A weekly publication in New York, The Journal News, has come under fire for publishing the names and addresses of pistol permit holders in two New York counties. On Thursday, the publication got some help from a couple of MSNBC hosts who defended the paper’s actions.

Don’t nobody need to know my personal business.
According to their thinking, I need to know what medications they are so I know if they are crazy or not, or if they pose a danger to me or society. I also need to know their health conditions as it may affect me or society. I also need to know if they drink alcohol for the same reasons.
As for their arguments concerning the 2nd Amendment. In response to their claims that I or we don’t need semi-auto firearms or “Assault” firearms, whatever that is, I’ll say this. It’s none of their business what I need or don’t need BECAUSE it is my personal business. they need to MYOB and I’ll do the same. If they can’t I ask; Why do you need a car that can go over the speed limit, or a race car, or a 500k dollar car? Why do you need alcohol? Why do you need to that expensive home? Why go on vacations around the world? Why do you need anything? How can you justify anything you have? And why are you supposed to justify it to everyone else as you want me to justify owning a certain type firearm? Folks this gets ridicules according to their thinking…

I don’t know what she is. She claims to be against Obama, yet she has no Libertarian or Constitutionalist values. She was a big Romney supporter and didn’t like it when I trashed Romney along with Obama. She’s like a leech following me through this site, trying to vilify me whenever she gets a chance. Same ole thing from her every time. She does seem to take it in spells though, being worse at times. I’ve threatened to turn her in a couple of times, but I normally think it best to let her make herself out to be what she really is. People catch on after a little reading. You caught on pretty fast… and so do others. It just goes to show us how two faced people can be. I thank you for coming to my defense as well as the others. This has been going on now for a couple of months or longer. Well before the election. She didn’t fancy me not supporting Romney even though I posted many excerpts and records of him being not much different than Obama. Remember RomneyCare is the father of ObamaCare, just for starters.
A week or so ago she was following me around, belittling me as usual. I made a couple of comments, not overly derogatory, not as bad as what’s already been posted here to her. She made a comment about reporting me. I said I would report her. She writes back she’s already reported me. Gee, all I wanted was her to quit following and attacking me. Yet I’ve already noticed tonight she’s still attacking me. So, it’s like I said, she’s only doing herself in, proving what she really is. It just really doesn’t pay for me to comment to her as I’m not sure much of anything registers with her except what she wants to believe. There’s just no truth of reality in people like that. Maybe I/we did hit a sore spot and she’s the one with a mental condition having to take meds over it and she feels threatened or insulted because of what I wrote and ya’ll agreeing with it, so she becomes defensive. To me that makes the most sense, but I don’t know for sure, nor do I really care. It’s just an observation from her reactions.
To me, hopefully everyone can see this person for what she really is, though I am sure there will always be someone to agree with her. I hope that all of you can learn to better judge the people you interact and become WISE to the subtle ways other people can manipulate all of us unknowingly. It’s not just her but many many people who pass themselves off as conservatives every day. FOX News is one such media, and there was an article on this very thing here a few days ago. (I posted a lot on it too!) They simply are strawmen and pseudo conservatives helping direct public opinion anywhere but where it really needs to go! i just hope all of you can learn as I have to spot such people and organizations/businesses so you won’t be swayed and manipulated by fraudulent people for their gain. If ya’ll can learn this from my example of what I have been through, then it was worth every slur I received, IF it benefited ya’ll.
One thing to also consider, the feds have people at ALL true conservative sites participating in discussions and pretending to be just another conservative, or actually defending certain government practices. The ADL also openly admits it has its’ own people at many such places also. So you can never tell you might meet here and what their real objectives are.
It is for sure, things are only gonna get worse. And as they get worse it will force the feds to do more drastic things here and elsewhere concerning such blogs and conservative venues of freedom of speech, not to mention everything else they will try and more harshly control. I can definitely see the time fast approaching that we will not be allowed to write such things as what we do here at TWCJ. The more vocal Marxist politicians are already talking about doing this thing and openly. They have already posted about it here in articles! You need food and water, and then firearms. BUT don’t forget you also need decent communications for when the grid goes down, as it will surly be done by the government.

I agree with MIchael3600000 – no one needs to know our personal business unless we become a threat to society. All you do by posting the names and addresses of lawful gun owners is alert criminals what houses to avoid if they don’t want to be shot, or worse, what houses to attack if they want to steal a weapon which they will probably use in future crimes against others. Legally owned guns are not the problem, mental health was the problem with Mr. Lanza. I would more appreciate knowing who is prescribed anti-psychotic drugs in the neighborhood but that is also a privacy issue. So how about we just report the criminals and leave the right to bear arms available for the law-abiding citizens? As you may have heard in Dallas, the same week as the Newtown shootings, a deranged person shot people in a restaurant, then ran next door to a cinema where he continued shooting until an off-duty officer who was packing a gun ended the shooter’s carnage by putting a bullet in him – that is an effective use of a weapon in the hands of a law-abiding citizens. Criminals should be stopped using the necessary means. Pepper spray would not have stopped the shooter as effectively and we would be reading about the double digit number of deaths. Maybe we should be screaming that everyone should be forced to own a gun and end the violence of the deranged ~ then there would be a list of people with certain mental problems who would be forbidden to own guns… and that is already in place so just enforce the laws already on the books and quit taking away our rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I am happy to protect my family..

The only reason I don’t want everyone to know I have weapons in my home is because these folks with weaker minds and character will be using that information to find where they need to head when the rubber meets the road and they are under attack. Of course after protecting my family I will do my best for them but not at the expense of my families safety. I really want the bad guys to know that i am loaded and ready for them. I agree with you as i stated, not all mentally ill people are violent, which Michael and NOBAMA seem to believe. You cannot publish the names of mentally ill people because t hey are protected by the confidentiality factor. I do believe the mental health programs need to be overhauled and more safeguards need to be put in place to keep violent and dangerous mentally ill people in check. But, too many people do not understand mental illness and stereotype mentally ill people and think that anyone who is mentally ill is crazy or dangerous and that is not always so. There are different forms of mental illness and there are those who do kill their family members and then go out and kill others – that has happened in many cases.
Anyway, I do believe you have the right to protect your family – I have never been against guns as long as people are taught how to use them. I am not a loiberal nor am I mentally deranged as accused of being. I am a free-thinking rational person who believes in the laws of our land. I don’tknow abuo0t your state but in my state you have to be evaluated mentally and wait a certain length of time before you can get a permit and you have to learn how to handle a firearm. We do still have murders here, but hopefully that has curtailed it some. Not once did I intimate I did not believe in people owning firearms.

Mentally ill people names are not reported in newspapers because their privacy is protected. However, Why should a one group of people (in this example – mentally ill) have the right to privacy and not another group have an equal protection of privacy? Michael is stating that if they are going to invade the privacy of gun owners then it should be equally proper to invade the privacy of the mentally ill.

Just a review in recent gun massacre’s, Lanza had a mental illness, Holmes – Aurora, Colorado had a mental illness, Congresswoman Gabby Gifford and the others shot at that location were shot by a individual that had mental illness and I believe the Oklahoma City bomber was determined to have a mental illness just to name a few.

By my observation of the way you are so vehemently trying to defend the point that people with mental illness have rights to privacy which should not be infringed. I am compelled to assume that either you or someone close to you is, has or was diagnosed either currently or in the past with a mental illness and that would explain why you are so passionate to defend the privacy of the mentally ill. What ever that be is what it is regardless.
The point here to make to you and as to the suggestions that these twits in the video insinuate that people have a “right” to know what a person legally owns because they base this on the claim that gun owners pose a threat to the public safety and the public has a right to know who is armed and who is not. Just because a gun can or is purchased doesn’t mean it is going to commit a crime or in anyway pose a threat to the public. That gun could be bought and placed the top shelf of someones closet or in the back wall of someones closet for 20 yrs and never leave the confines of that closet therefore never posing a threat to the public.
However, Mentally ill people pose a much greater threat to the public because they are moving about in public on a daily basis. Statistics claim 1 in 3 Americans take some form of depression medicines, some take multiple medications. These medications are designed to change and alter the mind or in some way effect the mental health of individuals. There are people diagnosed with all types of mental illness taking meds by which even bare the warning of “If you have thoughts of harming yourself or others, stop use and consult your doctor.” If a drug has the capacity of a side effect to alter your mind to to cause harm to yourself such as suicide, it also has the capacity to alter a mind to kill someone other than yourself. Not only does drugs such as depression meds cause side effects for some to kill them self or others but even drugs such as Chantix which is a stop smoking med that warns of aggressive side effects and irritability and possible suicidal thoughts and drugs like this aren’t even addressing mental health issues but have effects on mental health.
Many of the guns purchased end up staying in someones closet or nightstand draws for years and years. These people taking mind altering drugs are among us on a daily basis. Pedophiles are registered somewhere to inform the public who they are, but a list of them with their address is not listed in the local newspaper, nor are these people taking meds that might have the side effect of them causing harm to them self or others. But they are moving amongst me and my children and my family on a daily basis and no one knows who they are because the NY York times don’t deem them a threat to society but they do deem a gun owner whose guns for the most part spend their time laying in drawers and closets. Guns don’t pick and choose who or when they will kill, it is the mind of a human that chooses when that gun will fire and at who.
That being said, people who have some sort of mental disorder or are taking some sort of medicine that alters or in some fashion has the ability to alter the thought process of individuals pose a far greater threat to the public than a gun owner. These people who have mental disorders don’t need a gun to murder or harm others, if their mind is telling them to do such a thing they will use whatever is available whether it be pushing people over ledges, stabbing them, beating them with bats or tie irons or other tools turned into a weapon, using a car as their choice of tool for the massacre, the list goes on and on of what tool can be used to commit a crime. If a gun is not available for the attacker, whatever is handy at the time and location will serve the same purpose and intent.
As lovinspoonful claimed – and I agree – not all mentally ill are violent nor are all legal abiding gun owning citizens violent just because they desire to have the ability to defend themself if and when they encounter some mentally disturbed or simply a blatant criminal minded person who’s intend is to kill anything in their way so as to leave no witness after the crime whether it be robbery or theft of some kind vengeance toward an individual.
Bottomline – The news paper has no right to invade the privacy of gun owners based on the allegation that gun owners are a threat to public safety. If that to be true, then it should hold true across the board and pedophiles and mentally ill should be published in the local news including their address as they equally have the potential to pose a threat to me, my family and especially my children as they are moving around freely in public daily.

I read your post thoroughly. It was a near perfect post which addresses many things I now do not have to explain. Your explanation/comment is so good it speaks for me also. Now I must add to my original post, some of which will cover what you stated in various way.
I initially wrote my comment in order to show the hypocrisy of the Marxists (Liberals are nothing more than Marxists and I call them such most times.) Such people thinks they can arbitrarily single out any thing and demonize it in order to justify their immediate cause. I mentioned drugs, among other things in order to show the reader there is NO end to the Marxist hypocrisy and one demonetiz only leads to another. Understand the Marxist mindset, that in their perceived utopia there can be a law to cure everything. They believe forms of democratic law is the highest level of human achievement in society. We see this ideology every day by the asinine number and types of laws they submit for legislation. My post was only a dramatization of the stupidity and arrogance of the Marxist you have in office all around today. And sadly they are now dictating your lives to you. I found it quiet intriguing that so many people took my comments so seriously concerning the statement on drugs while not making the connection that everything else can also be considered a threat of some type, subject to restrictions. (Well a couple of ya’ll caught it.)
There is a simple yet unacknowledged reason that the Marxists can get away with asinine and arrogant behavior today. It is also a main reason the united states in no longer a unified nation, nor will it ever be again.
The reason for all the above is this, people has tossed aside and lost their morals, their moral fortitude and where the credit for such is to be given. And all this results in a loss of plain ole commonsense. This means, while people may have much knowledge, from books and education, it also means they don’t have the ability to properly comprehend and apply the knowledge they do have. These self-professed “knowledgeable” people holding their degrees and certificates of merits can ONLY do according to arbitrary thoughts at the moment on any given thing, specifically concerning theology, political sciences and the Liberal Arts in general, as they have rejected any basis of any non-changing values and beliefs. And this is EXACTLY what Karl Marx teaches on Marxism. Everything becomes relevant, everything depends upon the moment. There is no God except for man’s faith in himself. What you are witnessing today in this country is the results of man rejecting God and placing himself in God’s place. In doing so, every person that accepts such faith, in the process also rejects the Declaration of Independence and the US Constitution that resulted form it.
A nation is built from many countries and states or even regions that has commonalities of a people that will bind them together. For example the 13 original states and then every state afterwards had the commonality of a belief and faith in God and Natural Law. This set the foundations for a non-changing basis of a moral society. While not every last person agreed to this, it was such a large majority that the minority would be bound by a much larger majority. (If this doesn’t suit your thinking and understanding, look at it this way. It’s the same thing as having the Muslims that are here today having an equal say in all of government and their forms of law having equal standing to what you have. Or shall I say what you did have.)
We now have a divided nation that is on the verge of collapse. This cannot be stopped because people will NEVER seriously consider the necessary steps needs to solve the problem. You have at least two large groups of people with TWO entirely views, concepts of life and where they place their faith accordingly. These two concepts are like fire and ice or oil and water, as they simply do mix, and trying to mix them causes many problems. Therefore the nation will soon become so intolerable to both sides violence will have to erupt and the nation disintegrate.
I could explain how all this came about, who is responsible, past and present; but at this point it is un-necessary because many of you have already rejected what I have wrote. And that is fine, as well as the reason I need not go into further details.
As for my antagonist, I note she has a helper now. Another fellow by the of “siquijorisland”. He too developed a habit of following me in the past but hadn’t wrote much concerning me in awhile. I had hoped he had just vanished or learned his attacks were pointless. Unfortunately that does not seem to be the case. He started attacking me under much the same conditions as lovinspoonful. (Note: lovinspoonful is an older aged woman. I don’t know her exact age, nor do I care, but she had listed this a few months ago as a comment to someone else.) As I said last night, beware those who pretend to be of like mind until you get to know them real well. Don’t forget, they have an agenda also.

I would report her; but what’s the use? In this day and age, even here, it would be useless and would most likely only cause problems for me with the moderators. It’s just the way the system works any more, even at reputed conservative websites. You did make a point I never considered though, siqujorisland could very well be connected with her, both having the same mentality and traits. The only real way this could be dealt with is, if most all the people that disagrees with what she does would just condemn her for it. If 1/2 dozen people or more gave her and siqujorisland a good thrashing, paying them back in return, it would surly deter their insane habits of leeching onto other people harassing them. You’re right, but there’s actually a double-edged sword regarding this “outing” of gun owners. Some criminals will use the map to select homes that do not have guns, for obvious reasons, so they won’t risk the chance of being shot. But, some criminals will choose the homes of gun owners who are at work, so that they can steal their guns! Guns typically cost $400-1200. And many police stations are doing these stupid “gun buyback” programs WITH NO QUESTIONS ASKED. The person literally pulls up, pops his trunk open, and the cop will remove whatever guns are in the trunk and give the punk debit cards in exchange for them.
If you ask me, that’s like a no-questions-asked pawn shop. The police have basically enlisted criminals to come get our guns; this is a gun confiscation program really. If you don’t think so, think harder, who would turn their gun in for only $200 debit card? But a stolen gun for $200, that’s easy money.

I would VERY much like to know exactly which part of the US Constitution gives you the RIGHT to invade my privacy and know whether or not I have a gun? I have read, and REREAD, the Constitution many times over and I have never, EVER, seen any part that referes to this kind of Communistic babble. You can’t just make up the parts that suit you and ignore all the rest. It’s a complete document, one that the governement and ALL of the elected representatives swore an oath on, to defend it and enforce it. In New York most handgun owners are not given permission to carry concealed and therefore must leave their guns at home. It sets the stage for a robbery with guns as the main objective. All a criminal has to do is obtain the copy of the list and then case a residence for its occupants schedules, the newspaper has laid ground work for future anti-gun ammo to be used.
Saying that it is public record may be true, but, how many people will be bothered to fuddle through the process in order to obtain this information, certainly not crooks, but this paper has made its citizens targets for criminals and they may have put lives in danger.

Posting identities and addresses of law abiding citizens whose backgrounds have been verified in the permit approval process is nothing more than grandstanding .
Not only have the individuals who hold permits been placed at risk, but the areas shown with no permits permit holders have been identified for the convenience of any criminals who wish to use the information.
I understand that the paper intends to do a follow up including additional areas as soon as the information is made available to them. I would suggest that they might include individual addresses and names of those who share their distaste the permit holders which chose to exercise their 2nd amendment rights. This would insure that their readers would have the option of seeking help at an unarmed residence if the need arises.

In NY in order to get a handgun permit you have to do the following,
Pay $10.00 for the application, you have to fill out 2 applications in black ink.
Not have any felony’s nor arrested for any type of drugs. If arrested on a misdemeanor any time in your past, provide an arrest affidavit and a letter explaining the arrest.
Not be in the process of a divorce or have been divorced or separated recently.
Write a letter to the judge explaining why you want a handgun permit (even though you already filled this info out on the application)
Provide 4 references and have each of them fill out and sign the application with name, address, phone number, occupation and social security number and then have each of them fill out an affidavit with the same info, less social security number and have it notarized.
Certificate of handgun safety course.
Submit proof of a deposit on a handgun with either a dealer or private person or shared ownership with another pistol permit holder.
Provide a self addressed stamped envelope and the ten dollar receipt.
Have all this done in 60 days.
Drop off the package to the sheriffs office.
Waite months for a judge to review your application.
If approve you get a letter in the mail to make an appointment with the sheriffs office to get finger printed and interviewed and review you application again.
Pay $94.25 in a money order to have your finger prints taken and checked.
You are not given a concealed carry permit right away, depending on the judge reviewing you application you can apply for a modification later,
Your gun, the model, make and serial number are recorded on your permit.
In New York if you do not possess a handgun permit you cannot touch a handgun from family members, in a store or from friends and legal authorities.
In New York we have to jump through hoops in order to obtain a handgun permit and have to be squeaky clean, for this new paper to post the names and addresses of handgun owners is unconscionable. They should post the name and addresses of people who have arrest records for committing violent crimes, that would be more of a public service instead of grandstanding for gun control.

Boy, I’m glad, even grateful to God I am not a Yankee! I find it so odd and even ironic that *up North* people claim to be so freedom loving and passionate about their rights and beliefs can stoop so low in so many things, with gun control being just one. In North Carolina anyone with a “concealed carry permit” can buy handguns INSTANTLY upon presenting the permit. Of course you have the Federal BATF paperwork to fill, and that is regardless where you live. If you don’t have a concealed carry permit, you obtain one through your Sheriff’s Office. It’s been so long ago since I done this I don’t know what has changed, but you’d pay 10 bux, fill out the form, giving SSN, DOB (Such as on your Driver’s License) Name 4 character witnesses. Fill out a small box stating if the firearm was for sport, self-defense, collections…ect.. and that is all. Normally a wait of about an hour or so for approval, many times in smaller countries, in as little as 10 minutes. You’re good to go… bang bang!!
And just think of the firearms related shootings differences where you are and where I am. It’s a different world and definitely a different country between where we live! Absolutely NO insult intended to’ya, and I wish you the best. I applied for an out of state permit in pa, I filled out both sides of an application, provided verifiable references had my finger prints taken, paid a $30.00 fee and had my permit in 30 minutes without having to register a gun to my permit.
My home state would rather give criminals more rights than good citizens.
