When the Democrats took over Congress in 2006, paving the way for the triumphal entry of Barack Obama, a shiver ran down the spines of conservatives across the country. For six years, Democrats had perfected the politics of personal attack, demonizing Bush and Republicans daily, relying on misrepresentations damaging to the country.  A complicit media was glad to assist, and too many voters succumbed to the seductive voice of the serpent.

Leading up to the 2008 election, many voices warned that it would be a serious mistake putting an unknown and unqualified individual in the White House.  Many others pointed out his radical background, his questionable connections to violent radicalism, and his glaring anti-Americanism. These prophetic voices were marginalized with charges of racism; and again, the media cooperated with a global effort to herald a new deliverer.  The Chicago machine had become an international juggernaut funded by foreigners.

After the election came the blitzkrieg: czars, expanded bureaucracy, legislative snowstorms, executive orders, insane spending, etc. In short, radicalization on every front, hope and change turning to fundamental transformation, with the Constitution and economic freedom squarely in the crosshairs.

Enemies of the state were identified, pressed, squeezed, and isolated for ridicule.  The first to feel the full brunt of the Thug Brigade: Sarah Palin.  When the Tea Party hit the streets in 2009 calling only for financial responsibility in government and respect for the Constitution, the Thug Brigade was deployed with the help of the MSM, attacking viciously again with accusations of racism.

The net result: deeping divisions, rancor, economic devastation—all the tools of Marxists for 100 years used to demoralize and conquer from within.

Had it not been for alternative media like Fox, talk radio, conservative publications, and a growing army of citizen activists online, the juggernaut would have entirely overwhelmed traditional Americanism.  As it was, alternative voices were not enough to overcome the juggernaut in 2012, although retaining the House in 2010 (thanks to the Tea Party) at least demonstrated the Founders’ wisdom in installing a system of checks to thwart the ambitions of tyrants.

And now what was predicted is coming true: when you elect corrupt incompetence, (surprise!) you get corruption and incompetence.  The short list of scandals is sufficient to end this nightmare via resignation or impeachment, assuming Republicans don’t fumble the ball: Benghazi, SEAL Team Six, IRS, AP, Fast & Furious, Boston Bombing, EPA, election fraud, Obama’s records, corruption in DOJ, and ObamaCare.  (Did we mention bankruptcy, collapse of the dollar, and escalations by enemies abroad and at home?  Stay tuned.)

Matters have so deteriorated that even the MSM has started seeing the light; and some Democrats have entered the CYA zone, fearing voter reprisals in 2014.

It is now up to public officials, patriots, and alternative media to keep the issues on the table and proceed with formal, criminal investigations, following evidence wherever it leads, even if it leads into the Oval Office.  As Marco Rubio pointed out recently, at the very least, this President has created an atmosphere encouraging IRS criminality; and according to Obama’s own words, he is responsible.  When your ‘leadership’ is nothing more than a revenge campaign, it is no wonder chaos ensues.

Finally, it is hoped that citizens will learn the central lesson here, articulated by Plato 2,400 years ago:

“The price good men pay for indifference to public affairs is to be ruled by evil men.”

Expensive gasoline is a signature of the Obama Era, and it’s going to shoot up another 6 to 9 cents per gallon under new Environmental Protection Agency rules, if the oil industry’s estimates are correct. An estimated additional cost of $130 per car on new vehicles will also be part of the package. The goal of these regulations is to reduce tailpipe emissions by cutting down on the amount of sulfur and nitrogen oxide in gasoline. The cost won’t be easily absorbed by a weak economy struggling to emerge from years of anemic growth.

The EPA, of course, says the gas price increase will be much smaller – only a penny or two per gallon – but as Charles Drevna, head of the American Fuel and Petrochemical Manufacturers, ruefully noted to Fox News, “I haven’t seen an EPA rule on fuels that has come out since 1995 that hasn’t said it would cost only a penny or two more.” For what it’s worth, the American Energy Alliance notes that the price of gasoline in California, where these fuel standards are already in effect, is 38.9 cents per gallon higher than the national average.

It should come as no surprise that much of this proposed gas price increase is a tithe to the bizarre Church of Global Warming, which soldiers on even after the total debunking of “global warming” mythology over the past two years. In fact, according to CNS News, the Obama Administration is now amusing itself by issuing reports that say we were going to have a brutal Ice Age, but “because of humans, the next ice age has been ‘delayed indefinitely.’” That’s how the cult leaders are claiming that global warming is real, despite the utter lack of verifiable evidence that any significant “climate change” is occurring. So… another wing of the Administration wants to spend billions to reduce the very same emissions that are protecting us from a new Ice Age?

But leaving the radical environmental lunacy aside, there could be significant health benefits from the new regulations due to reduced sulfur emissions, and the corresponding health care savings might offset, or even outweigh, the increased gasoline cost. Some auto manufacturers think the new standards will also improve fuel efficiency, which would ameliorate sticker shock at the pump.

Obama Abusing The Declaration

In response to being called out on the carpet for his tyrannical methods, Obama stated publicly, “I am not a dictator.”

Whatever Obama says, you can rest assured he is doing the exact opposite, calling “evil good and good evil” and putting “darkness for light, and light for darkness” (Isaiah 5:20).

To add to Obama’s list of abuses, his administration attempted to justify drone strikes on his own people. The American people are now beginning to realize we are no longer speaking of what happens in Third World countries; it is happening in our own backyard.

What is it that defines a dictator?

Parallel the abuses of tyrant King George III in 1776 to what is happening to the American people under Obama’s administration, and you will see the same tyrannical measures stemming from the same tyrannical ideology.

Replacing King George with Obama, the Declaration of Independence states:

The history of the present [president of the United States] is a history of repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute Tyranny over these States. To prove this, let Facts be submitted. …

He has refused his Assent to Laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.

Operation Fast and Furious: Obama, as an accessory to criminal activity, including murder, asserted executive privilege where law as well as court precedent clearly shows it unlawful.

Obama has used criminal measures to attack American immigration law and illegally usurped constitutional laws by unashamedly announcing he will issue work permits to illegal aliens.

As the chief law-enforcement agent, Obama has refused to enforce the Defense of Marriage Act as well as the Voting Rights Act against a domestic terrorist group, the New Black Panthers.

Obama has been held in contempt of court for refusing to lift the Gulf of Mexico oil-drilling ban.

He has forbidden his Governors to pass Laws of immediate and pressing importance, unless suspended in their operation till his Assent should be obtained;

With no constitutional jurisdiction in the area of states laws regarding illegal immigration, Barack Hussein Obama sued states such as Arizona and Alabama for their laws preventing and prosecuting illegal immigration.

He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance.

Czars, anyone? He has sent his EPA, IRS, DOJ, and other gangsters to sue private American businesses and citizens, steal private lands, and assault churches as well as private groups that oppose him.

He has affected to render the Military independent of and superior to the Civil power.

Obama set criminal precedents as he moved the United States military from the congressional chain of command and used them in Libya with no regard to the violation of the War Powers Act. Obama’s secretary of defense has advised Congress that the military will go to war upon the authorization of the U.N., NATO, or other global entity, excluding any mention of congressional approval.

These are just a few examples of Obama’s “King George” abuses on the American people.

Now the question lies at the feet of America: How are we going to respond?

But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is the their right, it is their DUTY, to throw off such Government. …

It is time for the Declaration of Independence to be resurrected in the same spirit as our forefathers.

What was it about the Dodge commercial, “God Made a Farmer,” that stirred the souls of so many Americans during the Super Bowl? Maybe it was the imagery of the dirt and grit of real America, not the white-washed concrete meccas many of us call home. Maybe for just a moment, we were unplugged from our instant and superficial world and taken back to a time when we were captivated by God’s creation, not what our friends were doing on Facebook. Or maybe it was just the quintessential sound of the late American icon Paul Harvey, whose voice wraps around you like a warm blanket on a cold day. His message was one you could expect for a happy ending, even at a time when happy endings weren’t en vogue.

Or maybe it was the unvarnished idea of the farmer, which is so often identified with America. It is the image of a tough life, one marked by hard work and honest living. A time when men were men, and that was okay. A time when workdays didn’t end until the work was done.

When was the last time anyone gave a second thought as to where their groceries came from? Or, even cared? I haven’t in a long time, at least not until this commercial aired. When I need food, I drive to the nearest grocery store and buy some and become irritated when the date on the milk isn’t as new as I’d like it to be. I’ve never had to provide milk for myself; and I’ll bet farmers feel a certain sense of pride when the shelves are full, and dates are fresh.

But why should we care? Because besides feeding us, American farms feed the world. According to the American Farm Bureau in 2010, one third of the farms in the U.S. exported upwards of “$115 billion worth of American agricultural products.” All this from more than two million farms across the country. Not too shabby, until you consider that in 1935, there were nearly seven million farms. And it’s getting worse.

Farming, like manufacturing, has begun a slow death in this country, sped along by a lazy younger workforce, many of which would rather stare at (as my niece so describes) “glowing rectangular objects” (smart phones) than produce something with soiled hands. According to the EPA, around 40 percent of farmers are 55 years old or older. And according to the 2007 USDA Census of Agriculture, farmers under the age of 45 dropped 21 percent in five years.

The EPA report stated, “The graying of the farm population has led to concerns about the long-term health of family farms as an American institution”; therefore, the direct attack on family farms in 2012 by the Progressive-leaning Obama administration should have come as no surprise to anyone. After massive outcry, the DOL dropped its oppressive imperative banning children from working on their parents’ farms.

In their quest to upend all that makes this country great, Progressives have hijacked the word “progressive” in hopes to paint buttercream icing over the cow dung they call ideology. And many of us have theoretically ingested it, without thought, and have no idea why our stomachs hurt and souls feel empty. It came as no surprise liberals attacked the Paul Harvey Super Bowl commercial. The Atlantic called it “racist,” The LA Times called it “retro,” and some bloggers deemed it “religious.”

All is not lost though because a real and present war still wages for the heart and soul of America. On one side, there are those who would have us wholeheartedly embrace hedonism, self-worship, and bowing down to the god of government. And on the other side, there are those who provide for the needs of the others and still find time to quietly celebrate God, family, country, sacrifice, and the virtues of hard work and self-reliance.

At least Romney had binders. Binders full of qualified women to fill cabinet positions, that is. Democrats mercilessly pounded Romney for the binders comment he made during the 2012 presidential campaign, but I’ll bet the Obama campaign now wishes Romney had passed the binders on to Obama since it seems he’s having a hard time picking women to fill his second term cabinet positions.

The recently released official White House photo of a predominately pale-faced and testosterone-filled cabinet (which I have no problem with) is enough to cause any misinformed voter into wondering what has become of the so-called party of women.

To be fair, women fill about half the White House staff positions; but the highest-level cabinet positions are currently extremely male and predominantly white. This seems a bit odd, considering the media narrative over the past 50 years has painted Republicans as the party of rich white men. But that’s not the case, if you look at the actual highest-level cabinet positions women were appointed to since Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR).

FDR appointed Frances Perkins as the first female cabinet member in 1933. Democrat presidential successors Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, and Lyndon B. Johnson appointed zero.

Republican president Dwight D. Eisenhower appointed Oveta Culp Hobby as the first secretary of the US Department of Health, Education, and Welfare; and Republican president Richard M. Nixon, zero.

At that point in history, after four Democrat and two Republican presidents, two female cabinet members were appointed, one per party.

Republican president Gerald Ford appointed Carla Anderson Hills as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development; and then Democrat president Jimmy Carter appointed Shirley Ann Mount Hufstedler as Secretary of Education, Patricia Roberts Harris as Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary, and Juanita Morris Kreps as Commerce Secretary. The score: Democrats 4 and Republicans 2.

Republican Ronald Reagan appointed Margaret Heckler as HHS Secretary, Ann McLaughlin Korologos as Secretary of Labor, and Elizabeth Dole as Transportation Secretary. Reagan’s successor, Republican president George H.W. Bush, appointed Elizabeth Dole as Labor Secretary, Lynn Morley Martin as his second Labor Secretary, and Barbara Hackman Franklin as Secretary of Commerce. Democrats: 4, and Republicans: 8.

Democrat president Bill Clinton, who thoroughly enjoyed women in the White House, only appointed five women to his cabinet during both terms. Clinton appointed Hazel Reid O’Leary as Energy Secretary, Alexis Margaret Herman as Labor Secretary, Madeleine Albright as Secretary of State, Janet Reno as Attorney General, and Donna Shalala as HHS Secretary. Democrats: 9.

And then there was George W. Bush, God love him. Bush haters may want to take a deep breath before reading how many women he appointed to his cabinet. Gale Ann Norton was the first female Secretary of the Interior, Condoleezza Rice became the first female African American Secretary of State, Elaine Chao enjoyed two terms as Labor Secretary, Ann Veneman was appointed as US Secretary of Agriculture, Margaret Spellings served as Education Secretary, and Maria Cino served as acting Transportation Secretary (until another female, Mary E. Peters, was nominated to that position.) Christine Todd Whitman was appointed as EPA Administrator; and, for a total of nine female appointees, Bush appointed Susan Carol Schwab as US Trade Representative in 2006. Republicans: 17.

This takes us to President Obama, who, in his first term appointed to his cabinet six women including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Secretary of Commerce Rebecca Blank, Secretary of Labor Hilda Solis, EPA Administrator Lisa Jackson, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius, and Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano. So far, Obama’s appointed zero new women for his second.

Since FDR, the Democrat Party has governed over 12 presidential terms with seven presidents, who combined, accounted for 15 female nominees as compared to the GOP’s nine terms, six presidents and 17 female nominees. It seems the “Party of Women” is actually the Republican Party, which doesn’t fit the mold cast by Democrats of a party filled with pregnant, barefoot soccer-moms who forgot to pay for their birth control.

Ninety-six. That’s the number of 60-watt incandescent light bulbs I purchased last weekend after learning the other kind, the compact fluorescent lights (CFLs) environmentalists are so in love with, are hazardous to my health and to the environment. I would have preferred a higher wattage but discovered that the 75-watt version was outlawed January 1st.

It took about three hours to replace every CFL bulb in my house and carefully place them in a huge plastic container used to transport them to the recycling center at a local home improvement store. I said a quick prayer for safety while coasting down the road in my SUV. A HAZMAT decal would have come in handy because had I been in a collision, I had enough mercury on board to make the evening news. And because I am a Conservative, they might have labeled me a home-grown terrorist.

CFLs aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. Back in 2008, some Yale University scientists isolated CFLs’ benefits down to one: lower energy bills. The scientists questioned whether a little savings was worth the danger attached to mercury exposure and “runoff downstream.”

Besides making the environment sick, researchers recently discovered that these “environmentally friendly” light bulbs aren’t friendly to humans either. According to the UK Telegraph, CFLs “should not be left on for extended periods, particularly near someone’s head” because “they emit poisonous materials when switched on.” The report found those “carcinogenic substances” should be “kept as far away as possible from the human environment” because they may cause migraines, skin problems, and breast cancer. Great.

It really makes no sense. Somehow, it’s okay to have mercury housed in delicate glass bulbs inside every home in America; yet the EPA feels compelled to enact new regulations like the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (MATS) limiting mercury emissions from coal-fired power plants promising MATS would raise kids’ IQs, prevent a substantial amount of premature deaths, reduce heart attacks, and lessen childhood asthma. I’d settle for weight control and whiter teeth.

Sounds wonderful. Problem is, the EPA’s logic is about as twisted as a CFL, considering most people don’t live next to a coal-fired plant; but every home in America using CFLs is at risk of mercury exposure.

They say the pricey CFL’s are cost efficient but fail to mention that their measure for efficiency decreases if the bulbs are switched on and off. Nor do they discuss the outrageous price per bulb or the gas usage (carbon footprint) involved in transporting old bulbs. They also fail to factor in human nature; most people will simply discard old bulbs instead of spending their Saturday driving to the recycling center.

Seems to me that enacting the most expensive EPA rule revision in history, MATS, has less to do with people and more to do with coal-fired plants. Back in January 2012, the Washington Times said the rule will cost power plants up to $18 billion a year and “will be passed directly to consumers.” I’ve always believed that Progressives love the planet but hate the people who live on it. Think about it. They are quick to condemn environmental violators but conveniently ignore the massive amounts of mercury Mother Nature herself spews out by way of volcanoes, deep-sea vents, and geysers. Maybe we should tax the planet, just for good measure.

According to Power Engineering Magazine, by 2016, EPA rules will force the shutdown of “32 mostly coal-fired power plants” in 12 states, and possibly 36 others. The shutdowns will lead to higher power costs, less jobs, and potential rationing. Before long, we’ll be rubbing sticks together to cook food, stay warm, and find our way to the community outhouse.

But, in the meantime…tonight I celebrate. I purged my home of all those hazy mercury-filled bulbs, and I’m switching on every last one of my incandescent bulbs to celebrate — in hopes the Google Earth satellite will drift my way and snap a picture. My house will be one of the brightest spots on the planet, second only to Al Gore’s.

“Progressives” have long held the Declaration of Independence as legally unfettered from their view of a “living, breathing Constitution.” They are horrified by the critical and foundational truth “endowment by our Creator” – even omitting the phrase from patriotic-sounding Presidential speeches. There’s more to the moral, spiritual, and philosophical basis of the Constitution than defining “inalienable rights” coming from God.  The Founders’ statements in the Declaration are in bullet points. My observations of these statements are in (parentheses).

There are no new sins of despots, only new spins for undefined change and the tiresome, “Hey get with it, it’s the 18th, 19th, 20th and now the 21st Century” as if the human hunger for freedom and need to observe natural law change with the whims of the arrogant-ignorant. The “21st Century Get with It” crowd exposes the damage done by the aggressors in this modern spiritual war – yes it is spiritual warfare, like it or not.

These direct quotes from the Declaration of Independence need no further explanation. The chronicled history of the Founders is noted as follows:

  • “…repeated injuries and usurpations, all having in direct object the establishment of an absolute tyranny over these states. To prove this, let facts be submitted to a candid world:”
  • He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good (energy, monetary, and foreign policy to destroy our economy and enrich his cronies and our enemies – even to spilling American blood and treasure to install laws and constitutions foreign to and opposed to our Constitution and human freedom.)
  • He has forbidden his governors to pass laws of immediate and pressing importance (illegal immigration over the normal process of welcoming new peoples, maintaining the peace, opposing the Constitution and the citizen’s right of self defense), unless suspended in their operation till his assent should be obtained; and when so suspended, he has utterly neglected to attend to them.
  • He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing with ‘manly’ firmness his invasions on the rights of the people. (Bypassing Congress, creating an ineffective Senate incapable of presenting a budget or responding to bills passed by the House; by Executive Orders, overturning initiatives approved overwhelmingly by the people – immigration policy, marriage under natural law between a man and woman.)
  • He has refused for a long time, after such dissolutions, to cause others to be elected; whereby the legislative powers, incapable of annihilation, have returned to the people at large for their exercise; the state remaining in the meantime exposed to all the dangers of invasion from without, and convulsions within (Occupy anarchism, union thuggery, voter fraud, failure to enforce the borders, establishing an opposing ‘civilian defense force as strong and well-funded as the military.’)
  • He has endeavored to prevent the population of these states; for that purpose obstructing the laws for naturalization of foreigners; refusing to pass others to encourage their migration hither, and raising the conditions of new appropriations of lands (Removing lands from resource exploration and development, draconian EPA and development regulations, minimum and prevailing wage demands to eliminate competition and compromise free enterprise by driving up the cost of doing business and destroying entry-level job opportunities in favor of union control.)
  • He has obstructed the administration of justice, by refusing his assent to laws for establishing judiciary powers (Appointing judges who have disdain for the Constitution, even though they solemnly swear to uphold it – in league with all too many elected and bureaucratic officials.)
  • He has erected a multitude of new offices, and sent hither swarms of officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance (Obamacare, alone with its 159 new agencies and selective privileges in green, health, education, welfare, and union venues. A 312 page set of rules for light bulbs went into effect on 1/1/13.)
  • He has combined with others to subject us to a jurisdiction foreign to our constitution, and unacknowledged by our laws; giving his assent to their acts of pretended legislation: (Conspiring with international financial speculators and passing laws so complicated and indiscernible that they are loaded with special privileges, poison pills, and bureaucratic license such as that being used to attack businesses, citizens, Judaism, and Christianity in general and the Catholic Church in particular. No law should exceed one specific subject area or 100 pages in length; or it is, by definition, pretended legislation.)

By applying Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals and Cloward and Pivens strategies, the Administration and its cronies are overwhelming the system with harassment and untenable regulations, creating dependency within a large segment of the population through ignorance of our laws, traditions, and history; and usurping the parental role and responsibility for raising children in favor of the state. Over 1,300 days have passed since the Senate provided a Constitutionally required budget while refusing to act on House bills passed to carry out Constitutional duties the people elected them for and they swore to uphold.

We all know the same tactics have ultimately failed throughout history at the cost of hundreds of millions of lives amid horrible human suffering and destruction of the works and dreams of many by the sword, the bomb, and the torch. We know better that a Constitutional Republic under God works extraordinarily well and must be restored, or we will suffer the fate of civilizations that came before us. Sadly, the Fourth Estate of the media has become the Fifth Column of complicity rather than the guardians on the ramparts of freedom. Most of the Academy has become the home of political correctness and anarchy at the cost of polite and intelligent discourse.

When the Declaration was written, it was in opposition to long-established colonial power from afar. Declaring independence was the logical means of separation. Today, it is the usurpation of human and Constitutional rights of an established and successful nation. Today, the same offenses must be named and acted on for what it appears to me to be treason!

We have ignored the Declaration and paid the price! Moral issues aside, it costs 3 to 4 times as much for government to usurp community responsibilities for the corporal and spiritual works of mercy – health, education, and welfare, resulting in not only loss of freedom, but gaining a growing mountain of debt. Isn’t it time we re-examine our legacy? We owe it to our founders, to our children, and to Almighty God – regardless of race, ethnicity, or party affiliation. We owe it to our own survival as a people and a nation.
