Barack Obama is still struggling to kick smoking, according to his first medical examination since becoming president.
Obama is sensitive about his cigarette habit and tetchy with reporters who raise it. But after his 90-minute medical at the Navy hospital outside Washington yesterday morning, his doctors confirmed he had not yet managed to conquer the habit and suggested he “continue smoking cessation efforts”.
The doctors said the president used medication to try to ease the pangs, they described it as “nicotine replacement therapy, self-use”.
Obama promised Michelle when he embarked on his campaign to become president he would quit, at the time he said he was smoking about eight a day.
He told reporters last year he had quit but still had an occasional cigarette, without specifying how many.
The doctors also recommended “moderation of alcohol intake”.

Personally , ones health is a private concern and anything opening the door to regulate it is doing these despotic thugs a favor because they will take that as a mandate to act. Not that anything they want will apply to them but it always turns out to be of some use in leveraging wealth and power for them. What ought to be of real interest is why everything else about this man is now a state secret yet his habits are circulated as if relevant to policy and adherence to principles of law. I guess it follows suit that everything is backwards with these people.

RJ Weber, you hit the mark about Obama and his hypocritcal rally cry to people to stop smoking and drinking-especially when he drinks and smokes on taxpayer's expense. He is an evil 'man'.
Agree … one term is WAY too long. If a doctor has to say "moderate" … he must have a problem … and the fact that he has to even address the issue is a problem … perhaps Michelle can begin at home with the child husband before she starts with children and obessity … maybe he can be the poster child for her campaigne.
It looks like Obama is an equal opportunity liar. His promises to his wife during his campaign were just as empty and insincere as his promises to the American people. One thing for sure though, Obama has done more to reinvigorate the true American patriots than any other president since George Washington. The election of a man like Obama was necessary to wake America up and put her back on the right track. Remember, ALL things work together for the good of those who love the Lord. Most Americans do still love God, and Obama is merely an unwitting pawn to facilitate God's ultimate plans to restore America to her former glory: "One nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all." And yes, Mr. President, America IS STILL a Christian nation!
Obama, if he continues to smoke and drink, he had better Get good medical coverage, he is going to need it. I smoked and now I have to take 3 to 4 breathing treatments daily just to breathe, I just wish someone had cared enough for me to insist I stop.
obama,senators,and congressman get the best free health care for life with only working 4 years,I dont think most americans get that kind of deal. They will be able to get the best treatment even if the bill passes or fails.

Donald, I hear you. I quit about three years ago. Don't have the desire, but have the after effects. Takes a lot of effort to try to overcome the problem.

What about cocaine and pot? Are those approved by his doctors? Gearge W Bush was nearly crucified for a 25 year old DUI ticket and the Kenyan gets by with admitted drug use, and if it's like the rest of his statements (lies) he was a heavy user and probably still is.

I say smoke and drink away and invite Pelosi and Reid to join you! Why should you listen to the doctors, you don't listen to the American people! So be your own man, smoke more! drink more! Have more beer summits! In fact, don't be greedy, invite all the dumbocrats to have a beer at least 4 times a day and on breaks. Oh and light up when you drink too! To me the fact that the doctors indicated that he should ":moderate" his drinking…that is inside lingo for "Mr. President you have a problem." Also, he may have some liver damage..which will not come out. High cholesterol, smoking, drinking…he could be a walking timebomb I think…If he has these issues, why aren't the doctors going to see him next year instead of 3 years from now…To me, this is an indication of what the American people will be looking forward to; rationing of healthcare.. This was done intentionally..he wants to show that people don't need a yearly checkup…See folks! Everything this administration does, has an ulterior motive…The President has to remember genes have alot to do with our longivity; and his mother died very young from cancer, so if I were him…I would stop smoking now.
He shouldn't even try to quit until he is out of office. Too much stress and pressure.
