Try this thought experiment. Imagine that someone grows up in poverty, works his way through law school by holding the night shift as a Capitol Hill policeman, and spends all but two years of his career as a public servant. Now imagine that this person’s current salary — and he’s at the top of his game — is $193,400. You probably wouldn’t expect him to have millions in stocks, bonds, and real estate.
But, surprise, he does, if he’s our Senate majority leader, whose net worth is between 3 and 10 million dollars, according to OpenSecrets.org. When Harry Reid entered the Nevada legislature in 1982, his net worth was listed as between $1 million and $1.5 million “or more,” according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal. So, since inquiring minds inquire, let’s try to figure out how Reid’s career in public service ended up being so lucrative. He hasn’t released his tax returns, which makes this an imperfect science, but looking at a few of his investments helps to show how he amassed his wealth.
In 2004, the senator made $700,000 off a land deal that was, to say the least, unorthodox. It started in 1998 when he bought a parcel of land with attorney Jay Brown, a close friend whose name has surfaced multiple times in organized-crime investigations and whom one retired FBI agent described as “always a person of interest.” Three years after the purchase, Reid transferred his portion of the property to Patrick Lane LLC, a holding company Brown controlled. But Reid kept putting the property on his financial disclosures, and when the company sold it in 2004, he profited from the deal — a deal on land that he didn’t technically own and that had nearly tripled in value in six years.

Another of the transparent fools opens mouth and proves once again liberals and lies are one in the same!If Harry is so worried about the voices in his head maybe he could silence them by producing ten years of his tax returns?Or have dearleader to release all of his hidden records, after all I’m sure the citizens of at least N.J. would feel a little bit better about voting for Mickey Mouse instead of Obama! At least thats one Democratic vote we know for sure is a American! And has a real story instead of a fariy tale!
At least we have records of how Romney made his money. And I heard even from a liberal that when his father died and left his money to the kids, Romney donated all the money to some charitable cause. Just how does a person on a $200,000 income amass several million dollars. My husband and I are very frugal and he worked two jobs most of his life, earning a decent salary. He built and maintained several apartment buildings but we have amassed nothing like that. Just exactly what shady deals was he into.
And I also hear a lot of congress people are all very wealthy, when they started out with nothing. Just how does that happen? You can probably make a wild guess and it would be true.
And with the latest campaign ad by Obummer’s camp – they talk about all the money Romney supposedly has in different accounts and how little taxes he paid. Well they don’t mention all the money he has donated to charities – but Obummer hasn’t donated one penny because he doesn’t want to give up his illegally earned money. And Reid – they claim he came up from the bootstraps and worked his way to where he is now – maybe or maybe not – but if he did – he sure forgot where he came from and how hard it was growing up. He could care less about the country, his fellow man and most people don’t mention that these morons that only care about themselves and what they are doing to the country – they don’t mention what these people are doing to their “own families – children, grandchildren, and other immediate family members and “friends” if they really have any. What about what their children and grandchildren are going to have to live in when they are grown. No one mentions that. And these people can’t support all of those family members the rest of their lives. Like Obummer – he is going to have to move back to Kenya come Jan 2013 or will have to BUY dates and possibly spouses for his brats – because no one will marry them because of who their parents are – or if they do on their own – it will ONLY be to get someplace themselves and not because they love the kids. So Obummer hasn’t thought about that either.
Politicians don’t spend thousands and thousands of their own dollars to get elected and live off their saleries you know. And donors to their campaigns don’t donate millions and expect nothing in return. I can’t believe that there are still people out there who are of the misguided understanding that politicians run for office so that they can “serve” and that large corporations donate to politicians so that they can have a tax write off or because they think the person that they donate to will be good for the economy. If you still believe these things, believe me. The tooth fairy is NOT real !! There is not ONE who runs for office these days that do it for the good of the nation. That’s why we all feel like Diogenes.
I really hate to have to agree – but you are unquestionably RIGHT !!!
