What, just because this Eloi talking head can’t conceive of individuals being moved by their concerns to acquire the means to defend their lives and the lives of their families, we’re supposed to accept his inability to acknowledge the justified sentiments of decent people?
Would he be similarly gobsmacked by people in other parts of the country buying flood insurance in the wake of the “superstorm” Sandy surges that swamped so many towns on the midatlantic seaboard? How about the numbers of people who amped up their fire precautions after wildfires savaged Colorado recently?
Any time a catastrophic event moves people to think about the possibility that “It could happen here!” it’s predictable that certain response patterns will prove robust. When deadly violence occurs, pointing out the fact that the only really effective response to deadly force is firearms in the hands of law-abiding citizens, large numbers of law-abiding citizens are going to take steps to ensure their ability to provide such countermeasures, if and when it should “happen here.”
Just how far out of touch with reality is this Morgan pucker, anyway?
The British had a saying about the American GI’s during WW2. “Over sexed, over paid and over here”, a fine thanks to the men and women who fought Nazism and without them the Brits would be speaking German.
