Ferreting out the truth and/or a hidden agenda is a formidable task when confronted with obfuscation and blatant lies from the mouths of our political policy makers. If an individual takes an oath to uphold the Constitution and subsequently engages in efforts designed to thwart the Constitution, they have violated that oath and it should be an impeachable offense. Those of us observing such behavior have concluded honor, trust and integrity are rare commodities in the world of politics. Western Journalism provides us with some much needed input and may temper the arrogance we see on display by those we elect, supposedly to serve the public.
Had the good fortune of growing up in a small farming community. One gas station, one general store and a post office in someone's home (population just under 300). Father, the son of Italian immigrants, served in the military and family publicly praised for having 7 sons in combat during World War II. We lived in an old frame house with no indoor plumbing or electricity and began construction on a new home at the age of 11 (1949). Mother almost died while giving birth to my youngest brother and all the savings for a new home were used to pay medical bills. Walked into our yard after school one day to find our Mother digging a hole in the ground with a shovel (to be a basement for our new home). That house got built with everyone doing what they could, with my father doing almost everything, including the construction, plumbing, and electrical, all while holding down a full-time job as a "presser" in a garment factory (stated on a copy of my original birth certificate) or for the CCC. Much of the construction material came from the demolition of the CCC buildings and somehow funds were scraped together for the tools and material he had to buy new. It took three years to build the house and the education my father got caused him to begin remodeling homes for a living, subsequently building new tract homes for a large builder and finally becoming a custom home builder of such quality that clients sought him out.
Received a 4-year academic scholarship to Rutgers University upon graduation from high school (1956) and received a B.S. in Animal Science (1960). Passed up an opportunity to go to veterinary school and spent 10 years in biomedical research. Had a career change in 1972 which ultimately led to having multiple real estate offices and a heavy equipment and sand and gravel mining operation. Made a lot of money and lost a lot of money. Discovered when Bankers love you and when they don't. Have a real distaste for a certain peanut farmer many thought was capable of running a Country. More like running it into the ground.
Feel a great deal of pride when thinking about my parents. Never heard either one of them utter a cuss word. They were both scrupulously honest. They expected the same of their children. My Dad had a very strict code by which he lived, even if it cost him financially. When I was a teenager he told me "A liar and a thief is worse than a murderer". Don't think I fully understood that message but I never forgot it. It carries added meaning to me now. The lies and thievery on Capitol Hill could destroy this Nation. Sadly, pathological liars cannot distinguish between their lies and the truth.
