A partisan war is brewing that could bring the government to a screeching halt as early as January — and no, it’s not over the fiscal cliff.
It’s all about the filibuster.
Democrats are threatening to change filibuster rules, in what will surely prompt a furious GOP revolt that could make those rare moments of bipartisan consensus even harder to come by during the next Congress.
Here’s what Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is considering: banning filibusters used to prevent debate from even starting and House-Senate conference committees from ever meeting. He also may make filibusters become actual filibusters — to force senators to carry out the nonstop, talkathon sessions.
Republicans are threatening even greater retaliation if Reid uses a move rarely used by Senate majorities: changing the chamber’s precedent by 51 votes, rather than the usual 67 votes it takes to overhaul the rules.

Does anyone really take seriously any threat republicans make. Surely not. Please, give me a break. They are unquestionably the most gutless, spineless group of homo sapiens that ever stood upright and walked on the earth. No one takes them seriously. Not anymore. They’ve made these empty threats so many times it’s become a standing joke. They are the quintessential doers of compromise with the incomparable John Boehner and Mitch McConnell as the republican establishment (GOP) “leaders” who ensure that the Demoncraps get everything they want. Why bother with this expose’? The country is lost. I presume you print this stuff on the basis of the assumption that some hope of restoring the country to its founding as a nation governed by constitutional moral law is still actually possible? May I suggest that you wake up from your dream, your fantasy, and sniff the aroma of a once envisioned bright and shining city on a hill that has slid to the bottom of the hill and now rests in a landfill of dung.
Well said smoki; well said!!!
it’s comments like the above that make me want to scream, people that already think this Nation is Lost, have no business speaking about it’s fate, if you think it’s lost, then STFU go home and watch TV, and leave the ass kicking to those of us willing and able, In order to retrieve this Nation from those who have stolen it, we must First Retrieve the Media, we MUST Band together and force Advertisers and Sponsors of the “Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell, Chris Mathews and the rest of the Lying thieving Left wing that WE freakin mean Business, and if they continue to Sponsor or Advertise their products on those shows, they will PAY for it buy losing OUR patronage, they must decide who it is they are going to support, those of us who support THEM, or those who support strangling them regulations and Taxes,..
OK…I accept your challenge! Jump your happy ass off your computer chair and lead the way!! Until someone does, our nation IS LOST!! No one will do anything. You can type till your fingers bleed, it won’t change a damn thing!!! Let me know when you start your march on DC. I’m guessing you won’t get very far on that.
wozzy?, who is typing their fingers away?, I am calling and meeting with Tea Party officials in my area who are scheduling Meetings with elected officials, sitting here and yaking amongst each other is getting what accomplished ?….”liking” stuff on facebook accomplishes the same thing, get into a GROUP there is strength in NUMBERS
We are beyond lost in this country. There is not going back now. They stole the election and are in the process of stealing everything else from us. Im ashamed of what our country is becoming and all we can do is watch and pray. Obama has his second term and anyone who fights back now will be jailed and or killed. He is forming this secret council now to take out us patriots. America was great while it lasted. Trust in God for the coming events!
The GOP members would have undoubtedly surrendered early (again) on tax hikes. Reid’s assult on filibusters was not only uneccesary but could, in someone’s fantasy of Congressional eptitude, actually stiffen the brittle spine of a once-conservative member.
