Republican North Carolina state legislators have proposed allowing an official state religion in a measure that would declare the state exempt from the Constitution and court rulings.
First of all, allowed to state up front, that I am an ATHEIST, and as such, I do not have a religious affiliation, nor do I fear those who do. As long as you respect me for the person I am, I will do the same for you. Now on the issue of North Carolina acting in violation of the Constitution by choosing a State sanctioned religion, is absolutely and totally false. Anyone who says that such an act would violate the Constitution, obviously has not read the Constitution, or is incapable of comprehending what it says. These are the same type of people who don’t understand the concept of “shall not be Infringed” as stated in the 2nd Amendment. The 1st Amendment specifically states, “Congress shall make no law respecting as establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;” and for some reason most people don’t seem to understand this. It specifically prohibits “CONGRESS”, it does not prohibit individual States, Counties, Municipalities, Schools, or anyone else from establishing a Religion. This was done to prevent Congress from establishing one Religion as superior to all other Religions, and thereby restricting the Freedom of all Americans to worship, or not worship, however they choose. For far too long this Amendment has been misinterpreted, and used to stilfle, Religious practices. As I said at the begining of this statement, I am an Atheist, and what you believe, or do not believe, have no effect on my beliefs, yours are yours, and mine are mine. As long as you respect my right to choose not to believe, I shall respect your right to choose as you believe. Your religious symbals, pictures, and such have no effect on me, but those who seem to fear them, and claim forced Religion, are liars. If they did not believe in your religious practices, then those symbols and religious ornaments and practices would have no effect on them, they fear being converted, or having to admit, they believe in what they claim they don’t believe.
YOU SHOULD BE IN CONGRESS !!! SOMEONE WHO KNOWS THE LAW !!!
IN CONGRESS NO, IN THE WHITE HOUSE, YES !!!! YOU BELONG IN OUR WHITE HOUSE MORE THAN WHAT IS IN THERE !!!!
Thank you, and for your information, I am a candidate for the office of President, have been since 1994. I wrote a “Balanced Budget Amendment” and created a 10% flat tax plan, but you don’t hear about these things from the media, because they only want to cover those candidates “THEY” think have a chance of winning. They are not interested in covering candidates who actually have ideas for fixing the country, and acting in accordance with the Constitution, and the Bill of Rights. “THEY’ have to have a candidate that fits their narrow perspective of what a candidate should be. I have already filed my Statement of Candidacy with the FEC, though I really don’t know why, except for the fact that it is required by law. However, if the FEC actually did its job, then Barak Obama would never have been permitted to run, let alone occupy the White House.
I agree with your statement, I was raised Lutheran, but then my parents involved us in a cult “like Jim Jones”, due to this I left home at the age of 16 and learned to hate religion, I hated all religions. Through my life I have learned of the ones that abuse religion just as politicians abuse their positions, but I have slowly found a relationship with “What I call God” and as of now I am sticking up for religious people as you are (because right now they are right), but don’t get me wrong. Many others like myself were abused by religion and we are always watching out for those 80S freaks to come out of the wood work again and make us burn our records, not watch T.V. and never associate with others outside the church unless you are soul saving (LMAO). We would fight fiercely against them, they are COMMUNIST using Gods name. I think for right now religion had/has learned its lesson with “still” exceptions (always). But they are like the communist, the more power they gain, the more they will try to steal with lies “For an even greater and better effect” of control, every time they are knocked down, no matter who it is, if they can get back up and get going they will push it again until they are knocked right back down, until no one can knock them down any longer, then everyone but the few has a problem. It’s a fine line we walk, but I’ve never had problems with moderate religions that do not impose, these, I think are “God like”. God gave us free will and so should they.
@Natsovparty I give you credit where credit it due, i.e. someone who understands the Constitution and what it clearly says that doesn’t someone in a blackrobe to interpret it for us just as we don’t need someone in a white robe to interpret the Bible for us. The First and Tenth Amendments clearly leave it to the states to establish a state religion if they so desire with no federal interference. In fact this is nothing new. It was done in early America in several instances without federal objection or injunction. That’s what Jefferson was saying to the Baptists of Connecticut in 1801 when he uttered his now infamous statement concerning a wall of separation between the federal government and the church be it in Connecticut or wherever. The Constitution has been turned on its head with all this federal interference in state, county and municipal religious practices. Judge Roy Moore’s expulsion from the State Supreme Court of Alabama some years ago (to which he has now been returned by the electoral process in that state) is another example of that interference which was totally unlawful for jurisdictional reasons.
In this post constitutional republic in which we now live in America, it has become so commonplace to use the federal court system to object and rule as unconstitutional any religious practice (read Christian) at any level of government regardless of how low down in the chain it may be that people have been indoctrinated into believing and accepting it as the law of the land in accordance with the Constitution. The Constitution has thus been turned on it head and effectively rewritten by legal precedent with respect to the First Amendment to say that not only shall Congress make no law respecting the establishment of a religion but than no one, no government related entity, shall be allowed to engage in a religious (read Christian) practice such as opening a city’s council meeting with prayer or displaying some iconic faith based symbol without bowing to the demands of the ACLU et. al. to immediately dispense with such practices.
Accordingly, America has become a post-Christian nation whitewashed of anything remotely connected to government and the Christian faith. Even if we dare to object to dispensing abortifacents or legalizing same sex marriage on the basis of our faith, we are mocked and ridiculed as “Bible Thumpers” and thus muzzled / censored for our belief. Such repeated unlawful behavior rather than interpreting the Constitution as it was originally written has been amended without going through the amendment process and obtaining the consent of the governed creating an entangled mess. The Establishment Clause of the First Amendment with its judicial precedent amendment pertaining specifically to the fanciful notion of the Separation of Church and State was and is “bad law and should be expressly abandoned.”
That is the way the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, so that the individual citizen who would be required to live under it, could read and understand it. Not the legal jibberish, that lawyers use to tell you why you are wrong about what the Constitution means.
For what it’s worth to you brother, God bless you. (Or sister as the case may be.)
I applaud you. And I sincerely appreciate your position. And you are right in regards to those who protest to the extreme. And in truth, it’s not that they don’t believe really. They believe opposite. I know there is a type of satanism that does not even believe in satan himself. Rather he is a “mascot of rebellion” if you will. But there is a Luciferian sect (the one that will never let your run) that actually worships at the feet of the fallen one. Who not only believes in him but serves him as we serve Yahweh. And their goal is to see our ranks decimated. And the state of our country as well (they are globalists and only until the Union falls can they swoop in like buzzards and pick the bones of the fallen and set up their “new world order”.
After debating with the antithesis of you my brother in recent year “behind enemy lines” if you would, I realized something. That the majority on those forums are not atheists at all. They are posers. They are the Luciferians who has decided to “reason” God away. But not “away” from the hearts of the believers, they dedicate themselves to the pulling away of God from the local, state and national leadership. Like you say, they aren’t hurt by looking at religious symbols on a lawn or anything else. They are simply trying to exploit a weakness. That of political correctness and fear.
Dang brother. Again I say God bless you. I appreciate the heck out of you and you are truly an asset to this nation.
I will say this….and I hope you don’t take offense to it… but I so hope and pray that God would fully and truly reveal Himself to you at some point. In a way that erases all doubt and unbelief. God knows I wouldn’t try to change you. That’s where many Christians misunderstand their commission. We are not sent to convince. The convincing is God’s job. And I believe in His time, He will make Himself known to you. I hope and pray He will anyway. If your love and vision for our nation spills over into your personal character, I am proud to know you. You are a decent and honorable man. I wish there were more like you my friend. I hope you don’t mind me calling you friend. Anybody who takes your position is someone I can put confidence in and someone that I would be proud to associate with.
May you be the recipient of many great signs and wonders. That through them He might reveal Himself unto you and that you may be reconciled in your heart and in your mind to the Truth of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ and that you may be reconciled through Him back to the Father. This would be my earnest prayer for you my friend. In all honor and friendship and brotherhood is it extended in your hearing to the Father.
God love you brother.
I TOTALLY agree with you and the positive comments!!
Now if we can ever agree that English should be official language
Well thought out, well written, but totally ignores the 14th Amendment.
NatSovParty, I am a christian as well as a very conservative person. I enjoyed your remarks as a breathe of fresh air. This great melting pot we call America was founded the way said, People twist, bend and manipulate the Constitution to suit them thus the true meaning is lost. Just a great common sense post. Thank You
I’m an atheist living in North Carolina and I agree with you. My grandparents were devout Christians.
How can a state declare a religion?? Everybody is always screaming separation of church and state and you can’t even mention the one and only God or Jesus so how can this happen? I am totally confused,
I personally could not care less about anyone’s religion or lack of any faith is, If they want to go to hell then good luck to them.
This whole government is just so evil and idiotic I wish they would all move to a communist country and live miserably ever after! LEAVE US ALONE and quit trying to brainwash the few sane people left in this country. They’ve already made us a 3rd world country isn’t that enough damage?
I just wish ovomit would take all of his gay atheist and black mafia along with all of the other ragtag illegal idiots and move to China or some other hideous country that he is trying to turn us in to. OH MY GOD HOW I DESPISE ALL OF THEM!!! I have just had it with all of this stupid insanity!
I dont care what any of them do just LEAVE US ALONE!!!!
Simple, they declare that the State religion will be Baptist, Lutheran, Catholic, Episcopalian, Buddhist, or what ever they choose, that does not mean that every person living in the State must worship or believe in accordance with that religion, but that that religion is the standard by which the State will act and conduct business. The Constitution only restricts Congress from establishing a National Religion. Like at the time this country was formed, England was a Christian nation, not Catholic like most of the rest of Europe, ergo, the King James version of the Bible. Though subtle, the King James version is somewhat different then the normal Christian Bible.
Hi JoAnn, I know your frustration dear. But out of the comments I’ve read from NatSov, I’m assuming “he”, forgive me if I err Nat, is one of the white hats.
I would counsel you against despising though. Remember Christ’s words…”Be angry, and sin not.” I believe when we “hate”, which is another word for “despise”; we put ourselves in bondage. Keep in mind, we don’t put the other person in bondage. They could care less what you demand, think or say. It doesn’t affect their power base. And while I know it feels good to blow off some steam sometimes and rant, we’ve got to really watch what we let escape out of our mouths or our keyboards. We are representatives of Christ. And when His own people had stakes driven into his hands and feet after having him beaten to a pulp, after all that, He didn’t despise. He petitioned God on THEIR behalf. “Father, forgive them. For they don’t realize what they are doing.” He besought His Father to not hold their actions against them. That is a good example to live by.
Those people whom you despise, though feeling rightfully so; they’ve all got stories. They’ve all got demons to deal with. We all have them. But some choose to revel in them rather than despise them. I can tell you that Obama is there by divine appointment. He is there to fulfill scripture. He is here to bring judgment on a nation who allowed the “UN-NatSovs” of the country take over and not only turn us away from God as a collective people, understanding of course the right to not believe like in the case of Nat Sov, but to actually turn actively AGAINST God. We aren’t getting out of this one unless we are caught up. This country does not have another 4 years in her. Sadly. Implosion is immanent. We are on the brink of World War 3. And that is not doom saying. All one has to do is their homework and observe.
Pray that in spite of your anger toward the current situation we have found our beloved nation in, that God would bring every part of you back into the center of His will. That you might bare witness to the God of Peace that dwells in your heart.
Remember Luke 21….. 25″And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; 26Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. 28And when these things begin to come to pass, then look up, and lift up your heads; for your redemption draweth nigh.”
God bless you sister. Grieve not over the things that must shortly come to pass. For they all must come to fulfill. And in the fulfilling of the prophecies written, I believe many will be saved. Go ahead and work while it’s day. The sun is soon setting. Behold it is already almost even with the horizon. Make sure you find yourself in the center of His will when He returns. Be at peace. God bless.
Hi Singingcowboy674………I so liked your comments that I even wrote them down as a reminder.
As a Christian I would like to pen pal. Contact me at email@example.com
It is about time they took a stand against the liberals who want to take away our freedom of religion. I just love those who try to say that there is the separation of church & state & state in the U.S. constitution. No where does that exist. You have to go to the Russian constitution to find it.
