I think at the moment we have some very serious concerns in this country without wasting time & energy trying to dismantle the 2nd amendment. No one ( in congress) has addressed security, if any, at public schools or public theaters! Schools are probably more secure than a theater which has no security at all.
Neither have they suggested consideration of the documented manic effects of doctor prescribed anti stress and anti psychotic drugs involved in all past mass murders and many serial killings. It’s only a multi billion dollar business with documented violent results among veterans diagnosed with PTSD.. Prhaps they have sudenly become aware of a memory of their cemetery plots.
Schools, theaters and most shopping malls are “target rich” environments for the demented and social misfits. They know that by not allowing guns in their buildings or grounds, they have no worry of someone shooting back at them. Most demented and social misfits are not stupid. Crazy perhaps, but not stupid.
How many “security officers” do you see in malls who have only a radio? Some have a sworn law enforcement officer either on call or in the mall. BUT, usually only one and those malls can be pretty big. If my wife and I go into a mall to spend some time shopping, lunch, etc, and I see the security officers without a gun, we leave.
Here in the Tucson area we have 3 fairly large malls. I am fortunate in that being a retired LEO, I am allowed to carry a concealed weapon into these malls. Yes I have spoken with the mall management and they approve. I am all for schools having armed security inside the school during class times. If our school board feels they cannot afford it, I’ll volunteer my time. I am sure there are many school districts that have parents, retired LEO’s and veterans that would gladly volunteer some time for this worthy cause.
