Fox News Channel says it has suspended contributors Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum for two months as the men explore a possible White House run.
The network, in an on-air announcement by Bret Baier on Wednesday, said the contracts for the two men will be suspended until May 1. Their contracts will be terminated unless they notify the network by then that they are not running for president.
Both Gingrich, the former House speaker, and former Pennsylvania senator Santorum have not declared candidacies. But they have signaled that they are seriously considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012. The news network has other potential candidates on its payroll, including Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, but their status was not addressed on Wednesday.

Interesting decision, since Palin & Huckabee both have more influence and do at least as well in polls as Gingrich and Santorum.
I most definitely am no Gingrich fan! My opinion is that he had better hold on to his day job at Fox.

Let the 2012 Games begin. James I agree with you on the Huckabee but Palin just has a smaller much vocal support. Newt does not stand a changes with his baggage but if Newt and Palin debated that would be equal to the Reagan/Mondale debate back in the day. Well there I go again. LOL. I hope someone other comes out from the left, Barry sure needs to spend some of that money he has, otherwise it is going to be a landslide. Money is the key and Barry already has a boat load. I love political season just wish it wasn't so long and the money was not from people from either side in return for favors after the fact. That would be a true vote not pay to play vote. Some of my liberal friends agree, but after what Kennedy did to Carter (and some people say Reagan did to Ford), I can't imagine any credible candidate coming from the left. And Nader's lustre is gone after Florida in 2000.

I agree. And the pro-Obama side will likely spend a billion dollars–literally–in winning big. With only three-fourths that amount they had trouble spending it all last time, so God only knows what kind of blitz we're in for. Liberals like me were most opposed to the Supreme Court's "Citizens United" decision, but that decision will help Obama more than it hurts him.

Let's see, the last time you and I made predictions, I said Republicans would win the House but not the Senate, in the midterm elections while you said the GOP would win both the House and Senate in a landslide and immediately start impeaching Obama. I don't think I'm interested in what you're smoking.
My prediction for 2010 was around 59 house seats and 50/50 senate as I recall. Then added something about that Biden would busy casting the tie breaker I also did not predict Impeachment. That is not going to happen for anything that I have seen. Impeachment is serous and usually back fires on the party that does it. Glasshouse theory. A interesting story I read today was about the economy is recovering and that some of the Big names on the right are rethinking wasting any creditability and/or cash on throwing their name in the hat. I live in the Midwest and if the economy is recovering it missed us, also if gas hit 4 bucks I guess that could change quickly.

Yes, I remember your prediction making sense at the time. Had it not been for weak GOP candidates in Nevada, Delaware and Colorado, you'd have been right on the nose in the Senate.
I also agree with you tht impeachment won't happen, and that bad economic news is probably the only thing that will keep Obama from winning big.

Sarah is a true conservative despite all the liberal loons trashing and lies for over three years -she's never waivered. There apparently are few conservatives who are willing to stick their necks out and have the courage to speak – Palin (unfortuantely for us – not running), Bachman Cain and possibly Trump who is also not running. Dr. Paul is a constitutionalist but very weak on national security but should be the head of the Federal Reserve., No to Romney – another Obama lite.
Palin and Huckabee should be treated the same! It is not right to treat them differently.
Gingrich is far ahead of their abilities to be president of the USA.
I don't think either are going to run, they are both making pretty good money right now. I would love for Huck run but if he fails he does not have a good nest egg to fall back on as some. He also would not use some of the money bunglers as other do because he does have morals and some of the big money people really stay very close to the edge on legally collecting money. Oh course none of them cross that line, now would they? The only real election reform we need is the money both sides get and when they win they owe their souls to the one that gave them the most. Why does it cost one billion dollars for a job that pays 400,000 a year? Power is the answer, they all want the politician ear and government money for their projects. If you pick your winner and place your cash down, then he or she wins, money will come back 10 fold. What a system.

Too much untruths here. I have been around a long time and I know, since I lived thru these times that there are a lot of untruth. Another Republican to get rid of, One at a time. Compare all you are hearing about these candidates to OBamas background and now policies and are there any as bad as he is? In all my years this is the dirtest politics that I can remember. I hate to say it, but I am now having my doubts about Newt. I know he's a very intelligent man, but I also know that he has pulled some stunts that caused his staff to walk out on him on his newest campaign for president. There are too many things that I would question about Newt Gingrich. I suppose if he is the Republican candidate for president, then I will vote for him. I know that isn't the right attitude, however, my biggest thought is getting the man that is presently in OUR White House out of there. People can do & say all that they want…but I doubt very much that Newt is the Maxist that our current president is.

I am not a Gingrich fan, but if he wins the primaries then I would definitely vote for him. We simply HAVE to get Obama out of there. Citizens have become extremely active since Obama got into office and I believe that if Gingrich were elected President, it would be an easier job to get him to listen by doing to him what we have been doing to Obama, fax, fax, fax, petition, petition, petition; whereas Obama listens to nobody, ever, and just plunges forward at break-neck speed taking us to socialism.
Seems to me they should have been suspended the moment they declared their candidate status. If that isn't running for office what would FOX have it be?
