Newt Gingrich Responds To Obama ‘Flat Earth’ Comment

Newt Gingrich today responded directly to Barack Obama’s claim that Republicans that don’t like his wind, solar, and algae power ideas are members of the “Flat Earth Society.”

Collateral Damage From ‘Reproductive Rights’

Metaphors can be useful, unless they are allowed to override reality. In recent weeks, advocates for “reproductive freedom” have said that part of the Republican “war on women” is the proposal to let religious employers refuse to buy contraceptive coverage in their health insurance plans.

But who is the enemy? Most women, a New York Times/CBS News poll finds, agree that religious hospitals and universities should be free to opt out. Nearly half think any employer should have that prerogative.

If the effort to limit the contraceptive mandate were truly a frontal assault on women, a majority of them would not be endorsing the offensive. But the ideology of groups like Planned Parenthood and the National Organization for Women (NOW) sometimes ignores inconvenient gender realities.

Those advocates have been distracted from a different and far less figurative war on women—which, as it happens, is helped rather than hindered by one of the “reproductive rights” they champion. Legal abortion may empower women, but it has also become a powerful method for the mass elimination of females.

Modern technology allows prospective parents to learn the sex of a fetus, and many of them use that knowledge to exercise a preference for sons. Absent such intervention, about 105 boys are born for every 100 girls. But as Mara Hvistendahl reports in her 2011 book “Unnatural Selection,” the number for boys per 100 girls has risen to 112 in India and 121 in China.

Apathetic America: An Object Lesson

Obama Official Portrait SC 752x1024 Apathetic America: An Object Lesson

Imagine if you will, America as a great white steed. With the freedom and liberty to roam at will, across the fruited plains. It’s an awesome power, a testament to it’s very existance. Now, as it enters a clearing, it sees an apple that had been placed there for it. Upon hearing a voice calling from the wilderness (Senator Mc Carthy) proclaiming “be gone, it’s a trap”, the mighty steed leaves the clearing. But only to return at a later date.

Upon returning to the clearing, the steed finds another apple. Having been placed there by the government, a proclamation reads: “We have taken all forms of prayer from your schools; no one wants to pray to a spirit from a dusty old book anyway…but here is a free lunch”. And with that, the first piece of fence is erected. This piece of fence is known as progessiveism.

Some time later, the mighty steed returns to the clearing to find another apple. Once again, there is another government proclamation: “We have nationalized your health care, now any health issue that you may have will be covered for free. Enjoy your apple.” And with that, the second piece of fence is erected. This piece is known as socialism.

Again, sometime later, the mighty steed returns to find yet another apple and another proclamation from the government: “We have decided to make available to you federally funded abortions, but not to worry,we are also throwing in free contraceptives. Enjoy your apple.” And with that, the third piece of fence is placed. This one is known as marxism.

Now, after many trips to the clearing to gather all of the wonderful fruit that the government has given to the mighty steed, it develops a sense of trust. Trust that the government will always be there to take care of him, and he still has a sense of freedom. This time, the mighty steed finds many apples and a proclamation from the government that reads: “I have given you all of these things for free, and I am now prepared to take care of you for life.” And with that, the final piece of fence is placed. This one is called communism.

Now that the mighty steed is completely trapped in the grips of the government, the leader (Barack Obama) arrives to climb on the back of the mighty steed to break his spirit and is successful. The only thing that the steed has left is the memory of the freedom and liberty that he once had.

Although this story contains a lot of symbolism, I believe that it rings true to the happenings in our great nation. I feel that we have reached the point where the fourth piece of fence is about to be placed. The following video will support my theory.

Fox News Reporter Lets It Rip At Occupiers

Eli Stokols is a well-known politics reporter for the local Fox affiliate, KDVR-TV, in Denver. But he didn’t get much respect from local Occupy protesters while trying to do a live report last week, and he finally reached his frustration limit over it. In a new video making the rounds, Stokols can be seen letting the Occupiers have it.

This article was found a couple years ago, but it is worthwhile bringing attention to it. It shows the attitude that Barack Obama has about America fundamentally.

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. (AP) — His boyhood friends in Indonesia were street peddlers, and his grandmother still lives in a mud-walled house in Kenya.

But Barack Obama is another world away, presiding over the Harvard Law Review as the first black president in the prestigious journal’s 103-year history.

The charismatic 28-year-old, ensconced in the halls where tradition reigns, is taking aim at another custom: Obama’s sights are set on the South Side of Chicago, not on a U.S. Supreme Court clerkship or a fast-track career with, a cushy firm.

“I’m not interested in the suburbs. The suburbs bore me. And I’m not interested in isolating myself,” Obama said in a recent interview. “I feel good when I’m engaged in what I think are the core issues of the society, and those core issues to me are what’s happening to poor folks in this society.”

His passion is rooted in his background. He was born in Hawaii, his father an Oxford and Harvard-educated economist from the African nation of Kenya, his mother a white anthropologist from Kansas.

Obama moved to Southeast Asia at age 2 when his parents divorced and his mother married an Indonesian. Until the fifth grade. Obama attended Indonesian schools, where most of his friends were the sons of servants, street peddlers and farmers.

Concern for Obama’s education led his mother to return him to Hawaii, where he attended public schools through high school. In 1983, he graduated from Columbia University with a degree in political science.

At a recent meeting in a Harvard cafeteria, his affinity with the underdog was readily apparent. “I lived in a country where I saw extreme poverty at a very early age,” Obama said. “Parts of my family in Kenya remain very poor. My grandmother still lives in a mud-walled house with no running water or electricity.

“That’s who I am, that’s where I come from, not always literally, but at least emotionally.”

Obama entered Harvard Law School in 1988, and through a combination of grades and a writing competition, was elected to head the law review this February. He succeeded Peter Yu, a first generation Chinese-American. Obama cautions against reading too much into his election.

“It’s crucial that people don’t see my election as somehow a symbol of progress in the broader sense, that we don’t sort of point to a Barack Obama any more than you point to a Bill Cosby or a Michael Jordan and say ‘Well, things are hunky dory,’” Obama said.

“There’s certainly racism here. There are certain burdens that are placed, more emotionally at this point than concretely,” Obama said.

“Professors may treat black students differently, sometimes by being, sort of, more dismissive, sometimes by being more, sort of, careful because they think, you know, they think that somehow we can’t cope in the classroom,” he said.

Obama sees the inner cities as the front lines of racism.

“It’s critical at this stage for people who want to see genuine change to focus locally. And it is crucial that we figure out how to rebuild the core of leadership and institutions in these communities,” he said.

For five years before law school, Obama took on that task in Chicago. As the director of a program that tried to bring South Side churches, unions and block associations together on projects, Obama was not trying to solve local problems, he said. Instead he sought to construct something more lasting — a forum for the community, “I’m interested in organizations, not movements, because movements dissipate and organizations don’t,” Obama said.

America suffered when the movements of the 1960s dissipated, he said. Those movements succeeded in raising doubts about harmful traditions of sexism and racism, but failed to offer a viable alternative.

“Hopefully, more and more people will begin to feel their story is somehow part of this larger story of how we’re going to reshape America in a way that is less mean-spirited and more generous,” Obama said.

“I mean, I really hope to be part of a transformation of this country.”And the future of black people and of America generally? “It depends on how good I do my job,” he said.

Footage Shows Michelle Obama Occupying Harvard Office Advocating Raced-Based Hiring

Michelle Obama At Harvard FairUse Footage Shows Michelle Obama Occupying Harvard Office Advocating Raced Based Hiring

From PJ Media:

A treasure trove of information is coming out regarding Barack Obama’s time in college.  Over at the Breitbart sites, we are learning how Obama inserted himself into a fight to implement hiring on the basis of race at Harvard Law School.  The Obama tapes also seem to show the other Obama – Michelle – occupying the Harvard Law School dean’s office.  The occupiers were agitating for the race-based hiring of Harvard law professors.

J. Christian Adams continues:

In May 1988, Harvard Law students, borrowing from Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, and foreshadowing the Occupy movement of 2011, occupied the Harvard Law School’s dean’s office.  The students were supporting Professor Derrick Bell’s demand that the law school hire professors on the basis of race.

One of the students “dressed in black” and occupying the dean’s office appears to be Michelle Obama (Harvard Law ’88).  Here is a link to the grainy video.  (lower right at about ten seconds in, wearing white Keds):

It is important to note that I had the opportunity to review all of the original Betamax videotapes in Boston where the video quality was significantly higher than the internet version.  While there is some chance this is not Michelle trespassing and “occupying” the dean’s office for racial hiring preferences, the Betamax video version leaves very little doubt it is her.  Perhaps someone in the mainstream media will ask the East Wing if Michelle Obama participated in a trespassing occupation of the Harvard Law School dean’s office to demand race-based hiring of professors.

Perhaps Not…

If Obama’s Past Isn’t A Concern, Why Cover It Up?

Barack Obama speech 9 SC 300x205 If Obamas Past Isnt A Concern, Why Cover It Up?

Public Trust: The Beltway elite mock critics who say the president’s hiding his radical past from voters. They say there’s nothing there, move along. But if there’s nothing to hide, why is so much hidden?

And if the White House isn’t worried about the public seeing another side of President Obama, why is it trying to reinforce the image of him as a post-racial, pro-American moderate with a slick new Hollywood-produced 17-minute documentary?

The answer, of course, is that it is very much concerned.

The Obama campaign knows its carefully manicured narrative is wearing thin against the drip-drip-drip of revelations about his extremism. And it can’t risk the incumbent being reintroduced to voters this election as an untrustworthy imposter who’s hiding things about himself and his agenda.

Indeed, these are things that must be hidden from the average voter. They are unpatriotic and unelectable things. Things that would concern any red-blooded American, if not the parlor Bolsheviks inside the Beltway media and the Ivory Tower.

Today Is “Poolmageddon” For Trial Lawyers, Thanks To Holder

Eric Holder 3 SC Today Is Poolmageddon For Trial Lawyers, Thanks To Holder

President Obama’s Department of Justice — led by Attorney General Eric Holder — has found a new way to make the Americans with Disabilities Act pay off for Democratic trial lawyer campaign donors.

Since the ADA first became law in 1990, the DOJ has been issuing “guidelines” that businesses must follow to comply with a multitude of the nation’s civil rights laws.

For example, if a restaurant bathroom has a light switch that is 52 inches above the floor, then that business is in compliance. But if the light switch is 53 inches above the floor, the restaurant owner is a civil rights violator subject to fines from the government and liable for civil damages from any disabled individual who ever used the bathroom.

The DOJ has been issuing a growing wave of such guidelines over the years, reaching an ever larger portion of business activities. In September 2010, the DOJ issued guidelines for “recreational facilities,” including a new rule that all public access swimming pools must provide a lift capable of moving disabled patrons from their wheelchairs into the water.
