Liberal Dream Team To Host Presidential Debates

Jim Lehrer SC Liberal Dream Team to Host Presidential Debates

Conservative media watchdog Brent Bozell slammed the choice of only mainstream-media correspondents to moderate this year’s presidential debates, which could determine the outcome of the election. And he blames the Republican establishment for letting it happen.

“I scratch my head and ask myself the same question: How are they so dense?” Bozell says. “Here you’ve got Bob Schieffer, who’s been just slamming Paul Ryan all weekend long, and he’s going to moderate a debate.

“And all you’ve got to is look at the footage of his past debates,” said Bozell. “He’s terrible.”

The Commission on Presidential Debates announced the schedule for this year’s all-important presidential debates on Monday. No conservative journalists were named.

The first debate will be held in Denver on Oct. 3. It will be moderated by longtime newsman Jim Lehrer of PBS.

  1. I agree with Mr. Bozell, this is not in the best interest of the Republicans to allow this bunch of left wing lunatics to mc this debate. They will go out of their way to frame questions, and subjects, to make the Republicans look as though they are criminals. Then they will frame their questions to make the criminal cabal in the WH seem as though they are saints. This is not good and whoever agreed to this setup ought to have their head examined.

  2. after watching the 2008 campaign I could almost swear the GOP just let it go down bkz they knew it would be almost impossible to win and I almost think they wanted BO in there, I mean in all fairness we did just have 8 years and this is a black man running…What I want to know is – Are they (the GOP) throwing this election again? I mean on purpose. The dumb ass mistakes they make are suspicious to say the lest.

  3. If I was Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan I would challege this . There is no reason they should have to do a debate with a bunch of Liberal Democrats asking all the Questions. I would tell them 4 debates with 2conseratives on the panel and 2 Liberals or no deal. the same for Ryan too.

  4. Nothing like stacking the deck against you. May answer to Liberals go s/c/r/e/w/ yourself.

  5. This can’t possibly fly. I know the republican establishment is dumb, but surely not even they are that dumb. Romney and Ryan should let it be known that unless there is a balance of liberal and conservative questioners they won’t participate in the debates. They really don’t need the debates anyway. Presidential debates have become little more than photo-ops to see who sweats the least, who commits the fewest gaffes, who looks the prettiest, on camera. In other words you learn really nothing new of substance from them.

Gamesmanship and debating style, sure they are worth something in terms of their entertainment value, but that’s really all. Image making of that sort is shallow and says nothing about the individual’s wisdom and ability to lead. Imagine today featuring someone like Harry Truman or Dwight Eisenhower in a debate. They would be laughed at and mocked much the same as national hero James Stockdale was when he participated in a three way debate back when he was the running mate for Ross Perot. I suspect that even Abe Lincoln would be viewed much as a country bumpkin if he were to participate in one of these presidential debates today.

Obama will not be up against a weak debater like McCain this time around. It should be a whole new ballgame for him. And Biden up against Ryan? That should be very entertaining. I’m still amazed that Biden has not been shown the door and Billary asked to enter. The responder in these debates does not have to stick to the thread some liberal questioner tries to invoke. He can always turn the tables on the questioner which is something most experienced politicians are good at doing whence they dodge the question asked and end up answering a totally different question. In so doing they can make whatever point needs to be made. While Bozell is technically correct, I don’t think it’s that big of a deal.

I can’t get too worked up about the format. We saw a good example of this with Gingrich’s recent skewering of CNN’s Piers Morgan and before that it was MSNBC’s darling, Rachel Madcow who came up on the short end of the stick. Liberals don’t really have any good answers for Obama’s record. When challenged on it they try desperately to change the subject.

  6. This is a good time to sock it to the Liberals… R & R will be prepared to wipe the floor with Obama & Biden and the Liberal media is affording them the opportunity.
