Glen 'Big Baby' Davis suspected in Hollywood assault - report
Things have gone from bad to worse on the legal front for Glen “Big Baby” Davis.
The former NBA standout and owner of a championship ring from his days with the Boston Celtics already faces criminal marijuana possession charges stemming from a bust in Maryland in March.
Now he’s in trouble in his home in California, where he might be facing an assault rap thanks to a nightclub incident that turned violent in Hollywood.
TMZ Sports reports that Davis is a suspect in a brutal beating April 8 in West Hollywood.
“We’re told cops believe Davis got into a physical altercation with a man outside of a West Hollywood nightclub on April 8 — and ultimately slammed the man down on the concrete,” TMZ said. “Davis allegedly fled the scene before cops arrived.
“Sources say the victim was hospitalized with multiple broken bones and a broken tooth and he was on a ventilator for a day. “
Davis had previously been identified as a “person of interest,” according to TMZ, but as more witnesses have come forward, that status has been upgraded to the point where prosecutors believe they can pin a felony assault charge on the former NBA star.
Police are expected to file those charges with the district attorney’s office in order to obtain a warrant for Davis’ arrest.
Davis himself has remained mum on the subject of the charges, refusing to speak to media.

TMZ initially reported that Davis had been seen near the scene of the crime “driving erratically.”
The report went on in more detail:
“Law enforcement sources tell us … witnesses have told investigators Davis was driving erratically in a parking lot Sunday evening near Factory nightclub in West Hollywood.
“After nearly striking a man with his vehicle, witnesses say the victim tried to confront Davis … but Davis got out of his car and things turned physical.
“We’re told witnesses say Davis threw the man to the ground — and eventually left the scene.”
It remains to be seen whether and how these criminal allegations intersect with the ongoing issues in Maryland.
