CHICAGO — The prospect of prison looms over former U.S. Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife after they agreed to plead guilty to charges in an alleged scheme to spend $750,000 in campaign funds on personal items — including furs, a gold watch, a football signed by U.S. presidents and even a hat once owned by Michael Jackson.
It wasn’t immediately clear how much time either Jackson could end up doing when the legal drama inevitably reaches its climax before a federal sentencing judge within a few months. But judges frown on brazen breaches of public trust, said one former federal prosecutor, and that may mean the former Chicago congressman will likely to have to serve at least a few years behind bars.
“It shows hubris and arrogance that a politician sees his campaign coffers as his to spend as likes,” said Jeff Cramer, who as an assistant U.S. attorney in Chicago worked on multiple corruption cases. “With these kinds of charges, I cannot imagine him not going to prison … for 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 years.”
He thought Sandi Jackson, at most, would spend several months in prison.
Prosecutors are reluctant to ask judges to send couples with school-age children, like the Jacksons, to prison for long terms at simultaneously — so it’s possible, Cramer said, that the government will seek to stagger their sentences in such a way that the Jacksons aren’t behind bars at the same time.

If it was me or you we and our wifes would be in jail at the same time and our kids would be in foster homes. I am sure they will have it easier in prison than we would.
bobmann101, I suspect that after the less than honorable AG Eric H. Holder Jr; has a conversation with the presiding Judge, Jackson might end up with house arrest. This is the most corrupt Administration in history, and Jackson is one of the Chicago boy’s, so I doubt that he will be expected to serve any serious time.

Bobman, this is just what I believe, also. Why is it that hight profile people seen to need the breaks? This is the prevaling trend today. And we wonder why there is more corruption than ever. 30-40 years ago they would hide their heads if arrested. Now, they walk brazenly in with attornies. Time to put a stop to this corruption. They steal and then we pay AGAIN to keep their behinds “safe” while they are in prison.
There were seeds planted many years ago. The people who planted those seeds and their successors have the patience to succeed.

I guess he thought if Obama could do it, so could he. Anyone who whistled on him could just be labeled racist. They’ll both get off light.
Probably more than not , King Hussein will step up for him and , or , the Governor of Ill. will give him his free pass . I don’t think they will get more than 6 months , as he will claim , ( wink , wink ) , that he was ” sick ” at the time with his ( wink , wink ) Polar problem . And , on top of that , he will only serve his time , ( again , IF he have to go to prison , and I don’t see it happening ) , at a low risk prison . Where he will have to learn to make his own bed , and learn to go without his cell phone . It will be hard on him , I’m sure .
The ONLY difference between Mr. Jackson and the other 534 people in CONgress is…he got caught. If you think this is an isolated case…..think again. The master of all disaster and deception lives in the white house. I’m really confused why he hasn’t gotten caught. Oh yeah now I know why he hasn’t gotten caught yet. It’s the 534 other people in government that prevents him from going down because he knows to much on each of them. They don’t dare challenge him. Jessie Jackson senior should have spent more time with his son instead of going to any and all functions where he could whip up people against each other. The good news is he will have weekend visitation with his son at some Federal prison, and they can bond together.
To be truthful, it comes as no surprise, it is the Chicago way to be in politics and spend some time in the joint, hopefully Obama will one day continue the trend.

Maybe this comment won’t go over to well with many but I feel as though I need to add a comment about a movie I saw last night… The movie, a Christian based drama was about five young Fathers and what it took to be a real man or better yet, a godly Father. The movie was COURAGEOUS from the creators of FIREPROOF.
I had seen a few clips of this movie so I knew it was about some men and how they would learn to become real men or “Courageous Fathers” to their children…. In other words, a real tear jerker for me since I failed to be the Father to my children that God desired me to be. I would give my right arm to have seen this movie forty years ago. I said the exact same words as I was watching the movie FIREPROOF in 2008 which is also a American Christian drama film released by Samuel Goldwyn Films and Affirm Films revealing a troubled marriage and the efforts of a young husband to reconnect with his wife.
What Father or husband hasn’t made mistakes? We should be honest, if not to others at least with ourselves. True some of us have made huge mistakes and maybe there are a very, very few of you whose mistakes were no more than crawling out of bed on the wrong side or telling your wife she needs to do something with “her kids.”
I remember reading about a Father who favored one son above his ten older siblings and this caused great strive between the older brothers and the favored son, Joseph… The Father’s name was Jacob, who God later renamed Israel…
