Mossad chief Tamir Pardo held secret talks with top U.S. officials in recent days, cursory comments made during a public Senate hearing indicated on Tuesday.
The clandestine Washington visit was exposed during a hearing of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, which was participated by CIA Director David Petraeus, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, and Dianne Feinstein, who chairs the Senate panel.
During the meeting, Feinstein asked Clapper whether or not Israel intended to strike Iran’s nuclear facilities, with the top U.S. intelligence official answering that he would rather discuss the issue behind closed doors.
Feinstein then indicated that she had met Mossad chief Pardo earlier in the week in Washington, with Petraeus adding that he too met Pardo and cited what he called Israel’s growing concern over Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
The CIA chief also said that it was important to note that Israel considered a nuclear Iran as an existential threat.

If Iran decides that the best way to destroy Israel is first to neutralize the U.S. by launching a short range nuke armed missile for which we have no effective defense other than detecting and preemptively taking out the launching platform, very possibly a harmless looking sea vessel steaming along in the Gulf of Mexico, and the missile tracked reasonably well to a 200 mile high altitude detonation over the center of America, you RichardM along with all of us, would instantly be transformed back to the 18th century in terms of your/our living conditions. It’s called an Electro-Magnetic Pulse of intense gamma ray radiation, a phenomenon known since the first test detonation of an atomic device in 1945 in New Mexico which shortly led to “Fat Man” and “Little Boy” and unconditional surrender by the Japanese. Such an intense pulse harms no one on the ground nor produces any explosive shock wave or radiation fallout given the height of the detonation. What it does do is it instantly fries our unshielded power grid nationwide and all electronic powered devices including electronic ignitions in transportation vehicles of all kinds, ALL kinds. How long do you think you would survive RichardM with no food resupply because none would be forthcoming for a long time. Such damage cannot be quickly fixed by the local power company. It could take months if not years to restore electrical power. Now, rhetorically speaking, do you think that might be good enough reason to get alarmed about Iran’s nuclear arming capability and their suicidal quest for using it to neutralize the “Great Satan” the U.S., so they could then unopposed destroy the “Little Satan” tiny Israel and in so doing call forth their so-called Missing Imam to head up their long sought worldwide Caliphate? All of this Islamo-Nazi belief system is a parody of the Holy Bible’s Escatology, i.e. the end times, but they believe it to their deaths. We in coordination with the Israelies can attack their nuclear development facilities setting them back significantly if not destroying them altogether. That is what the former Senators and our Intelligence people are seriously considering and rightly so. It does not require any land invasion though its reasonable to assume that local Iranian dissidents would seize the opportunity to overthrow their Imam rulers and retake their country much like what has been seen in other parts of the Islamic world of late. I’m sure Jimmy Carter would find reason to object. After all it was JC who saw to it that Ayatollah Khomeni was restored to power in Iran “he’s a holy man” while refusing to assist the Shah of Iran against the ensuing Iranian Revolution at the time. The Shah was our ally.

Bush created a stable Iraq with a stable leader so that the Mideast would have some stability until Obama removed all the troops and started his “good” war with Afghanistan which we are losing. Now the Muslim Brotherhood controls the Mideast with Obama’s help of lack of it. By the way, did you get one of those free Obama cell phones the rest of us paid for!
