Ferguson, Missouri is definitely on edge. Al Sharpton says he is on “high alert.”

Outside the city’s police department overnight, officers in riot gear arrested a handful of noisy protestors who were blocking the street, some of them reportedly shouting, “indict that cop.”

“That cop,” of course, is officer Darren Wilson, whose fate now rests in the hands of a grand jury that’s been meeting for three months to hear evidence as to whether Wilson should face criminal charges for shooting Michael Brown back in August.

CNN is reporting that the grand jury will convene again on Friday and may begin deliberations that day, with a public announcement of its decision coming as early as Sunday.

But even before its known what the grand jury’s verdict will be — even before the notice of when that decision will be announced — Al Sharpton has revealed his plans for nationwide protests extending far beyond Ferguson.

The MSNBC show host continues to fan the flames of community unrest and racial discord by publicly stating his pre-judgments about what happened in the St. Louis suburb and the nature of the official investigation into the Brown killing.

According to a report by the CBS station in St. Louis, Sharpton — who has injected himself into the Ferguson shooting controversy from the beginning — is organizing “rallies” in more than two dozen cities.

Sharpton says once the announcement is made, demonstrators will make their voice known.

“How, some must say, how disappointing it is to hear the governor of Missouri lecture the demonstrators, and not deal with the problem of the provoking and the outright misbehavior of some of the police in the matter,” he says.

Sharpton is organizing rallies in 25 cities to have vigils and non-violent demonstrations at federal buildings.

ABCnews.com reports that Sharpton, through his National Action Network, is setting up those demonstrations outside federal buildings in order to pressure the Justice Department to open a “formal criminal investigation” into the Ferguson shooting.
