Please stop confusing Rightists with Leftists. Mussolini had foot in each camp, but he comes down as essentially a Rightist because he loved Italy and Italians. In case you haven’t noticed (or refuse to notice for your own alien reasons) Leftists always use power to destroy the existing society they find themselves living in. Is there some rational connection between vegetarianism, unionism, socialism, pro-abortion-choice, free-love, legalizing drugs, NAMBLA, and the ACLU, and atheism? If so, what is it? However, Leftists will agree on every one of these organizations. The common element is that every one of these groups is dedicated to destroying particular pillars of existing American society/culture/religion/family life. You will find Rightists opposed to every one of these groups and to the destruction/degradation of our society. I’m especially sorry to see an Italian putting Mussolini in the same camp as Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and Pol Pot, when he belongs with Franco, Pinochet, and Churchill.
You got it partly right. But leftists are about CONTROL…PERIOD! I have not heard a leftist yet support the legalizing of drugs as you claim. This is the one sole area that right & left agree on. It is the majority of Libertarians that support the legalization of drugs. If not legalization, at minimum, decriminalizing them. I also support decriminalizing drugs – and NOT because I’m some “drug loving” or “drug using” person.
Thomas Jefferson said it best when he spoke that any person living under a government that tells you what you can eat, drink, or what medicines you can take is a person living under tyranny, whether they acknowledge such or not. Just on principle the gov should never over-step its intended role by now telling its citizens what they may or may not ingest, regardless of how harmful the substance or food.
But MY reason for decriminalizing drugs is because it takes away confiscatory powers from the government. When a drug is found in your home that the gov decided was illegal to own, they have all kinds of powers to abuse when enforcing their laws. Imagine a president that is thin skinned, on the dictatorial side, petty, vengeful, spiteful, etc. Imagine a judge being the same, or a police officer. If they decided to search your home, and found a joint, and they have the personalities of the above described and decided to punish you to the allowable maximum sentence, they have the right to confiscate your home, freeze your assets, fine you, send you to prison, GOD knows how far they’d take it.
True story in Pennsylvania. There was a corrupt Judge being paid nicely to sentence as many ppl as possible so the prison could obtain more federal aid. They were discovered when a family defended their son/brother, smelling something fishy. Their son was sentenced for two years for having a joint in his car. A single joint. His car was confiscated. He was slammed with storage fees until the gov sold it at auction. He had additional fines and a two year prison term. This was his FIRST OFFENSE! No priors. Not even a parking ticket. He was a 2nd year college student. Marijuana was NOT found in his system when tested, nor was any other drug. They ruined this kids life over a joint he hadn’t even smoked nor has smoked in his past. RUINED HIS LIFE! The scandal broke back in 2008 or so.
A car was searched at random in another case, unrelated to first scenario. The driver/owner of new vehicle was giving his buddy a lift home. Dogs smelled “drugs” and the drug was a pill, I think a percocet, in the pocket of his buddy. His buddy received all kinds of fines but did no time. However the owner of the vehicle was also fined, had his brand new auto impounded, then sold at auction, and the guy had like 60 months of payments he still had to make on the car!
Do you want a gov with such confiscatory powers? Over a drug? What if your child did well all his life, went on to college, but financially ruined, arrested, imprisoned, had all assets seized, over a single bad choice in the form of the slimmest of all joints?!
So it’s not a matter of “druggies” and “pot heads”. It’s a definite matter of drugs, pot, whatever!…giving every level of gov THAT MUCH POWER.
Here’s another thought that should be looked into.
RICO act. Well, it looks to me like congress in its entirety and every person that works in it, the white house and every single person that works in it and draws federal paychecks, the justice department and every single person that works directly or indirectly and every single department there-in, and every single employee of the federal government of the United States of America regardless of job description is and has been involved criminal activity as an organization and every member of congress, everybody that works in the white house and the justice department, every single worker for the federal government at every level should be arrested and charged under the RICO act as an ongoing criminal organization. Just like the drug dealers and anybody else that has been charged under that act. There Crimes will start with Treason. They have been lying, stealing and cheating the Natural Born Citizens of the United States of America. I can’t see any difference between them and the Mafia, if there ever was such a thing, or Motorcycle “Gangs”, or Gun Smugglers, Drug Smugglers or any RICO defined organization. When convicted ‘All’ their assets and I mean everything they own should be confiscated and put in the general fund to help the needy Natural Born Citizens of the United States of America. Everything they have was derived from their criminal activity while working in the Criminal Organization we know as the Federal Government. That includes all of their kids’ stuff and of course the wives and mistresses property. Seize; confiscate all property of any description. Freeze all bank accounts. Their sentences after a quick trial and conviction will be Life in, General Population, Prison without the possibility of Parole. Creation of construction jobs for a lot of new prisons for these poor folks. Give the sons and daughters the choice of Prison for life or Front Line Combat Positions. Well they get a choice. Then we can go after the middlemen that were involved in defense procurement that were instrumental in ripping off the taxpayers for the last 75 years and we can prosecute the dead criminals posthumously.
