Two and a Half Men co-star Angus T. Jones has been in the media spotlight the past few days for his negative comments about the TV program. Though he has apologized for his comments, an analyst points out that he did not recant his proclamation about the show’s crude content.
Jones apologized Tuesday for a series of interviews in which he denounced his own show. Speaking to a Seventh-day Adventist media outlet, the 19-year-old last month called the CBS comedy “filth” and “very inappropriate.” He has cited his religious awakening for his change in attitude toward life and work.
Dan Gainor, vice president of business and culture at the Media Research Center (MRC), speculates whether Jones was pressured to rescind his comments.
“The man just turned 19, has just had a religious awakening. Most of his career on the show he has spent underage, when other people were signing contracts for him,” Gainor notes. “So, now that he’s an adult, he can start making decisions for himself, and he’s clearly not happy about it.”
Jones, who reportedly makes $350,000 an episode, issued a statement Tuesday saying, “I apologize if my remarks reflect me showing indifference to and disrespect of my colleagues and a lack of appreciation of the extraordinary opportunity of which I have been blessed.”
“God really is having a hand in his life, because that show, it’s the core of what we have a problem with in our society, where we celebrate all that is bad; we celebrate sex without consequences,” Gainor laments. “It’s oh, you’re supposed to be cheating; you’re supposed to be fooling around; you’re supposed to be doing everything under the sun. And if you’re not, there’s something wrong with you — That’s the message that Hollywood tells our kids.”

He’s a 19 year old kid. He is trying to speak the truth without offending the offensive elements at CBS. He should be commended for showing respect to those who are probably not respectable. Maybe his words and commitment will condemn a few who haven’t hardened their hearts too much. Pray for the kid, he is still very young.
Speak all you want kid. It’s good for the soul.
But, be aware for every action there can be a reaction. The networks might be, bye-bye buddy, you can sit in your special corner with Charlie. The network already has limited his air time by putting him in the military. It’s nothing for him to be either accidently killed in the line of duty, or in his case probably do something like look down the barrel of his gun to see how fast the bullet can come out. Gone in a shot. Then the network, for the final episode can have two officers knock on the door and announce his ‘departure’. Add a little tears and crying, memories, some stupid Asston Kurtcher idiotitic comments, cut to commercial, final show credits and he’s gone.
Sonny boy making comments like this won’t get him any credits on his acting resume, so he’d better get his begging cup out.
Since this show so disgusts the little prig, why doesnt he donate all his millions of dollars to charities to show he means what he says. That however would upset his sponsering church, who would lose all the money they tithe from him. Probably something like 10-30% of his earnings.
Throw him out, he spoils the show anyway.
As a parent I would not allow any of my children to make a living by going against all that we have taught them. Too often money does compromise our ethics but not worth selling our souls. Those who brush it off as humor also contribute to lowering moral values. If we don’t support the trash they wont stay in business. We all have a part in lowering or raising moral standards.
Hey bud. Just do your best, that is all any of us can do.
You are a young man and I am sure you have a lot going for you.
Keep on keeping on.
