MSNBC has suspended anchor David Shuster for working on his Plan B, which included a gig at rival CNN.
Shuster was suspended just days after the New York Observer reported that he was on a pilot show CNN taped recently.
“David has been suspended indefinitely,” a network spokesman said Tuesday morning.
Shuster’s contract with the network reportedly expires in December.
While word of the CNN pilot surfaced weeks ago, it wasn’t until last Friday that the Observer reported the network’s in-house team shot a pilot for a news show featuring Shuster and NPR’s Michel Martin.
MSNBC and CNN, of course, are in a ratings dogfight, with Fox News well ahead of both, so doing a pilot for one while working for the other is a major problem.
