NYT layoffs begin


With 74 Times staffers taking the recent buyout offer, management has been left with the tough decision of cutting 26 people from the newsroom.

The axe has begun to fall on some NYT employees

That process began yesterday, as New York magazine reported that eight staffers were getting the ax. (Gawker hears a few more names).

But still, there haven’t been any layoffs yet in the D.C. bureau. As I reported over the past couple of weeks, the bureau has slimmed down and isn’t expected to get hit hard when it comes to layoffs.
