Over thirty organizations want the Federal Communications Commission to open up a probe on “hate speech” and “misinformation” in media. “Hate has developed as a profit-model for syndicated radio and cable television programs masquerading as ‘news’,” they wrote to the FCC earlier this month.

As for the Internet, it “gives the illusion that news sources have increased, but in fact there are fewer journalists employed now than before,” they charge. “Moreover, on the Internet, speakers can hide in the cloak of anonymity, emboldened to say things that they may not say in the public eye.”
The groups who want this new proceeding include Free Press, the Media Access Project, Common Cause, the Prometheus Radio Project, and the League of United Latin American Citizens. Their statement, filed in the Commission’s Future of Media proceeding, comes in support of a petition to the agency submitted over a year ago by the National Hispanic Media Coalition.
“Hate speech against vulnerable groups is pervasive in our media—it is not limited to a few isolated instances or any one media platform,” NHMC warned the FCC in 2009. “Indeed, many large mainstream media corporations regularly air hate speech, and it is prolific on the Internet. Hate speech takes various forms, from words advocating violence to those creating a climate of hate towards vulnerable groups. Cumulatively, hate speech creates an environment of hate and prejudice that legitimizes violence against its targets.”

It is strange that someone on the internet hides in "the cloak of anonymity" and it is wrong, but many news organizations are quite comfortable in quoting a high level official who speaks "on condition of anonymity", and feel it is not wrong.
They know the way we communicate, and they want to stop it. Imagine what we would know if the only 'content' we received was the like of MSN, ABC, or NBC puts out! We'd think obamacare was great! …and the likes of glen beck or Rush… would not exist.
About as good as the north korean state run tv. … reruns of obama speech's at dinner time to supplement your weight-loss program through regurgitation.
Gosh, if they enforce it like they should (non – discriminatoriley) many of the ones complaining might get caught in their own trap! Wouldn't that be a sad day?

The mainstream media published hate speech everyday for 8 years of the Bush Administration. But THAT is OK! It is only categorized as "Hate Speech" when the liberals cannot handle the TRUTH or when they are unable to respond effectively to logical but opposing points of view. Then we are called all sorts of foul names and racists.

Do you suppose the misinformed will be informed of the truth? If so let's start with the COLB not proving NBC. In fact it disproves it but since it is an image on the internet it isn't even verifiable. In fact not even Hawaii will verify it as being real.
I could be wrong of course, but aren't the organizations responsible for this, "control internet thought" rubbish all or nearly all Progressive (read communist) front organizations? These are the same folks that are in the process of stealing our money and our country from "we the people"? The group Congress treats as upstanding organizations? Not so upstanding, or American oriented as they pretend. I feel soiled just writing about these people.
