In reporting on Obama’s speech to the Turkish parliament, The New York Times was like a groupie screeching over a rock star.
In yesterday’s story, the paper noted with satisfaction that Obama was “showing more self-confidence each day on his maiden overseas trip as president.”
It called his statement that he had lived in a Muslim country, “a bold one,” in that the president “has been falsely described as a Muslim … on some right-wing Web sites.” Finally, it was thrilled that, in another display of raw presidential courage, he was introduced as “Barack Hussein Obama.”
