The Obama administration rolled out the next stop on the road to amnesty yesterday. On Thursday, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) established a new 24/7, toll-free hotline to help illegal aliens in custody and assure they “are made aware of their rights.” It will help illegals get released from the custody of pesky law enforcers who do not believe in stealth amnesty, file civil rights complaints against ICE agents, and skip trial dates.
The official press release states that “detained individuals can call if they believe they may be U.S. citizens or victims of a crime” — interesting distinction, that. However, the taxpayer-funded chatline goes beyond helping those who believe they have been victimized. It also:
- Reminds illegals that a local law enforcement agency (LEA) can only hold them 48 hours (excluding weekends and holidays) before turning them over to ICE and “advises individuals that if ICE does not take them into custody within the 48 hours, they should contact the LEA or entity that is holding them to inquire about their release from state or local custody”;
- Provides information about how an illegal immigrant can file “a civil rights or civil liberties complaint” against ICE agents (which must work wonders for agency morale); and
- Allows ICE to release any illegal until after their conviction — allowing illegal immigrants to skip town and disappear into a new life in the Promised Land.
ICE assures all such complaints will receive “immediate action.”
This hotline will assist the Obama administration “prioritize resources to focus on threats to public safety, repeat immigration law violators, recent border entrants, and immigration fugitives” — and further drive home the amnesty President Barack Obama has granted by end-running Congress and imposing the DREAM Act via administrative fiat.
The administration’s current policy facilitates the escape of anyone without a previous criminal history (aside from often numerous violations of immigration law), eligible for amnesty under the never-passed DREAM Act, or who is a blood relative of the president. This would result in the release of 99.5 percent of all illegals. The administration has already released enough immigration violators to fill the city of Pittsburgh.
The administration has previously enforced its non-enforcement by suing the states of Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina; Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio personally; hauling Arizona before the United Nations, and instructing the Department of Homeland Security to monitor the Twitter or FaceBook accounts of anyone who types the words “illegal immigrant.”
If the Obama administration truly wished to remove those who “have no legal right to remain in the United States,” their hotline would have only one message:
