Christmas has really been turned into a dirty word.
Speaking on the local D.C. program “Inside Washington,“ NPR reporter Nina Totenberg openly apologized for using the phrase ”Christmas party” while telling a story.
While discussion the omnibus spending bill that was rejected, she recalled a conversation with government defense officials regarding their budgets, a conversation that took place at a recent Christmas party. However, before she used the party’s adjective, she asked for forgiveness for invoking the “holiday” term. Transcript and video via NewsBusters:
Well, these agencies, including the Defense Department, don‘t know how much money they’ve got and for what. And I was at – forgive the expression – a Christmas party at the Department of Justice and people actually were really worried about this.

I hope the poor PC (poisoned climate) zombie has a merry Christmas in spite of herself. I have known as long as I can remember that the Christmas holiday has pagan roots, the celebration of the winter solstice, and Christ wasn't born in the wintertime. (There are other schools of thought.) Easter is even named after Eostre (a.k.a. Eastre), the great mother goddess of the Saxon people in Northern Europe in celebration of the spring equinox. As the orthodox church converted heathens, they were want to "sprinkle holy water" on pagan holidays and rename them. There was a period of time where I did not celebrate Christmas for just these reasons. However, something happened. Christmas in particular became a target of the unbelieving athiest world (following communists), and I realized that the world associates Christmas with Christians and Christ. So, as with Paul's admonition concerning food offered to idols, I decided to celebrate Christmas in faith because, if the world (which lies in the evil one) hates it so much, Satan must hate it as well. If Satan hates it, I'll choose to oppose him and turn it for good (the Gospel). If celebrating Christmas puts a burr under his (Satan's) saddle, I'll help. Merry Christmas!
