The Obama administration said Tuesday it would provide more information to Congress about the Fort Hood shootings but continued to defy a subpoena request for witness statements and other documents.
After days of negotiations, the Pentagon and Justice Department informed a Senate committee that they would not comply with congressional subpoenas to share investigative records from the Nov. 5 shootings at Fort Hood, Tex., which killed 13 people. The agencies said that divulging the material could jeopardize their prosecution of Army Maj. Nidal M. Hasan, the accused gunman.
The Pentagon did budge in other areas, however, saying it had agreed to give the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs access to Hasan’s personnel file, as well as part of an Army report that scrutinized why superiors failed to intervene in Hasan’s career as an Army psychiatrist, despite signs of his religious radicalization and shortcomings as a soldier.
Leslie Phillips, a spokeswoman for the Senate committee, called the refusal by the Pentagon and the Justice Department to hand over all the requested material “an affront to Congress’s constitutional obligation to conduct independent oversight of the executive branch.”

Disgrace why WH protects the enemy above God fearing Americans. Where are our leaders?????
Obama, you area traitor to America and Americans
He's not a traitor. Why would you ever think his loyalties were ever with America? You have to betray something you believe in to be a traitor. Why would a Muslim born in Kenya believe in a Christian nation like the U.S.A.? Do you know that in the Quoran, Muslims are advised to use deceit and lie to unbelievers in order to destroy and kill them, unless they are willing to convert to Islam. Obtain an Eglish Quoran and find out for yourself, its, so to speak, the GOD's honest truth.
What in the world is Washington doing in the court martial of this major? that is the responsibility of the court officer in Fort Hood to decide what charges and where it will be conducted, no one in washington has any business in this court martial, and the findings of this court should be,what ever the court finds with our influence from Washington, this so called major took an oath just like me and millions of others had to when we first signed in.
So I say go ahead with that court martial, there are guide lines this court has to follow, they do a good job of doing just that, with out having someone from Washington stick their uncalled for help I can see where this is going under this administration
The Senate wants to find out the reasoning behind the crime to put the blame on the reason for it so in the future we may use the information to stop the reason for the crime, not just the instrument(Major Nidal M. Hasan) of the crime. Sort of an attempt for crime prevention of this type of crime. In other words, the Senate wants the American people to know without a doubt that this was a crime of 'Radical Islam', which Obama is against the American people from believing. He wants us to believe all Muslims are good kindly people that just want to co-exist with us no matter that their religion calls them to strive for world domination through shia law in the most bloodiest and horrific methods if the unbelievers cannot be converted rationally. Thats what this controversy is all about in a 'Nut (Obama) Shell'.
Obama is a muslum – need I say more. He will protect them all.
Nothing like an honest and open administration as Obama promised during his campaign. Has he kept any of his promises from his campaign? Does this mean that the Representative that called Obama a liar during his speech to Gongress about his 'Health Care Bill' , and was chastised for it, was actually telling us the truth. Another American hero that told us the truth but we didn't want to believe him. Guess we really deserve what we're getting, don't you think?
Why are you censoring my comments? I said nothing improper or used any profanity, but gave an honest opinion that is also shared by many others. What gives at this blog site?
“…an affront to Congress’s constitutional obligation to conduct independent oversight of the executive branch.” Obama and Holder must be laughing their heads off at this pathetic and impotent statement. They have erected a firewall which the Congress will not penetrate. Problem is, most of the legislators haven't quite realized this yet – but they will. They need to learn, very quickly, that they are dealing with an administration that will not yield to any precedents and has no respect for the Constitution. Hopefully they will waken before it's too late, before the despotism is upon us.
