A former Marine involuntarily detained for psychiatric evaluation for posting strident anti-government messages on Facebook has received an outpouring of support from people who say authorities are trampling on his First Amendment rights.
Brandon J. Raub, 26, has been in custody since FBI, Secret Service agents and police in Virginia’s Chesterfield County questioned him Thursday evening about what they said were ominous posts talking about a coming revolution. In one message earlier this month according to authorities, Raub wrote: “Sharpen my axe; I’m here to sever heads.”
Police — acting under a state law that allows emergency, temporary psychiatric commitments upon the recommendation of a mental health professional — took Raub to the John Randolph Medical Center in Hopewell. He was not charged with any crime.
A Virginia-based civil liberties group, The Rutherford Institute, dispatched one of its attorneys to the hospital to represent Raub at a hearing Monday. A judge ordered Raub detained for another month, Rutherford executive director John Whitehead said.
“For government officials to not only arrest Brandon Raub for doing nothing more than exercising his First Amendment rights but to actually force him to undergo psychological evaluations and detain him against his will goes against every constitutional principle this country was founded upon,” Whitehead said.

But oh yes the gommit can and will fight its’ citizens. They have MILLIONS upon millions of people ready and willing to assist them. They have have treaties with foreign countries to use their troops, letting them come into this country to help the gommit subdue its’ own citizens. Not only that for every person that thinks they can oppose the gommit, for every person that is ready to stand up for the US Constitution and for conservative ideals, there is at least one other person who will oppose them, just like at the ballot box. The gommit controls the media, the healthcare, the education, the food supply, the money and the arms except those already in the hands of the public. Now you tell me; What in the wide world of sports do have in your favor in opposing such a group of people? NOT that I disagree with you, but rather I know from my family’s history, you can’t fight the US Gommit and ever win. My family and country tried this once, and NOT in trying to attack the US Gommit, but rather just wanting to leave peacefully. Yet we were totally destroyed and conquered. If Brandon Raub’s predicament isn’t bad enough, then maybe you should read this article. It’s another way government has conspired to attack your 2nd Amendment and anyone they deem a threat to the government, ie. patriots, real Christians and especially if you own firearms and have the means to disseminate information. This is another almost unbelievable story…. They’ve committed another patriot to the psycho ward for similar reasons… Looks like this is becoming one of their mainstream tactics..

You’re exactly right concerning direct and indirect threats. I had thought of the same things but never bothered to write it. If I went to file charges against someone whom I claimed threatened me and I told the judge or magistrate of the threats in the same manner than Raub stated his on his FB page, I would be shown the DOOR! Brandon Raub has NOT and I repeat, has NOT made the first direct threat to physically hurt anyone or anything. Everything he said can be taken as a “figure” of speech and this is what also makes it an indirect threat. Of course the stinking g-men know this, but they are on their own witch hunt, supposedly testing out parts of the NDAA orders that Obama had signed into effect earlier this year. They need some court test cases in order to set a precedent so they can start doing this on a routine basis. btw– Don’t forget it was a Republican House and a large part of the Republican Senate that got this bill passed into law!

Unfortunately by the time one takes into consideration the various differences between the conservative groups, many people that appears to be conservative will NOT be willing to fight for what YOU or I think and claim is all our freedoms. Another way of saying this is, the various differences among seemingly similar people is great and diverse enough that this group cannot have the cohesion needed to act in self-defense or in any manner related to any internal strife within the country.
Brandon Raub is just such an example, though not concerning society on any physical level yet. While many people have shown support for him, it is NOWHERE near the numbers needed to show any real cohesion as a group by a broad spectrum of people from all across the country. Not only that, what support he has gotten has been extremely tame by comparison to what was done to him. This just goes to show us that the dog’s bark is worse than his bite, so-to-speak. People are ONLY willing to a small degree to take any steps necessary in correcting this problem. By what has transpired, it is the same as giving the gommit the green light for them to do this over and over again, to as many people as they see fit. It will become standard practice at this rate, or because of the lack of any better response than what has been shown so far. Yet ya’ll are gonna tell me and others what ya’ll are gonna do and that ya’ll have them out numbered! I really wish you were right, but I know you are wrong…. What we see around us every day proves me correct.
As for the jails, not being enough. I’m afraid you’re mistaken again. You mustn’t have heard of all these detention camps that has been set up and is being managed by FEMA and Homeland Security. There was even gommit advertisements wanting guards for them, if you had looked at the gommit websites. Also look up Jesse Ventura and his show, “Conspiracy Theory”. This is just ONE person who has documented proof of the camps. There are many other people who has presented documents also. While you’re at it, look up his show where he shows us the MILLIONS of 3 man coffins the gommit has already prepared for us, er ya’ll!

The head of the Joint Chiefs Dempsey commented that the outcry form former Service Members wasn’t helpful, that they should stay out of the Political Frey. Huh! wonder if Eisenhower or Grant new that? Anyone coming out of the Military Ma, or Woman are better for it. Their life experiences and intelligence level is at a higher plain.
