A former TSA screener turned blogger who is now causing embarrassment for the federal agency has revealed that TSA officers routinely laugh at and make fun of passengers’ nude body scanner images in back rooms.
In a blog entitled Taking Sense Away, the anonymous ex-TSA worker reveals how he, “Witnessed light sexual play among officers, a lot of e-cigarette vaping, and a whole lot of officers laughing and clowning in regard to some of your nude images, dear passengers.”
The revelation was in response to a reader who asked, “Tell us, please, what really happens in that private room and why the TSA does not want it seen in public nor recorded.”
The ex-TSA screener also ridiculed the existence of I.O. rooms (image operator rooms) where naked images produced by body scanners are viewed by TSA agents.
“The most ridiculous thing is that these I.O. rooms even exist, to begin with. The backscatter machines are useless, as I and many, many others have previously pointed out. They should never have been put into use to begin with; TSA officers should never have been viewing nude, radiation-rendered images of passengers in those private rooms, period,” he writes.

I am sure this post will cause outrage in some people, but let’s look at the few and simple facts. They cannot see details of a person genitals nor can they see the details of a person’s face. They have no way of telling who it is they are laughing at. So why all the fuss???

The fact that People in this Country is so Complacent, and Allows the Invasion of your Privacy is the reason you Deserve to be Laughed at!! I have a friend who’s brother works for TSA at the San Diego airport. His brother told us there was no way a person could be identified as to who they are by looking at the body scanner images. If you know for a fact that I am wrong I apologize and will set the TSA screener straight and tell him he is a liar. Thank you for the info.
Like I said Before!! You and others have had your Rights Violated for so long now, that you don’t even realize anymore when it is happening to you!! The Point Is…….The Government, or any of it’s Entities Have no Right to invade your Privacy with any Scans or probes or anything else for that matter!! The Government and the TSA telling you in order to Fly, you Have to be subjected to such intrusions is Liken to them telling you in Order to Eat, you have to go through a similar Procedure!!! You don’t have to Fly or Eat, but it sure makes Life easier on you!! And having to Submit to such things is Asinine to say the Least!!
Ok Redd where did you get the idea I think cavity searches are all right. I was addressing the post about the scanners laughing at the images. I have friends who thought that when they went through the scanner the people looking at the iamges could see the details of their private parts and were able to indentify them. I have a friend who’s brother works for TSA and tells us the images does not show enough details of private parts or faces. Have you ever seen an xray where you can say hey the is Joe Blow. Of course not!
Now on the issue of invasion of ones privacy I agree with you 100%. I have and still am against it. It is stated everyone has to go through some screening, because it saves the hassle of people claiming racism and/or racial profiling and the court fights. I can understand that. If anyone can come up with a better way to be able to find out who is going to cause harm to the US I am sure they would be more than happy tp listen. Until there is a better way we will be subjected to our invasion of privacy. Why should I get screened while you are not and allowed to board?
Let me ask you this: If a person went to a city and planted a bomb that killed a couple of thousand people and survailance tapes showed him boarding the flight to the city he was going to plant the bomb without being screened, what do you think the public would think.

Now that I am retired I spend most of my days calling, writing and faxing any one in the Government I can get through to voicing my objections, suggestions and opinions. I am sure it is a waste of time, but I have to try. I am like you. I will go down fighting There are times when I think the men in black will be knocking at my door, because of what I say about this administration and the unqualified, illegal, phony, lying, racist, bigot, half breed, bi-sexual, foreign national, Muslim POTUS who is in office now.
Now that voter fraud is excepted the Deomcrats will be the majority the next election. In fact I think BHO has the money and power behind him to remain in offce until he has served his purpose. We need more people with your passion…. but alas…………
Redd i agree with you 100% some people doesn’t have enough spine to stand up if a revolution was to happen which is most likely to happen it is because of those slimy SOBs. Those are the one that will just be in the way and what do you do with thing that get in the way. I will be helping those that deserve it .
This is what we have all been TOLD! But, I saw this in another venue and although still not that clear, there was quite a bit more detail; the pics were larger, too. Believe me, they get plenty of details. The real question here, is WHY? They have never caught even ONE terrorist using these images and only use them to spy on law abiding Americans. At the end of the day THEY should be made to go through the imagers and show them to everyone in the terminal. What’s good for the goose, etc.
And Besides!! Think of it Logically!!! If they don’t see that much Detail like they say, then What is the Point in doing it then in the First Place??
Logically they are screening people for anything that can be used to harm the us.Like guns and explosives. They do the hand search looking for chemicals and items that the scanner does not show or see. What do you think is the purpose of the screening?
You just refuse to see the crux of the issue!! THEY HAVE NO RIGHT TO SEARCH YOU FOR ANY REASON!!! NEVER!!! NO HOW!!! Doing so is a Violation of your Rights, and you allowing it to take place is Condoning the Process!! NOONE, AT NO TIME HAVE ANY RIGHTS TO PUT THEIR HANDS ON YOU, OR DO INTRUSIVE SCANS ON YOU!!!! They do this to Children and Old People!!! Just last week they took the little girl in a wheel chair and isolated her from her Mother for over an hour because they detected Bomb Residue on her hands!!!! What a Crock of &#@%!!!!! These people that work for the TSA are Sick, Twisted Perverts!!!!!

Answer me this If you were responsible for keeping America safe how would you determine if a person has, on their person, someting that could be the cause of killing 1000′s of people? What is your solution? How would you feel if a person blew up the plane your wife and children were aboard because he was not screened?
I guess you believe law enforcement has no right to search you or put there hands on you. Remember the plane that enroute to the Pentagon on 911? No one was screened and the people who had the right to live had their freedom to live violated. But that is OK with you as long as no ones privacy was violated. So the next time you need to go some place take a train, bus or drive yourself then you will be alive and well and happy.
Why all the fuss? I don’t trust people who won’t trust me.
And, if you want to strip-search me (really or virtually,) I expect to at least be able to see your face. Honestly, I’d rather be physically strip-searched right there at the gate than virtually strip-searched by a machine that uses ionizing radiation.
Yes, I’ve had plenty of diagnostic imaging done – X-ray, CT, MRI, ultrasound, you name it. I was an Air Force radioman for several years, and I’ve been exposed to more EMI than I’d really care to think about.
But, at least the diagnostic imaging resulted in a lower aggregate dose, WRT tissue density. Why? Because THE ENTIRE THICKNESS of my body was exposed – the intensity may have been higher, but the inverse square law applies to thickness as well as area – which is why the dose per tissue volume was LOWER, even with higher intensity.
“Backscatter” is meant to penetrate clothing and bounce back. As a result, the entire biologic exposure to ionizing radiation is the first few millimetres of your skin.
Now, look up “ionizing radiation.” I’ll wait.
Are you now starting to see the problem?
Frankly, it’s safer (from a biologic point of view) to lie down on the conveyor and let the scan go right through you…
SO IF A MAN GOES THROUGH WITH IS GIRLFREIND AND HE HAS GOT AN ERECTION CAN THE TSA WOMEN PUT HIM ON A CHARGE FOR INDECENT EXPOSURE ,AND GET HIM LOCKED UP , THE MAN WAS FORCED TO GO INTO THE MACHINE BY THESE TSA PEOPLE ,THEN THEY SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH AIDING AND ABETTING A SEXUAL CRIMINAL AFFENCE , ?
