Over 35 counties in Illinois missed the deadline to mail military ballots to our soldiers defending America. But in Chicago, county election officials have taken special steps to ensure that no inmates at the Cook County Jail are unable to cast a ballot.
The Chicago Board of Elections hand delivers ballots to the jail. They don’t even wait for the inmates to apply – they bring the applications with the ballots! Over 2,600 inmates have cast ballots so far – strikingly similiar to the 2,600 soldiers who will likely not recieve a ballot for the Nov 2 election.
Disgraceful does not begin to describe the Illinois Election system.

Look, this is Cook County we're talking about here, Land of the Democrats. Of course the low-life in County will vote for Dems (if they vote at all), that explains why ballots are hand-carried to them by the Dems. And if they don't vote, I'd bet that County Dems find a way to vote for them. It's assumed that the soldiers will be far more conservative with their votes, hence a good reason to keep them from receiving their ballots in time. Smells like Machine politics to me.

They deliver the ballots to the inmates and they can't get them to our service men and women overseas? I really didn't think the inmates were allowed to vote.

it is cruel and unusual punishment to deny them.

The Illinois Election System has always been corrupt!
The Kennedy & Nixon Presidential Election of 1960 was corrupted in illinois due to voting violatiions. Voting machines from primarily Republican Precincts were discovered in the Illinios River & other rivers & lakes statewide after the election.
It is dispicable that Illinois prisioners will be able to cast their votes but Illinois military personnel will not be able to do so.
I grew up a little south of Chi-town and I remember my Grandfather talking about the elections and that Chicago would wait until all votes were in and then they would increase the numbers they needed to get the Democrats in. He owned his own company and was a Democrat until the late 60's early 70's. I never understood why he changed until I was a lot older. Also Hot Cougar The Mayor during that election asked the Kennedy team how many votes they needed and from what I was told they responded. If you look at that election close you will see Illinois was the state that gave Kennedy the electoral votes needed. Interesting! Kirk is going to get the same treatment this election. So don't count Obamas old seat in the R side. Daley is/or worse than his father. GoldBug Please. Chicago (is what you say) Illinois does not.

What a shame it is that not one stinkin lawyer from Illinois cannot bring himself to bring lawsuit to the State of Illinois for denying our soldiers the right to vote. Nor have a committee to investigate what happened, or to throw in jail or fire the corrupt official that allowed, yes allowed on purpose this to happen. I believe I heard on the radio the guy who was in charge of mailing them did not give a damn what anybody thought. It is a travesty. I think sometimes the Republican party is so chicken shit to say anything in defense of itself, it sucks. The State is broke. why, because it is a big BLUE State. The Chicago Election Board not only led the lobbying to change state law to allow military and other overseas ballots to be accepted up to two weeks after Election Day, but also has led the way in lobbying for future changes to allow military and civilians overseas to return their ballots by fax and secured that allowance in a Special Election in 2009 in Federal Court: http://www.chicagoelections.com/dm/news_releases/….

What will Illinois voters do about this?
Illinois Constitution Article III, Section 2 says the following:
Section 2. VOTING DISQUALIFICATIONS
A person convicted of a felony, or otherwise under sentence in a correctional institution or jail, shall lose the right to vote, which right shall be restored not later than upon completion of his/her sentence.
Will a lawsuit be filed suing and holding the Board of Electors accountable. Don't put up with it!
