Holder Not Your Father's DOJ SC

In response to numerous scandals that have plagued him during his service as attorney general, U.S. House Republicans Thursday presented articles of impeachment against Eric Holder. The Western Center for Journalism was at the forefront of this effort and is currently circulating a poll designed to gauge the public’s opinion on his proposed ouster.

Thankfully, several GOP representatives have been receptive to the growing number of calls to impeach Holder.

Rep. Pete Olson of Texas explained why he is on board with the impeachment effort, noting previous warnings have done nothing to curtail the Justice Department head’s criminal dereliction.

“Since the House voted in 2012 to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt,” he explained, “the pattern of disregard for the rule of law and refusal to be forthright has only continued.”

He said his decision came after significant thought, noting that he ultimately believes the “American people deserve answers” and if Holder “refuses to provide answers, then Congress must take action.”

Along with at least 10 other Republicans, Olson is floating a number of articles he hopes will eventually result in Holder’s impeachment. Among the charges included are his handling of the botched program known as Operation Fast and Furious.

The misguided move to arm Mexican gun traffickers with illegal firearms culminated with the shooting death of a U.S. Border Patrol agent.

Additional articles include Holder’s refusal to act in response to the Internal Revenue Services’ targeting of conservative groups and other contentious issues.

Impeachment is still a longshot, considering the responsibility of putting Holder on trial rests with the Democrat-led Senate. Nevertheless, the fact this issue is gaining traction among representatives is a positive sign for conservatives.

This corrupt administration has consistently found surreptitious ways to implement tyrannical policies. With just over three years left in his presidency, though, more and more Americans are beginning to see through such dishonest ploys.

A growing number of individuals are demanding accountability for the cover-ups and lies surrounding Obama and his Justice Department. For many, anything less than impeachment is unacceptable.
