No one told Mitt Romney that he would be the lone Republican taking part in a three-way debate on Tuesday night; but, not altogether unpredictably, that’s the way it turned out.
According to debate moderator and part-time participant Candy Crowley, it was “instinct” that forced her to intercede on Obama’s behalf during the somewhat rancorous discussion of the Benghazi murder of Ambassador Stevens and 3 other Americans. When Romney stated quite correctly that it took the Obama Administration 14 days to call the Benghazi killings a terror attack, Obama protested, and Crowley immediately came to his rescue, saying to Romney “he did, in fact, Sir (call it an act of terror,)” referring to a statement given by the president the day after the killings.
What Obama really said was “No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character, or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.” Although this was indeed part of a statement given the day after the Benghazi attacks, Obama had NOT referenced the Benghazi killings as the “acts of terror” he spoke of. Rather, it was a general statement that could have just as easily referred to the 9/11 attacks the president had brought up at the same time. And it is a fact that no one in the Obama Administration–including Obama himself—spoke of terror in relation to Benghazi for the next 2 weeks, opting instead to call the 4 deaths the result of an “anti-Muhammed movie” discovered on the internet. Certainly, that would have been an odd tack for the Administration to take had the president actually referred to the Benghazi murders as “acts of terror” on the day after they had occurred.
Yet Crowley felt it her duty, or rather a matter of “instinct”, to come to Obama’s defense at this key moment in the debate.
Funny the instinctive moderator didn’t believe it necessary to correct Obama when he claimed that “…oil production has been up and that the oil companies have been granted permits to drill but refuse to do so.” “We have increased oil production to the highest levels in 16 years,” said the president, apparently oblivious to the fact that oil companies have vacated the Gulf of Mexico, costing Americans thousands of jobs.
But Romney quickly corrected Obama, telling the audience that “oil production is down 14 percent this year on federal land, and gas production was down 9 percent. Why? Because the president cut in half the number of licenses and permits for drilling on federal lands, and in federal waters.” Yet, for some reason, Ms. Crowley did NOT admonish the president for his less-than-factual claims! Apparently, she did not have these facts at her fingertips as she obviously did Obama’s Benghazi statement.
Mitt Romney won this debate, defeating Barack Obama and his obliging assistant with both facts and superior delivery. Of course, most of the media immediately declared Obama the victor, but that was to be expected.
So polls are not likely to change a great deal as a result of the town hall, unless a few undecided voters who paid close attention now decide to support Romney, thanks to the smarmy antics of Candy Crowley.

Crowley Admits Romney was “Right” on Libya events, and when Obama finally recognized it as a terrorist attack……….2 weeks later.
Why didn’t Pat do the job she was supposed todo instead of joining Obama?. I believe the moderator shouild be neutrall and not biased toward either party. Pat flunked but Romnney won over both Obama and Fat Pat.
She is from CNN and CNN is in obamas back pocket. Maybe her job was on the line to back the boon.
Romney must quickly publicly vet, expose and condemn Obama. It might be the last chance anyone has to do it. The accumulated open source evidence is massive and clearly shows Obama and his insurgents are the gravest threats to our national security and survival. From Obama’s commie mommie to his jihadi ring the evidence of his treachery is beyond any reasonable doubt. Obama and his gang must be in a maximum security lockup, not in public office. The “debates” are an utterly obscene and insane spectacle. Romney can act like a typical RINO and deny reality hoping to get elected, he can continue on as McCain II and give us the illusion of choice, or he can man up and call out Obama. Hell will freeze over before Romney ever gets tough on Obama. He is behaving much like McCain and the republican establishment did against Obama in 08. I will vote for Romney only because I have no other choice while knowing full well that he is part of the republican establishment and a RINO. What Romney should have done on Libyagate when he had the floor and the mike in his hand is pointed directly at Obama and said “For two solid weeks you and your cabinet officers, the SOS and your U.N. Ambassador, lectured the American people and the United Nations General Assembly that the deadly attack on our Embassy in Benghazi was the result of an obscure YouTube video that had been on the Internet for 4 months. While you used the word terror in your Rose Garden remarks, that was obviously intended to be in the context of a general statement and not in the context of a specific terrorist attack on the Embassy. Only now that the truth has been leaked to the public that the attack was a preplanned terrorist attack no different in principle than 911have you gone silent on the video story.” Shame on you Mr. President for lying to the American people, something you have done repeatedly here this evening which with the aid of your accomplice, the moderator Ms Crowley,” has prevented me from specifically addressing the lies and correcting them for the record.”
But Romney in typical fashion, careful to avoid appearing to hard on Obama demurred and missed a golden opportunity to deliver politically speaking a punch to Obama’s gut. There’s an old axiom that nice guys finish last. Let’s hope that’s not the case on Nov 6. Actually these debates minus any obvious gaffes, irrespective of how many lies are told, really amount to very little. Obama often speaks as if he is running for the first time in these debates and why not since he doesn’t dare tell the truth about his record which is a disaster. His record will largely inform people as to how they should vote not all the hot air lies that he spews out at these debates. His best known trait is his affection for telling lies which has gone on from the very beginning. His entire political career is based on a lie.
I think Romney should have been better prepared knowing how the first debate went.
He seemed more intent on pushing his agenda than hitting Obama where it hurts.
There were many times he could have called the President out on his lies but he didn’t. He went soft on him. He needs to directly address the questions and stop repeating himself on what he would do.
The best point he made is that he has spent a lifetime working in small businesses and balancing budgets but yet he also failed to point out some of those businesses became large ones like Staples. Who can argue with a record like that?
Romney needs to hit harder with more facts on Obama’s failures and why and his lies.
If the ambassador was on the job at the time of his murder, perhaps this was only another case of “workplace violence,” like the Fort Hood “workplace violence” massacre. Just loved how Ms. Crowley chose the question concerning Obamacare from those 82 submissions…..oh, wait a minute…she didn’t?…I guess she just musta ran outta time…no big deal, right Barack?
Since the mid 1960s, when I began voting on a regular basis, I have never witnessed anything as offensive as Crowley’s debate behavior, even that of Biden. The political and social behavior of Crowley, Obuma, and Snortin’ Joe Biden would make Blago puke. I am a committed Romney/Ryan voter as of this moment. Furthermore, with my contacts in both business and church circles, I will bring a minimum of 200 people with me, probably 400 to 500. It is my hope that other Americans, people who do not vote based on race, people who hate the very idea of getting welfare or foodstamps, preferring instead to get out & work, will join with me. Let’s get the anti-American, racist, radical muslim, communist out of office & into prison – where he belongs.
I agree it was a clear Romney victory for anyone paying attention to current events. Ms. Crowley was clearly in the Obama corner and biased. Why Romney didn’t call Obama out over the refusal for security in Benghazi is what I don’t understand. Romney definitely needs to play hard ball with this Obama and stop acting as if the subject is off the table. Obama’s entire Middle East Muslim Brotherhood policy is a dismal failure because he is playing for the other side. He even wears an Islamic ring. He is purposely destroying American influence in that region. His energy policies are obviously in favor of OPEC and thus the 4-dollar a gallon gas at out pumps. Don’t let him make you think a president can’t influence gas prices, canceling the pipeline from Canada is a good example. One thing that is possible is that Mr. Romney is waiting for the third and final debate to play his hand, if so, it is a good strategy. This third debate is on foreign policy and that would be the time to take the gloves off and go bare knuckles. Obama’s failures are so blatant that there really isn’t any way to defend failed policy, anyone paying even the slightest attention to foreign news should know that. It’s almost like we are on our knees begging for the forgivedness of the Shieks of Saudi or some coward crap. I think Michelle has more balls than this guy. Surely, we will see Romney come out of his corner fighting in this third debate, Sissyboy Obama can’t really defend obviously failed policy, everyone it has touched has been killed. The last thing is that we should hope the moderator of this third debate isn’t so firmly in Obama’s corner from the beginning to the end. Mr. Romney needs to bring his metal topped cane with him like Senator Brooks did for Senator Sumner on the floor of the Senate in 1856.
I’ve never seen this fat, self-loathing democrat hack, I’ve never watched any of those democrat networks, but just listening to her whine the day before the debate, about how female moderators are treated worse than their male counter-parts and how sexist the system is told me everything I needed to know about where her head is…and it also proved just how unsuitable these female hags are for such an important assignment.
Why are these democrat slobberers always the ones chosen for these debates?
