Fran Drescher Hints 'The Nanny' Revival Could Be on the Table

Share

It seems like the latest trend in TV is revivals. From “Fuller House” to “Roseanne,” the american public is loving the nostalgia of watching beloved sitcoms from the 80’s and 90’s.

Because of this growing trend, fans are always curious which show will come back next.

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Fran Drescher confirmed that conversations have started about a revival of the beloved sitcom “The Nanny.”

“The Nanny” aired six seasons from 1993 until 1999 and followed Fran Fine who became a nanny to three children of a millionaire, Maxwell Sheffield. Drescher and her now ex-husband, Peter Marc Jacobson, created the sitcom together.

“It was a turning point for me in my career without question,” Drescher said. She went on to say that the show gave her a platform which gave her the “ability to leverage celebrity for the greater good and (for) the things that I’m passionate about.”

In the interview, Dresher admitted that she and Jacobson have talked about it. “We’re working on a very big project. It’s going to be very exciting for the fans, but I’m not at liberty to announce it yet. But it’s gonna be big,” she said.

While the show ended with Ms. Fine and Mr. Sheffield finally getting married, Drescher said that a revival would not be able to just pick up where it left off.

“She would’ve maybe gotten involved in more things (that) Fran Drencher is involved with. All kinds of things from environmental issues, to health, to civil liberties, that’s what I think Fran would be doing now– opening her big Queens mouth for the greater good,” she said.

With the sudden cancellation of the “Roseanne” revival, fans claim that a revival of “The Nanny” would be the perfect replacement.

Drescher has responded by saying, “I’m not mad at that suggestion.”
