Rush Limbaugh: Katie Couric Destroyed CBS News

Katie Couric SC Rush Limbaugh: Katie Couric destroyed CBS News

As news spreads that Katie Couric will be departing as anchor of the CBS Evening News, radio giant Rush Limbaugh says Couric simply “destroyed” the network when it comes to viewership.

A network executive told the Associated Press last night that Couric is leaving her anchor post less than five years after becoming the first woman to solely helm a network TV evening newscast.

On his nationally broadcast radio show today, Limbaugh, a frequent critic of Couric, said, “I’m sorry, Katie, but you know facts are facts. You guys might own the narrative, but we have the facts here, and ‘CBS Evening News’ ratings are the lowest in history. And don’t think if that ever happened to my ratings, people would report that. I’m sure the stories are already written. …

“The fact is, ladies and gentlemen, that she destroyed it. The network news ratings for CBS just plummeted.”

The AP story by David Bauder included information about high-profile awards Couric’s newscast received, with which Limbaugh took issue.

  1. Couric was a bad choice for CBS, but she hardly killed it by herself–Dan Rather gave it a good push toward the precipice.

  2. Gary in Colo says:

I don't know if she destroyed it. I didn't watch her anyway or much anything on CBS for that matter.
Maybe two nights per week primetime for me.
I tend to leave it on one channel just about all night while I'm back in the computer room and
even the channel I set it on is really only there for background noise. Tends to mask the echos :)

  3. Geral Sills says:

Couric was never a good choice for a Real News spot, and it is the CBS executives who are truly to blame. They hoped to sell false news to a particular demographic, the young women up to their mid 30', and yet that group seldom listens to news, or cares what is happening anywhere in the world. If these executives are truly intelligent people, then I can only assume they are also biased against the United States of America. At least Rush is not afraid to tell them the truth, and it is time for all the media to pay attention to what we the people are demanding.

  4. Tradewinds says:

Does CBS still broadcast the evening news or is it now the evening views?? I haven't watched the CBS Evening News in over fifteen years.. It has become a viewers waste land for liberal morons.. WC tried to slant the news.. DR tried to create news.. KC tried to bias the news.. All three news anchors in the end failed the test of objectivity and creditability.. The fault is with CBS management and its left leaning preference and not with the millions of viewers who simplify just changed the channel.. Will a major network like CBS ever try a "fair and balanced" approach?? I think not..

  5. She was a smug liberal one sided broad. No place for her in the news.

  6. Steve514 says:

Couric and CBS are not alone in the destruction of the media news there are a large number of so called news reporters that have contributed to the destruction of the news media. Their problem is, they report the news as they want you to see it and they try to sensationalize it to build a name for themselves. When in fact if they would stick to the facts and let the viewers draw their own conclusions they would be more creditable. Most viewers want the facts not some organizations propaganda. The media as a whole has became a sales pitch for some special intrest or political group to sell their cause. The reports comming out of the middle east is a prime example, one night they are pro reble the next night their not sure the rebles are any better than who they are trying to get out . Maybe they should just report on what is happening rather than trying to justify why the US and the UN are there in the first place. We all know that they are not there to save the people it is about the oil.

  7. James you are no one to be giving advice with your track record!

  8. PortTabacco says:

I don't believe the fault lies with Katie Couric.

Windbag Rush "the Flush" Limbaugh loves to attack a female because she is a competitor and he is an ass!
The reason I didn't watch CBS NEWS is because I don't have cable and the new digital junk we now
have for a signal doesn't allow me to get CBS.

Can one imagine how many people can't watch TV anymore now that this government "stole" our once
    free air waves?

  9. Mike Kauppi says:

If I were your typical non-thinking Democrat, I suppose that I would have been content to listen to the non-stop Pro-Obama, pro-Democrat drivel, spilling out of Couric's mouth on a nightly basis. But in all fairness to Katy, the crap she put out there on a daily basis was no worse than the continuous bised foolishness that her predecessor, Dan Blather put out, and likewise, the non-news "Obama hugging" claptrap that Diane Sawyer spews on a nightly basis. They're all equally as bad.

  10. ALFRED E. NEUMAN says:

SHE IS NOTHING MORE NOR LESS THAN A "USEFUL IDIOT" FOR THE LEFTWING LIARS!

  11. Larry C. says:

    Hello,
Bye-Bye Katie C. maybe the O-"DUMMY" will hire you for what I do not know. The facts are clear lady. You stunk the place up, and they hung with you to see if you could do any better, but one thnig you proved, and that is the LIBERAL MESSAGE SUCKS AT ANY NETWORK NEWS CHANNEL.

  12. Somebody needs to ask Katie how she "FEELS" about being booted. She's always asking that question when she interviews someone. She never asks what people think, just what they feel. I'm glad she got booted. Now she can go out and become one of " The great unwashed" as she refers to the American people. Hopefully she decide to be a stay at home mom.
