A federal judge on Monday stopped Texas from preventing Planned Parenthood from getting state funds through the Women’s Health Program.
U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel in Austin ruled there is sufficient evidence that a law banning Planned Parenthood from the program is unconstitutional. He imposed an injunction against enforcing it until he can hear full arguments.
The law passed last year by the Republican-controlled Legislature forbids state agencies from providing funds to an organization affiliated with abortion providers. Eight Planned Parenthood clinics that do not provide abortions sued the state. The clinics say the law unconstitutionally restricts their freedom of speech and association.
“The court is particularly influenced by the potential for immediate loss of access to necessary medical services by several thousand Texas women,” Yeakel wrote in his ruling. “The record before the court at this juncture reflects uncertainty as to the continued viability of the Texas Women’s Health Program.”

I believe any person has the right to do with whatever they choose with their body as long as they do not hurt another living being. If it is morally wrong then they will face the consequences in the end.. No one has the right to tell another person what they can or cannot do as long as it does not effect them. If a woman want to abort a child it is her decision. I do not think that the Government should be required to pay for the abortion. If it is life threating to the woman then her insurance should pay.
I do not understand just why people cannot accomplish there own Family Planning. My Wife and I are 83 years old and never in anyway require someone to make our planning for us or require the tax payer to pay for our contraceptives. Before we married we talked, researched and did our family planning and held to it. We held off the first 3 years as I was in the military and making a pay of $125.00 a month with rations included, so children were not in the cards. Later we had a boy and a girl which was what we planned as I was to make a career of the Military. When the second child was born, it was I who had a vasectomy as it was easier and less invasive for me than the Wife. Now the Children are grown and we have grandchildren and great grandchildren with no regrets. Yet I see and hear these gimme, uneducated lazy people who want the Government to provide and control their minds & thoughts as it is to much work to think and educate ones self. I know that this is true, because I taught, started and operated a business and found that most, even college grads could barely read, write and accomplish simple math. Yet want the money and did not earn it. I even hired a person with an AA degree and that person could not even make simple change or follow instruction. Yet with all the Government making the people dumb there is a few who ride above the rest. These I admire greatly. So all these that are parading with stupid sign go get a real life by going to work and if there is no work, create a job. I did and could do it again. Chef Robert here in The Land Of Enchantment.
I suppose we have to pay for all prostitutes who service the men who come in for a short period of time in our taxes … hoping no one notices that’s what the money went for. While all women lay on their backs doing ‘service’ work, I stand on my feet feeding the rich while I wash dishes in this crappy cafe down the street… uummm.. suppose it is better to be laying in a bed making money than standing…. huh?
