(CNSNews.com) – “The reason for the NATO and American intervention in Afghanistan was terrorism,” Afghan President Hamid Karzai told the CBS program “60 Minutes” in a report that aired on Sunday. But, he added, “Terrorism has not gone away. It has increased.”
Karzai listed a number of foreign groups that he says are sending fighters to his country: “Name them al Qaeda, name them Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan, name them Haqqani, name them Taliban, whatever. They’re still there. And they have the ability to continue 10 years on to come and hurt us and kill your troops and kill our troops, kill our civilians. We must then question how come they’ve returned?”
Karzai told Logan, “Something must have gone wrong” for the foreign troops to have returned.
Gen. John Allen, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, agreed with Karzai that “al Qaeda has come back.” But Allen told “60 Minutes” that al Qaeda is “not here in large numbers. But al Qaeda doesn’t have to be anywhere in large numbers.”
“Al Qaeda has significance beyond its numbers, frankly,” Allen continued. “And so for us, our 24-hour-a-day objective is to seek out those al Qaeda cells. And, as we seek them out, to target them and eliminate them. And we’re doing that 24 hours a day. We do not want al Qaeda to feel as though it can put down roots here. That’s the key.”

Good luck, the Russian’s could not win after fighting a ten year war and our dysfunctional Congress learned nothing from that nightmare and has caused our Military to live a similar nightmare for over ten years. Once Pandora’s Box is opened there is no way to close it.
Obama announcing an end-game date has empowered the radical Muslim’s to kill as manyAmerican’s as they can, Obama has shown the world how weak of Commander in Chief he really is and once the last American lifts off the tarmac Afghanistan will be completely over-run by the Muslim extremists.
Our country would I believe be better served if Senator’s and Congressmen all had strong Military experience, not necessary any that were prisoners, such as was Senator McCain, because they must have been subjected to torture and brain-washing, again, Senator McCain is a perfect example since he claims to be a Republican but is clearly a RINO. Strong military backgrounds would ensure that they all understood the perils of war and will work harder to try and negotiate a peace, if that failed a strong attack without deploying troops and instead unleashing the full air power that America has on the enemy which would also save thousands of military lives. Anyone that thinks that you can negotiate with radical Muslim’s is clearly delusional. From birth they are taught to hate and to be willing to die for the Prophet Mohammad, and their payment for their action will be 72 virgins in paradise. When you have lived in a mud hut with sheep or camels to release your sexual desires, 72 virgins might be something to look forward to. Their radicalMuslim leaders know that only too well, which is why they brain-wash them with such an enticing prize.
patti’s notes: terrorism ,will always be around, but obama and his staff in WH and other government offices, feel it is over. “well”, look what happened 9/11/212. still going on. we need to get back to being strict, not look weak like obama has made it look. need to rid as many as we can,as they are causing many people to die.wrong,wrong. pl,orl, fla
