John Kerry SC Many in Congress invested in news media

Many members of Congress have financial interests in the media that cover them, financial disclosure documents show.

The Center for Responsive Politics reported Wednesday some 60 senators and representatives, or their spouses, have investments in at least 19 media corporations.

Among them, at least seven members have media investments worth at least $100,000. Sen. John Kerry, D-Mass., ranks first with his family’s millions of holdings in several companies, including Comcast, which is buying NBC, and News Corp., which owns Fox News and The Wall Street Journal.

Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y., struggling to survive a sex scandal, owns between $1,001 and $15,000 in The New York Times, his latest report shows.

“If congressmen are investing in The New York Times, does that filter into the newsroom?” asked Kevin Smith, chairman of the ethics committee of the Society of Professional Journalists. “What happens is that it does raise red flags.”

  1. Congressional members in general are corrupt. A peoples revolt in my opinion is all that can now save this nation.

  2. And we talk about Russia and news outlet propaganda> hummm. Actually this is not some new revalation – of course this criminals in D.C. (and the states) have holdings in the media. It's corporate America in bed with the clowns running the show. I enjoy watching as the people of this once great country tear into each other. Absolutely amazing that many of the liberals think that their guy is really looking out for them. At least the majority ( I think anyway) of republicans, well I should say conservatives know better than to believe a politician, especially after Bush. However bad he was, GWB was still 100 times better than what we have now.

When One Looks At The Poor Job The US Congress Has Done In The Last Couple Of Years, Yikeess, I Will Pass On Any Investments With John Kerry, Little Weiner, And George Soros Media, Because They Are Known To Cut And Run When The Heats-On. God Bless America
