Mass killers are celebrated endlessly by a salivating national media unless their murderous exploits are thwarted by Americans with a privately-owned pistol and a concealed carry license.
Nothing stirs “journalistic” juices like the mass extinction of helpless victims by a gun-wielding assassin. Excited by an inevitable spike in public interest generated by tales of massive blood loss, animated reporters begin the familiar agenda of educating their audience on the dangers inherent in assault weapons, large-capacity magazines, and lawmakers intimidated by the NRA.
But let the grisly exploits of a psychopathic shooter be interrupted by an armed citizen, and media interest suddenly disappears while kudos for the heroic deed are bestowed upon anyone but the courageous gun owner actually responsible! It is a story that will immediately disappear from the pages of every newspaper in the country.
In an Oregon mall, the killer of 2 people committed suicide immediately after being confronted by an armed, concealed carry license holder. Both the media and police spokesmen credit County officers with having prevented additional deaths, never mentioning the fact that police arrived AFTER the shooter had died.
In 1997, a Mississippi high school student killed 2 classmates and wounded 7 others. An assistant principle retrieved a .45 from his car and held the killer at bay until police arrived. CNN made NO mention of Principal Myrick’s weapon, reporting he had stopped the killer with his car!
In 1991, a concealed carry license holder killed 2 criminals who held 20 customers prisoner at an Alabama Shoney’s. Though having potentially saved numerous lives, the sum total of the media’s interest in the story and its hero is contained in one, lone LA Times reference.
Upon being told he was failing, an Appalachian Law School student murdered 3 people at the school. The media reported that he was “tackled” by 2 fellow students, preventing additional killings. The media FAILED to mention that those students were armed with their own pistols.
According to a study done by FSU criminologist Gary Kleck, there are some 2 million defensive uses of firearms “by law abiding citizens” each year. Yet from the murders of 23 defenseless customers at a Luby’s Restaurant in Texas to the tragedy in Connecticut, our national media celebrates and sensationalizes the actions of cold-blooded killers while ignoring, even deliberately misreporting, the countless efforts of armed, private citizens in the protection of their own lives and the lives of total strangers.
After all, to make known the true value of guns in the saving of lives and property would be to betray the agenda of ending their private ownership!
Besides, everyone knows that police and government officials—that is, the “legally” armed professionals– can do all that’s really necessary when it comes to taking care of the public. Think how efficient they were in taking care of the corpses at Sandy Hook!

I believe we should stop arguing over guns and the right to own them. Even if the anti-gun nuts win and all the guns are gone…that will not eliminate the reason(s) that necessitated the need for the second amendment in the first place. Envision the USA as the anti-gun nuts do. They live in a fantasy world believing that now the USA will be a peaceful utopia and they will finally be safe. THIS IS INSANE DELUSIONAL THINKING! The pro-gun and second amendment advocates need to stop playing the game of gun protection and begin a campaign of education for adults and children. Guns are a tool just like any other. They are all meant for good but can be abused for bad. Shovels can kill you and also bury you. Does that make them evil? The mythological thinkers hate education. They don’t want children educated about their sexuality or about the violence of guns. OK fine. Why not start educating everyone about the good side and how to protect the good side of life and stop living in fear of what “might” happen. Evil is inherent in an uneducated public.

You forgot to mention the San Antonio, TX theater shooting on Dec 16th, where the gunman was taken down by the sheriff’s deputy who happened to see the commotion in the theater. Only the gunman and one other innocent bystander (shot by the gunman) were hurt. The libocrats are just looking for another regulation to herd us all into the large fenced areas that are going up (funded by the Dept of Homeland Security) around the country… Has anyone seen these yet?
Right now depraved killers are using firearms out of convenience, take away guns and these same people will use more creative ways to kill large groups of people. I will not go into detail as to how these people could do this, but there are many avenues available open to people who are determined to kill.
Removing guns in American society will be a first step towards totalitarianism and those who are part of this agenda will attempt to recruit as many people using any means possible. I cringe at every incident that involves a firearm because it is ammo being used by the liberal left to disarm us.
They may make the penalties for possession of a firearm more sever than manslaughter if they get to ban guns. My feeling is that they will never get all the firearm that are out their. The shear numbers of firearms in America is staggering, they may get many, but, most I think will be defiant and hide and hoard for a time when there is a calling.
On the subject of these sick mass killers, I would like to know what their political beliefs are and how liberal a mindset they have. I wouldn’t be surprised if most where Democrat and atheist. These people prey on those who are in gun free zone because they know there will be no resistance and they will have absolute power as long as the ammo holds out. We never had this type of problem until the liberal mindset of child rearing showed its ugly head. The social changes in the past three decades are to blame for this new social shock and awe killings. These people want the world to know what they did and the media is more than willing to give these people what they want.
