The many nations helping Haiti recover from the devastating earthquake that struck there have set up their own military compounds and fly their flags at the entrances.
France’s tricolor, Britain’s Union Jack and even Croatia’s coat of arms flap in the breeze.
But the country whose contributions dwarf the rest of the world’s — the United States — has no flag at its main installation near the Port-au-Prince airport.
The lack of the Stars and Stripes does not sit well with some veterans and servicemembers who say the U.S. government should be proud to fly the flag in Haiti, given the amount of money and manpower the U.S. is donating to help the country recover from the Jan. 12 quake.
The Obama administration says flying the flag could give Haiti the wrong idea.
“We are not here as an occupation force, but as an international partner committed to supporting the government of Haiti on the road to recovery,” the U.S. government’s Haiti Joint Information Center said in response to a query about the flag.
The absence of the American flag bothers Navy veteran Arthur Herriford, national president of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association.
“It’s very improper,” Herriford said. “Our military people always engage and function under the American colors — always have and always will.”

This is a crock of s**$, we should fly the flag, not as an occupation force but to show our pride in helping out our neighbors. Aslo if can show our flag and cubas flag maybe pictorially it will give someone the idea that we are not bad guys. we do not need to occupy a country to fly our flag.
Well it is another statement by the devil incarnate/manchurian candidate obie wan obama that he is not the person this country should have as their President. It appears that he denigrates the United States of America every chance he gets. Remember he stated in his books that if the muslims falter he will stand with the muslims. I am beginning to believe his philosophy for our country is the direct opposite of what Ronald Reagen's was. Reagen stated re: the cold war with Russia "WE WIN THEY LOSE." With the world situation that we find ourselves in today Obama's philosophy seems to be "We LOSE THEY WIN."
That's what you'd expect from a President who won't wear a flag pin, won't salute the flag, uses his left hand on his left side when the Pledge to the flag is given, My husband was a bomber pilot, WWII, and a POW. My son a Vietnam combat soldier. This President has never militarily served his country – just belittles it to the rest of the world.
Another nonsensical act that embodies this administration, and indicates the complete lack of national pride, and knowledge of our heritage,. It's consistent with closing Gitmo; Miranda Rights to "enemy combatants"; eliminating the phrase "War on terrorism"…or replacing "acts of terrorism'..with
"man made disasters"; new Rules of Engagement favoring the enemy; apologizing for our history;
initially BO not wearing our flag pin; civilian trial in NY for the proven terrorists….and all the other obvious indicators of being compliant for our nations history with a condescending attitude to the world . A sign of weakness to our enemies, and other aggressor nations!.

Now you know why so many people are copying the policy of the US Navy and flying the flag that states "Don't Tread On Me." It is on my flagpole daily and proudly. God bless America.
The reason Obama will not fly the American Flag is because he isn't an American at heart. Obama hates everything America stands for and his only goal in life is to destroy the United States of America in any way he possibly can. Let's face it, the man is a COMMUNIST!
I am sick and tired of the illegal SOB that is acting president at this time. He is NEVER too proud to disperse OUR MONEY all around the world to ANYONE in the world at the DROP OF A HAT, but he is TOO PROUD to fly our FLAG THERE???? Doesn't want to give THEM the wrong idea????? WHAT ABOUT US??? WE GET THE WRONG IDEA HERE – WHAT ABOUT THAT? US money for ANYONE but AMERICANS. It's about time we sent Mr.Barry Soetoro back to Jakarta Idonrsa where he was born, that is after he has served his prison time for lieing about his place of birth. The illegal Obama can not an american from putting up an american flag. If the government of won't allow it, we then pull out everthing as soon as possiable. While I'm here don't redue the health Care bill, stop it al togather and burn it. 80% of americans have health care, anyone who does not, and is in need has always been able to get it and not pay for it, that is why several hospitals folded here in the San Diego area.
It's time we all learned to be responsiable for our health, by what, and how we eat, play and work.
If Obama wants to destroy this country, who shell come to our aide when we fall? I fear no one!

Flying the flag in Haiti in no way represents an occupying force. It clearly shows where US help is and that we are there. Just another slap in the face to America, especially our troops, from a president who clearly dislikes and does not understand the foundations of our country. He continues to show that he is not really an American citizen. He has no business representing our country.
This proves what many of us have long thought, Obama is not a US Citizen, is trying to bring the USA down, and will stop at nothing to tear this country apart.
