We’ve often said that the media “protects” President Obama but this video from WIND radio host and Big Blogs contributor William Kelly shows this allegation literally.
Kelly, a Chicagoan, was there when Rahm Emmanuel was pressing the flesh, kissing babies, and greeting reporters. Emmanuel didn’t account for unassuming Kelly to fire off serious journalistic questions more pressing than the requisite “how’s it feel to be back?”
Kelly didn’t account for was the manner in which Chicago reporters behaved. Are these reporters or palace guards? In the video you see them physically move to shield Emmanuel from Kelly’s questioning, as though their backs alone would deflect the questions.
Kelly is berated and shoved by mainstream media journalists, but the scene stealer is when CBS2’s Jay Levine (who has not responded to my requests for comment) screams at Kelly, “Let him finish or I’m gonna deck you!”

I disagree; by that argument Al Gore and Bill O'Reilly would still be considered journalists (a claim neither of them would make) since they both formerly worked as investigative reporters. When I was a journalist I wouldn't have blogged (or commented on other blogs) the way I do know, or engaged in political activities as I do now.

I'm an associate professor of communication studies, and have taught media law (and several other classes). I've also written two books (the latter of which was a finalist for a national award based on original research), which you can easily find on Amazon.

Mr Kelly, did a great job in exposing the other reporters who kissed Rham's derriere, rather then ask pertinent questions. How did Rham handle the rule of at least a one year residency requirement , we know he has been out of the area for two years,with his home is rented and occupied by a tenant.. Oh Well! this is the city that knows how to bend all sorts of rules and they'll find a way around this one too.. Reporter Kelly, asked the hard questions that people want answers to, not the usual crap of " Hows it feel to be back Rham?" . Other media a## k#SS#RS may tread easy because they are afraid of being locked out of the news by the venomous temper of the great Emanuel. Kudos to reporter Kelly for restoring a bit of respect for truth in reporting, which has been sadly missing from most of the slobbering press the past few years. Fox is the leading station, because they report what is really happening, and do not sugar coat like the Leg tingled channel.
