Yeah I have never understood why they get a decent living and for some reason they don't have to retire realistically like us common joes do. They get a fat retirement for life. They pay nothing to Social Security yet have the nerve to lute social security of funds for special projects never paying it back. Honestly I have yet to see the candidate I feel would be the real deal.

It comes down to who do you want running your life? You or the government? Do you want them to tell you what you can and can't eat? Do you want them to tell you when you are going to get inoculations? Do you want them to tell you that you are now too old and are of no use to anyone, so you can now die? Because even if you are young now, you will eventually be just as old as the sweet little old couple down the street that can't afford to pay for their medical supplies, or meds because the government says they don't need them anymore and are a drain on society. Whatever happened to RESPECT your elders?

There are many other issues Obama has seemed to simply dismissed the major majority of US citizens votes on that is disturbing, such as abortion and gay marriage, which Obama said on national TV that he's strongly in favor of. This really strikes the nerves of the US citizens, who are by the way the major majority against such things. Remember tha big bailouts, where rich bankers used that money from taxpayers to give millions to their CEO's and inverstors? Doesn't that make you just a little angry? There's also the SB1070 law, which the majority of the US citizens wanted to go into affect, that Obama simply told the US citizens, this is the way it's going to be and sent a judge to dismantle the law: If you haven't lived in the Phoenix, AZ valley area, you would not believe just how prejudice Mexicans are. There are many more issues as well. I hope you and your son can reach some sort of agreement to simply dissagree, though in a civil and respectful manner.
So, you and your son have loved and respected each other before your son started watching Fox News Channel? Seems to me that you only love and respect your son when and only when he is seeing the "facts" according to your beliefs, or more likely, what obama tells you to believe. It is a sad state of affairs when our children are now villified for being able to think and process ideas for themselves, that is, when their thoughts go against the liberal mindset. Your son probably doesn't hate you, but is seeing things in a clearer light, and is frustrated that you are not.
Possibly you should consider the reality of the situation. Fox reports on and asks questions on things this administration would rather you did not know the answers too. Your son has not bought into the smoke and mirrors as you seem to have done. Obama has lied to the people of this country over and over. Obama is currently trying to find a way to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants without going through congress. Obama feels that if you earn $50.00 that you should share that money with people who don't work. So the beauty of living in America is I don't have to agree with you, Obama, or anybody. I have a right to my own opinion and if you spent more time seeking the truth rather than believing what Obama says maybe you too would see more eye to eye with your son. Washington has more than its share of "over the hill" people in Government. How many places do you know where they allow people to work until the or 80 or 90 years old? I'm 63. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I've worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven't called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn't inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there's no retirement in sight, and I'm tired. Very tired.
I'm tired of being told that I have to "spread the wealth" to people who don't have my work ethic. I'm tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.
I'm tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to "keep people in their homes." Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I'm willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.
I'm tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have the economy of Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of China , the crime and violence of Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of Iran , and the freedom of speech of Venezuela .

Part 2)….I'm tired of being told that "race doesn't matter" in the post-racial world of Obama, when it's all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S. Senators from Illinois.
I think it's very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.
I'm tired of a news media that thinks Bush's fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama's, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush's military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News? Get a clue. I didn't vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.
I'm tired of being told that out of "tolerance for other cultures" we must let Saudi Arabia use our oil money to fund mosques and mandrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.
Part 3)…I'm tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore's, and if you're greener than Gore, you're green enough.
I'm tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don't think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I'm tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.
I'm tired of illegal aliens being called "undocumented workers," especially the ones who aren't working, but are living on welfare or crime. What's next? Calling drug dealers, "Undocumented Pharmacists"? And, no, I'm not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it's been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I'm willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn't have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military…. Those are the citizens we need.
Part 4)…..I'm tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here's the deal. I'll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we'll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.
I'm tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I'm tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois , where the "Illinois Combine" of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama's cabinet.
I'm tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I'm tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.
Speaking of poor, I'm tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn't have that in 1970, but we didn't know we were "poor." The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

the questioner has two options: (1) re-read and study the Constitution so that she understands it, or (2) amend the Constitution such that it reflects her desires. Requiring the purchase of health care is fully Constitutional under the Commerce Clause… that's settled law since the Great Depression. Objecting to the requirement of the purchase of health care is fine… but it's patently ridiculous to suggest it violates the 13th Amendment. Slavery = actual force or threats of force. Why don't you just not purchase the insurance? Take your fine and move on. It's paramount to disobeying the speed limit: pay the fine and move on.

Feel free to support that claim, Michele… I will agree that I have studied some interpretations of the Commerce Clause suggesting that this is uncharted territory, in that mandated economic action has not been tested before the Court. I think, though, that the effects of the immense cost of health care to the economy, and in turn interstate commerce, support the ability for the government to regulate.
I think if you brought suit that the law violates the 13th Amendment, you'd find that your claim would be immediately dismissed. A better approach would be under the Commerce Clause… at least you might get the case heard that way!
I guess we will have to wait and see, but I'll say this. The gov't should have enforced our Immigration Laws that would have saved BILLIONS of taxes on the American people. It would have driven down costs of Healthcare in many ways. You must understand the underlying truth is that we have a Socialist in the WH that plans on collapsing our Country, this Bill has nothing to do with Healthcare. There are 13 enumerated powers for federal government under the constitution, anything else (commerce clause etc) are irrelevent for case law as they are unconstitutional. It is up to the individual States and local municipalities to implement laws such as mandatory health care it is not the federal governments obligation or duty.

Promote not Provide
Our Founding Fathers made it very clear that the United States of America must not become a welfare state. A big providing government makes its people slaves that state. We became the greatest and most prosperous nation because we have traditionally promoted free market capitalism, not socialism. A federal government established universal health care system is socialism and is against our most cherished principles and values as a nation.

The Founding Fathers defined the basic role of our federal government in the Preamble to the United States Constitution using the phrases; “promote the general welfare” and “provide for the common Defense”. Significant are the meanings of the words “promote” and “provide”. The “Promote the General Welfare" clause of the Constitution establishes a specific requirement that the Federal Government is not to be the provider but only the promoter of welfare to the people. The Congress may only pass legislation that promotes the general best interest of a nation as a whole and not individuals. “Promote the general welfare” does not mean that The Congress should create legislation that takes wealth from some in order to redistribute wealth to others as that is Socialism. "Promote the General Welfare” does not allow entitlements for certain people, but the co-clause; does make a specific requirement that the Federal Government must “provide for the common defense” of all the people.
Obama’s healthcare program is intended to provide welfare to some individuals at the expense of others. Again, the Constitution makes it clear that the federal government is not designed to provide for one segment of society but is specifically designed to prevent spending on anything unless it served all the people as a whole.
The federal government’s role in any healthcare system must be to promote and not to provide.
