utmost respect and his love for children was unprecedented.  He thought so little of his earthly life that he was willing to subject himself to the humility of a public beating by the Roman soldiers and finally a brutal death on a wooden cross to purchase salvation for those he loved.

True masculinity is the loving of our wives as Christ loved the church.  (Ephesians 5:25)  Real men don’t just procreate. They rear their children with love and compassion. They sacrifice for them, protect them and invest tremendous amounts of time and energy in their lives.  Our society needs men, real men, Christ-like men, more now than ever before.

Radical Feminists: Reformers Or Reprobates

Abigail Adams SC 230x300 Radical Feminists: Reformers or Reprobates
Abigail Adams was wife of the 3rd president of the United States.  She and John Adams fell deeply in love and were married in 1764.  Their marriage was not just the union of a husband and wife. They were close companions, the best of friends. They counseled each other. They were lovers in the truest since of the word.  Abigail was the daughter of a Congregational minister and professed to be a Christ-follower in 1759.  She was not so unusual except for one major thing; she was a radical feminist in her time.

The wife of President Adams was continually stepping out where few women were brave enough to tread.  John was proud of the fact his wife could run the farm more efficiently than he when he was off on a diplomatic mission.  She openly questioned the southern patriots who clamored for liberty when they so blatantly denied liberty to their fellow man.  Abigail endured great criticism when she enrolled a black boy in a local evening school.

Abigail Adams fought for the rights of women by declaring they should not simply be attractive ornaments hanging on their husband’s arm.  They should be educated.  They should be involved in the education of others.  She insisted that women should have a voice in their government.  She continually reminded her husband that women deserved better, “I cannot say that I think you are very generous to the ladies; for, whilst you are proclaiming peace and good-will to men, emancipating all nations, you insist upon retaining an absolute power over wives.”  (New Viewpoints in American History, Arthur Meier Schlesinger, p.109)

John and Abigail were happily married for 54 years.  Abigail’s love for her husband was never questioned.  They had many children together.  One would ascend to the Presidency of the United States as did his father.  Abigail was ever conscience of the need in the hearts of men for the grace of God.  She wrote of her assurance “that those who fear God and work righteousness shall be accepted of him…”  (Dictionary of U & U Biography, Abigail Adams)

Now let us fast-forward 240 years and look at where feminism has come.  This is not your mother’s feminism.  It is not the feminism of Sojourner Truth, Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Cady Stanton.  It is the feminism of Gloria Steinem, Betty Freidan and Andrea Dworkin.

Does Sandra Fluke represent the feminist movement in 2012?  Ms. Fluke recently testified before Congress demanding her ‘right’ to free birth control from Catholic Georgetown Law School.  (No laughing please, I know she is coughing up $43,750 to pay tuition at Georgetown University Law Center, top-law-schools.com.)  Ms. Fluke had no qualms about violating the religious rights of those who oppose such a thing in order to selfishly protect herself from the consequences of her own sexual immorality. (Assuming her desire for free birth control is not for medical purposes.)  Abigail Adams would have had a few words of advice for a radical feminist who insisted that her birth control be subsidized by those whose conscience it violated.

Does this mark the death of feminism?  Can anyone really take the movement seriously?  For hundreds of years the movement was admired because they fought for things that were honorable; education, women’s suffrage, equal rights and equal pay.  Abigail Adams and her ilk fought to correct injustices and eliminate atrocities aimed at women.  Now, the radical feminists are fighting for the right to have tax payers buy their contraceptives so they can participate in illicit, promiscuous sex?  Why are these women not trying to emancipate sex slaves throughout the world?  Why are they not trying to eliminate the detrimental institution of polygamy?  Why are they not committed to the rescue of innocent female children who are being sexually assaulted?  Why are they not fighting the spread of pornography and its destructive depiction of women as simple sex objects created for the sexual pleasure of men?  There are so many noble causes to rally around but instead they choose to create a battle that involves forcing others to pay for their sexual pleasures?

Abigail Adams was all about how she and her husband could help each other.  She was not divisive, she was not hateful.  She loved him deeply and patiently worked with him to make him understand.  She embraced the Judeo-Christian concept taught in Genesis 2:24 “Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.”  The feminism of Abigail Adams was about loving her man, not despising him.

Is this the death of feminism?  Can anyone really give credence to a radical movement that is so hate-driven?  No one can take seriously the ideas of the Ku Klux Klan because they are blinded by their hatred of blacks.  Who could give the Jew-hating Nazis any serious consideration?  When Iranian leader Ahmadinejad spouts his hatred for Israel at the U.N. few take him seriously.  When radical feminism is no longer about improving the lives of the oppressed, when it is only about hating men, who can take them seriously?

It seems a good movement has been hijacked by those consumed and blinded by their own misandry.  Here are but a few examples of man-hatred:

  • “All sex, even consensual sex between a married couple, is an act of violence perpetrated against a women,” – Catherine MacKinnon, Professing Feminism: Cautionary Tales from the Strange World of Women’s Studies.
  • “Only when manhood is dead–and it will perish when ravaged femininity no longer sustains it–only then will we know what it is to be free.” Andrea Dworkin, Our Blood: Prophecies And Discourses On Sexual Politics - The Root Cause.
  • “I feel that ‘man-hating’ is an honorable and viable political act, that the oppressed have a right to class-hatred against the class that is oppressing them.” – Robin Morgan, editor of MS magazine.

The radical feminist movement has lost its way.  They are eaten up with hatred, not just hatred for men but also self-hatred.  The movement desperately needs to be rescued by women of integrity who know how to love instead of hate.  It was a movement that fought for decency, chastity and rightness. Has it now become a movement that is fighting for indecency and immodesty?  Sandra Fluke is fighting for the right to have sex anytime, anywhere with anyone and insists that others pay for it.  Is this what the feminist movement has come to, demanding the right to be mere sex-objects?  Is the totality of a woman’s nobility now simply to have earned the right to free birth control in order to fornicate without consequences?

When a love is replaced by hatred it leads to a corruption or perhaps even an extinction of values.  It is blinding.  Hatred can never extinguish itself; its only antidote is love.

The Fox News Feminists

kohn8332 300x300 The Fox News Feminists

As tens of thousands of Americans stage a “March for Life” against abortion in Washington, D.C., new Fox News Channel paid contributor Sally Kohn will be singing the praises of the abortion industry. Kohn, a lesbian feminist, is an alumnus of the Women’s Media Center, which celebrates the 39th Anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the landmark Supreme Court decision that struck down all laws against abortion.

Kohn, the latest addition to the “Fox News Family,” has argued that the Republican Party is trying to “kill women” by cutting funding for Planned Parenthood, the largest abortion provider in the U.S. The Women’s Media Center was founded in 2005 as a “progressive women’s media organization” by writers/activists Jane “Hanoi Jane” Fonda, Robin Morgan and Gloria Steinem.

The goal of the Women’s Media Center in “making women visible and powerful in the media” has achieved a noticeable objective in the hiring of Sally Kohn by the Fox News Channel. But it’s not the only feminist breakthrough with Fox. Jehmu Greene, who became a Fox News contributor in 2010, is a former president of the Women’s Media Center. She is also a Democratic Party operative who was the national director of Project Vote, a group with close ties to the corrupt ACORN organization.

ACORN whistleblower Anita Moncrief, a former Project Vote/ACORN employee, says Project Vote acquired funds to run voter registration drives through ACORN. But the ACORN connection has been curiously omitted in Jehmu Greene’s bios, and she gets extremely upset when it is mentioned, Moncrief told Accuracy in Media.

Moncrief wrote about Greene’s previously unknown relationship to ACORN through Project Vote in a column, “Former ACORN insider infiltrates Fox News,” which appeared on the website Hot Air and other sites on September 7. “In 2006 ACORN was running a massive campaign across the country to raise the minimum wage,” she said. “Their efforts were tied in with Project Vote’s voter registration drive and the subsequent takeover of the House of Representatives by Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats.”
