This weekend, President Obama once again omitted the Declaration of Independence’s reference to the “Creator,” this time while celebrating an international sanction of the homosexual and transgender lifestyle. Ironically, in doing so, he proved the truth of the Bible.
Last Friday, the UN Human Rights Council passed a resolution authored by South Africa affirming the rights of homosexuals, bisexuals, and transgender people by the narrow margin of 23-19. Later that day, Obama issued a statement declaring the vote “marks a significant milestone in the long struggle for equality, and the beginning of a universal recognition that LGBT persons are endowed with the same inalienable rights — and entitled to the same protections — as all human beings.”
Of course, the Declaration of Independence states “that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”
This makes at least the fifth time Obama has struck the Founders’ reference to Almighty God from the Declaration.
The statement further underscores the president’s unflagging dedication to implement the LGBT community’s agenda — especially the normalization of transgender people — through United Nations edicts and executive fiat. He appointed “Amanda” Simpson, a former test pilot who is believed to be the first transgender presidential appointee. He held the first-ever White House transgender conference in late April. This author exposed a new rule placed in the Federal Register in January by the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), which would literally redefine the term “family” to include gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender couples. His “Safe Schools” policies, the Labor Department’s new regulations against “harassment” of transgender people, and the military’s re-education of Christian servicemen have significantly rewarded this overwhelmingly Democratic constituency. On Monday, White House spokesman Jay Carney again hinted Obama’s views on homosexual marriage were “evolving.”
The omission shows the continuing close alliance between President Obama and NBC, which cut the words “under God” from the Pledge of Allegiance during its coverage of the U.S. Open the following day.
Jesting aside, striking the Founders’ belief that our rights were God-given is more than a “distraction” or a meaningless aside. Obama’s perpetual mental block against the Divine is deeply revelatory. Rights are only unalienable when they are endowed by our Creator. If The State giveth, The State can taketh away. This is reflected in Obama’s closest adviser’s hostility toward freedom of speech, the right to keep and bear arms, and freedom of conscience.
Perhaps there is a simpler explanation. Obama may have left the term “Creator” out of a proclamation celebrating the LGBT community because he knows subconsciously that God did not create anyone transgender. The desire to change such a defining characteristic of one’s identity as one’s sex is a conscious rejection of the creation.
Although Obama attempted to strip away another aspect of America’s Christian heritage from the public square — part of his ongoing redistribution of respect — Christians owe him a debt of thanks. Obama’s declaration fused the denial of God with the homosexual lifestyle. Rarely has any politician, especially one of presidential stature, so perfectly proven the truth of the Holy Bible:
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened…Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves…For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient…Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them. (Romans 1:, 21, 24, 26-28, 32).
As a presidential candidate in 2008, Obama once mocked this Scripture, saying his support for same-sex civil unions was somehow rooted in Jesus’ words. “If people find that controversial,” he said, “then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans.”
Obama may find these verses “obscure,” but his poor example provides a vibrant new illustration of their abiding truth.
