I watch the enemy. My political enemies are those who hate America. Our enemies must be observed and analyzed in order to keep them in check and prevent them from winning their media propaganda war. “Know thine enemy.”
My targets change occasionally; but right now, my enemies in the media include MSNBC (Rachel Maddow, Christopher Hayes, Chris Matthews, Al Sharpton, Lawrence O’Donnell, etc.); the NY Times (Paul Krugman, Maureen Dowd, etc.); The Daily Kos; the Daily Beast; and a whole host of other progressive liberal media channels who make their living from bashing the opposition Conservatives who only love America.

Of course, add to my ‘enemies list’ Slate and Salon, two early-days Internet rags that can always be counted on to smear, name-call, and falsely denigrate the American Right. Salon in particular has been somewhat effective as a pseudo-intellectual media source that has never met a Conservative it didn’t hate. Simpler minds are undoubtedly attracted to this kind of perverse trickery.
That’s the central characteristic of hateful liberals: they think they’re smarter than the rest of us Americans. They love using big words and complicated concepts to slam the rest of us. They have literally ‘gotten too big for their britches.’
Now that Salon’s man Obama is encountering hydra-headed scandals increasingly looking like mortal wounds for his reign, Salon has to take a different tack and utilize a different strategy. They can no longer write fawning, obsequious little ‘puff pieces’ as they did so regularly during the first six years of their chosen one’s terrorization of Americans. So of course, they are resorting to what all Conservatives like me hope is the ‘last, death-rattle’ of their political kind: hit pieces on the Right and attacks on America herself.
Nothing is more despicable than attacking America on Independence Day. Nothing could be more anti-American, anti-Capitalist, and anti-Freedom (or cowardly for that matter) than intentionally conceiving and writing an article on our nation’s birthday to smear and pillage this great nation.

But Salon has no compunction about smearing this country, our great military, and American Conservatives … no they don’t. In fact, that’s how they were born, how they grew, and how they continue to make money.
It is in this context that I now refer you, dear reader, to an article Salon published on the morning of Friday, July Fourth, our country’s 238th birthday. Entitled “We the people are violent and filled with rage: A nation spinning apart on its Independence Day” and sporting the sub-head, “School shootings, hatred and capitalism run amok: This 4th of July we are in the midst of a tragic public derangement,” I just had to read this article written by convicted, recidivist America-hater Jim Sleeper. I felt sick to my stomach after reading Sleeper’s headline. But just like getting a root-canal, lengthy back surgery, or a prostate examination, I had to do it; it was necessary. And so was this, my response.
Sleeper, as a writer for liberal mouthpieces HuffPo, NY Times, and The New Republic, has been a visible gun-control enthusiast. But never fear: Sleeper also loves other Conservative-bashing issues too; he’s a real egalitarian.
While lecturing at Yale since 1999, Sleeper has alarmingly accessed the young minds of political science undergraduates there to infect them with his biased, personal opinions on “American identity, journalism, liberalism, and democracy.” Wow, good to see Sleeper’s doing his part in indoctrinating the new Bolshevik leaders of tomorrow. Horrifying, really.
Sleeper’s grubby fingerprints also seem stuck to an odd, suspect joint-venture between his Yale University and the National University of Singapore.
An ardent cheerleader for the urine-soaked Occupy Wall Street mob (read my HuffPo take on OWS here), Sleeper is also involved in the scatological publication Dissent, which is a thinly-veiled, Communist, anarchist rag nobody in their right mind could ever thumb through without having all the proper shots.
The article opens up with a large image of all the wicked, insane lunatics responsible for the Newtown, Virginia Tech, Aurora, and other mass shootings, with which the liberal orthodoxy is so obsessively unhinged and has used to control and manipulate their gun control legislation attempts over recent years. It’s as if they think it’s entirely up to them to save America from gun nuts who are invariably the result of the Left’s civil rights programs shunning and defunding mental health programs. So the very first image I saw gave me a solid idea of what was to come.
Taking our guns away are only one key activity for Sleeper and Salon. The list is long of the Constitutional rights they want taken away or contradicted through their deceitful legislation. Add to the list of things they love: Abortion, unions, big government, higher taxes, increased entitlements, open borders, a weak military, releasing and being weak on criminals, same-sex marriage, and controverting the entire gamut of American values that built this country. If they could completely remove The Bible from American society, they certainly would and rejoice at that.
Things they hate include just those things: Religion, pro-life beliefs, the sanctity of marriage, the 2nd Amendment, a small federal government, lower taxes and less regulation, free markets, and so on. Obama, Sleeper and Salon are leading the charge for the total annihilation of their political opposition, Conservatives. How American is that?
I read other writers’ work with a keen eye on style, strategy, and the points they are either clearly making or the agenda behind vague points they might make because they are trying to manipulate their readers’ opinions. In the case of Sleeper’s little ode to America on July Fourth (strange birthday gift, no?), it was entirely the latter. But Sleeper’s writing style also made me angry. Like most of Salon’s politically devious drivel, Sleeper has clearly outdone himself with this opportunistic hit-piece.
Using the constant multisyllabic verbiage that Salon has built its reputation upon, Sleeper tries too hard to impress, opening up with an Emerson quote specifically designed to appeal to Leftist readers and pull over readers who may be on the political fence.
Sleeper, however, is inherently dishonest in his writing because he doesn’t further justify whatever political points he’s trying to make (gee, I wonder with that article title), using quotes from Karl Marx, Lenin, Trotsky, Gorbachev, Soros, or Leftist darling Saul Alinsky as one would expect. No, that would be too honest and forthright.
Instead, Sleeper corruptly includes quotes from all the Conservative geniuses proved right over the centuries. Adam Smith is liberally referred to, strange for an anti-Capitalist writer who so clearly pronounces his hatred for Capitalism in his headline. Edmund Burke, Alexis de Tocqueville, and Thomas Paine are also trotted out by Sleeper for underhanded and suspiciously vague sneering activities, although Sleeper doesn’t have the ‘cajones’ to be specific. Pretty cowardly, these progressive liberals. I mean. what credentials does a scribbler like Sleeper have to subtly and gutlessly criticize big-brained thinkers like these?
Being the sneaky writer he is, Sleeper tries to duplicitously sneak in amongst those great Conservative thinkers a decidedly Communist one, as if the reader would just speed-read right past it thinking “oh yes, G.W.F. Hegel was just like Adam Smith.” Sorry Sleeper, Hegel was the generally accepted mentor and motivator of Karl Marx. Nice try.
Marx was not the only one “deeply influenced” by Hegel; Friedrich Engels, another psychopathic ‘Founding Father of Communism,’ was also a Hegel fanatic.
Then, Sleeper only shoehorns Nathan Hale into his writing in order to analogize Dr. Martin Luther King into the scheme. Do you see the injustice done to both great men by making that comparison?
He mentions Al Gore’s “Inconvenient Truth” movie only briefly but tries to drive home the fallacious point that “our consumer society … can’t see its own Orwellian ensnarement by commercial censors.” We see where this all is heading.
And of course, Sleeper falls into the repeating, broken-record, liberal mantra of Eric Cantor’s recent loss, using it as a pathetic bludgeon against Republicans, rather than what he/they should be doing–which is questioning their own Democratic Party toadying.
And what of the writers’ creed of using three words instead of 37? Sleeper’s style is to use 3,337 when he could have used three: “I hate America.” On Independence Day no less. “Brevity is the soul of wit,” Shakespeare quipped; and he was right. But nevertheless, Sleeper ignores these writing maxims to his readers’ great loss.
Instead of talking up the Left’s great contributions to public discourse, Sleeper is left with only one possibility: to disparage and vilify the great Conservative writers and thinkers who built America. I don’t know about you, but I think Sleeper is using the wrong strategy; he should be promoting the great Liberal thinkers. Unfortunately, he can refer to absolutely no anti-American, anti-Capitalistic, or anti-Free Market thinkers of merit, much less writers of any importance whatsoever. There are none, literally.
So Sleeper does the only thing he can do: he attacks the clear-headed, values-oriented, right-thinking leaders of the kind of American values, thought, and faith who built this country. And on her birthday to boot.
Whenever I encounter (through some karmatic misfortune of mine) media like Salon and writers like Sleeper, I feel dirty. I want to take a shower and scrub myself clean in a radiation shower. I feel very much as if those six words from the ‘olden days’ are crucial to ask degenerative complainers and compulsive whiners like Sleeper and Salon: “America, love it or leave it.”
Painfully for us, it looks as if we’ll have Sleeper and Salon around for a little while longer. But not too long, hopefully.
