Due to budget cuts and lack of police officers on the streets, a Milwaukee sheriff is telling his constituents to forget about calling 911, and instead take a gun training course and arm themselves against criminals.

I would like to ask you to please change the wording of the title you have there, because listening to the recording, he did NOT say “forget about calling 911″ he said “simply calling 911 and waiting is no longer your best option” Your title portrays this very caring and responsible sheriff, as a wreckless vigilante…
I agree 100% we need to be as clear and honest in all our statements or EVERYTHING we say will be painted with the bush of a lie!

THE PEOPLE must SPEAK and speak loudly . The folks in the Mid-east have had their “Arab Spring” we now need to have our “AR SPRING!” Come on someone organize a protest. I have given you a great name, lets all meet in Washington first day of spring. If we can have more people on the Mall than came to Obama’s inauguration we may just be able to save our country. The will of the people is all we have left, if we do not protest NOW while we still have that constitutional right we may never again be free. I did not get that Sheriff was saying not to call 911…he was saying the police cannot be everywhere, there may be some response time, so call 911 and then be ready to defend yourself while waiting for law enforcement. Of course, that’s pure common sense. We live in a rural area….could be 20 minutes or more response time…we know that and are prepared. In an urban setting it might be different…..common sense…….
20 Min? wow I would feel like i was back in the city! LOL the county I am in is in bankruptcy and has shut down several sub stations including the one in my area. I am now near 2hrs (sometimes less but that is what they tell us is best to figure on) And we STILL have libs that try to tell me I should not have my own protection!. I know the type, they would not make it out here one night, first bump in the night and they would be back in the BMW speeding to the city! LOL
lizaz, when seconds could mean the difference between life or death, the police are minutes away! On top of that, the police warn the criminals by using sirens.
Along with the ferocity of those shoving to cram their anti-gun laws down the throats of the majority, I wonder if they are also scheming to tighten the laws allowing people to use any means of force if an intruder enters their home?
It will be interesting to see how long before political pressures roll downhill onto Sheriff Clarke, such as sudden funding cuts, or trumped up charges for minor violations of his office as a way of slapping down any other officials on any level of government from making similar statements.
We need to stand behind him like so many have done for Sheriff Joe, if we stand for them , more will feel free to say what they think and do what is right. I know they should anyway but a man does have to feed his family. Al law enforcement professionals musk know without a doubt that we have their back.
btzudaddy, I agree 100% We do need to stand up and support this man, as we did sheriff Joe. Supporting him may very well encourage other Sheriff’s and legislators to speak up against those working to rob us ofour 2ns Amendment and other rights.

I thought it odd that someone from Milwaukee would say something like that. I thought Milwaukee was a safe, decent city but then I looked up the stats – HOLY GUACAMOLE! – majority black/hispanic. Not a good thing.

Ideal time for “Auxiliary Deputy” status to accompany Concealed Carry Permits. This is not mandatory, opt in/out. Might do a light course in “onsite containment” to minimize confusion while waiting for police. It’s even possible to mobilize other citizens using cell phones via a virtual call center. This would add back-bone preparedness to America, the Constitution, and take the wind out of gun-control’s sales…Semper Fi
