(CNSNews.com) – Government-approved school meals as a model for the family dinner table?
Responding to concerns that students are throwing away the healthy food on their cafeteria trays, the U.S. Department of Agriculture acknowledged that adapting to the changes “may be challenging at first, as students are introduced to new flavors and foods in the cafeteria.”
But the government also says parents can help school make the taste-transition easier:
“We know that many parents are already making changes at home to help the whole family eat healthier,” the USDA blogged on Monday. “We recommend reviewing school menus with kids at home and working to incorporate foods that are being served at school into family meals as much as possible.”
A recent video produced by high school students in Kansas mocked the healthy school lunches, showing young athletes fainting from starvation. “We are hungry,” they lip-synched, as one by one they topple over.

When the Obama’s only offer in the same quantity & quality what is served in school at the White House to themselves and all state quests then they will be setting the example!!!
Also when they eat out they are also required the same menu.
I want to see Mrs. Obama serve school lunches at a superbowl party. Practice what you preach Mrs. Obama. Mrs. Obama, children are hungry because of you and your ideals. They can not focus their attention on their school work because all they can think about is getting out of school to get something to eat. What I would like to know is who elected Mrs. Obama to anything, and by what authority does wield any political power?
The schools are reporting thousands of dollars worth of food is being tossed in the garbage by the kids. I don’t even subscribe to the lunch program for my kids, they take a lunch from home and it doesn’t get wasted. It seems that this administration would rather rule than lead.
