The media as we know them today are far from the dogged non-partisan news hounds of yesterday. Gone are the ‘take no prisoners and I don’t care who you are’ journalists who would hold every elected official to the letter of the law. Gone are the men and women with the chutzpah to stand up and demand clarity, truth, and transparency. The sleuths that would dig in the dirt to get to the real story are now ancient history, replaced by a brace of highly-paid sycophantic lap dogs living with the enemy. The news media is supposed to be the arch-nemesis of backdoor dirty deals and political misadventure; instead, we get commiseration and collusion with the high crimes and misdemeanors committed at every level of government (at least for members of the progressive left.)
Today, after many months and years of the same excuse-filled crooning of the protective media body persons, we have an administration so averse to America and her history it is a wonder we are still here at all. The White House falls all over itself to accommodate every claim of insult to factions and peoples outside of our borders with few exceptions. Apologies are scripted for every supposed slight to Muslims and their belief system; we are entreated to consolatory and accommodating deference to the Muslim community. The media dutifully serves the gruel and distributes it for general consumption; and when even a lone voice questions a White House directive, or the media acquiescence to the edicts as pronounced, the media reacts like Mr. Bumble in Oliver Twist: “Mr. Obama, I beg your pardon sir, but the people sir, the public, they want the truth.”
Form the sentinels they were to the lackeys they have become: how the mighty have fallen.
And as the watchers have fallen asleep at their posts, our government has fallen into disrepair, with ever-increasing corruption blatantly displayed at every level. From the White House to city halls, we are daily put upon to endure stories of graft, dissembling, and outright theft disguised as government benevolence. In the past, a true and diligent journalist earned his stripes by looking at every word with a suspicion that it hid some nefarious intent that the speaker was bent on keeping secret. Politicians would quake at the thought of being found out and exposed for lying to the public they claimed to represent. Journalists walked with confidence knowing the power their words held over the political class and the trust they enjoyed from the citizen on the street…but no more.
What we have today are a cadre of sycophantic pablum suckers clamoring for the scraps from the table of every Democrat in Washington.
In biblical terms: we are now told that good is evil and evil is good.
