How the media helped Barack become president

How big a role did the media play in helping to elect Barack Obama President of the United States?  According to Bernard Goldberg, former CBS News correspondent and best-selling author, quite a big one.  Hence the title and movie poster style cover of his new book, A Slobbering Love Affair: The True (and Pathetic) Story of the Torrid Romance Between Barack Obama and the Mainstream Media.

Let’s take a look at some of the examples Goldberg lists. Just for fun, let’s start with the New York Times.

When Obama’s relationship to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright was making news, the Times ran an editorial saying that the connection between the two men “should be none of the voters’ business.”
