A senior House Republican is calling on President Obama to appoint a special counsel to investigate whether Attorney General Eric Holder lied to Congress about a controversial gun-tracking operation.
Rep. Lamar Smith (R-Texas), the chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, on Tuesday asked Obama to open an investigation into whether Holder told the truth when he testified that he only recently learned of Operation Fast and Furious, a gun-tracking operation staged by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Other top-ranking Republicans are demanding that Holder return to Capitol Hill to again testify under oath about the program.
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, told The Hill he will press ahead with the probe of Fast and Furious that he is conducting with Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee.
Issa is pushing Smith to investigate the matter himself and bring Holder before either of their committees to dig deeper into the issue.

Someone needs to tell Lamar Smith, he doesn't need special counsel, Holder is like Obama, if his lips are moving, he lied.
Everyone present when Holder testified knows he lied, everyone that has seen or read news knows he lied, he knows he lied, but he is impervious to any and all criticism as he enjoys the same hands-off privacy that the Congress and the courts have with Obama. It may be that Holder holds the key to Obama's secrets that citizens, and the Congress, have no access to. The nation is in a pickle the Congress and courts caused by not taking their responsibilities seriously, in short they dug a hole from which they cannot extricate themselves. Only those members of Congress in office when Obama cruised to victory but are now dead are free of guilt, swimmer Ted Kennedy and the old KKK guy, Byrd of West Virginia come to mind. They can hold ten hearings and come up empty, the Congress no longer matters.
It is nice that the Republicans are talking about this and that investigation… but let's see what they do… Remember there are some Republicans that are progressives … And two were recently elected that will probably protect the Democrats because they agree with some of the Dems agenda.

It sounds to me like they have him cold, with a lot of emails from last July that refer to the operation by name. From what I have seen of his inability to testify, he is a poor liar and doesn't have guts enough to implicate himself any further. The proof is there, it just needs to be presented.
If Holder misunderstood a question a first grader would be able to answer, then it is obvious that Holder is too incompetent to be an Attorney General, that would take at least a first grade education. So Holder needs to be fired for incompetence and the tried for perjury. After all that and Holder is behind bars, then Holder needs to be tried for the arming of anti-gov drug contras in Mexico & the USA.

Who arrests the chief lawmaker in the US. The constitution states clearyly that it is Congress' job to investigate and impeach high office holders. A cabinet member has been impeached before.
A pundit said it best on TV last night. They don't care, all of the White House is acting that if you ask any questions about this, you are the extreme one. I disagree. No special counsel. Special counsels are unconstitutional. The constitution is clear it is conrgress' job to investigate and if necessary impeach a cabinet member. Lamar Smith, needs to do his job and supeona everything and Holder today.
So will Obama bend and have a special counsel, (They used to call them special prosecutors), appointed to investigate his pal,(Holder), knowing that Holder will turn him over too? Or will he ignore subpoenas as he has in the past and just keep on breaking the law and foregoing the constitution?
